I am quite shocked to see such a wonderful 2007 design of the RPC! MAN! This is just too good :0
I loved the space theme, I do miss it. Though it is why I decided to have a bit of a space theme on my own website because I just love it! :)

Ooh~ That's quite interesting!
I also like space stuff but it's rather more colorful, full of shine and such stuff. I am a magpie when it comes to shiny things actually

I tend to like vibrant colours too, but I think the current theme does a good job at looking modern along with having very good contrast (aka, easy on the eye).

I like the idea of the space theme though because it's both nostalgic and looks cool. There is also the option to use a second theme here which looks fairly orange and doesn't have green.

That's the theme I am currentlu using! It gives me Rayman 3 atmosphere.

Nice. I think it's good that there is an option like that based on user preference.

Yeah, it's why I wanted the glassy look with the animated space background, to give it that twinkle star effect too.

I find modern website designs boring with all the flat looks.

Comparison, my website versus what the theme looked like before I customized it.

Unfortunately most things are flat nowadays in general. Even just compare some company's current logos to that of a decade or two ago. You'll find they took away all the colours and went with bare minimalism (even Ubisoft did this). One notable one is the Pringles logo.

I'd say it's been about a decade now since the flattening began. It does seem there seems to be a mild shift to slightly more textured aesthetics now (reintroduction of glass and gradients for example), but it's a far cry to the 00s aesthetics such as what's now referred to as Frutiger Aero

I first noticed the flattening with the Google Chrome logo. I absolutely loved the old spherical design and I was disgusted when they flattened it. It felt like a retrograde step, almost like a mistake or a joke.

Of course IE did it about a decade earlier: look at the IE4 versus IE6 logos :hap:

Actually, I must look into a more interesting theme for my own Pelican website. Like why the hell is my website bright when I always always use dark themes when available browsing other sites! :boon:

Sentenced to Hydraulic Press, it was. It's funny you bring up the IE logo though, as it went from flat back to rather glossy with IE7 and 8, then back to flat with IE9. (EDIT: It was actually IE10)

And yeah, dark theme is king. :D

You mean Apple's Hydraulic Press? Actually yeah, that's a pretty good analogy! :D

EDIT: And at least IE10 kept the yellow streak, IE6 was boringly monochrome :mefiant:

Oh god I forgot about that advert, that really ticked a lot of folks off. I was thinking about Hydraulic Presses in a general sense mind xD
