Re: Rayman 3 scores
There's a dedicated option in the Pause Menu called "Lums Race," the code there will automatically update when your score changes. If you want to put in a new score, just put in the new code from there and it'll update your score on the leaderboard.

Well, you know. Life happens. And when you have a score as high as these guys do, it eventually becomes much, much harder to get a better score. I'm sure they all are still passionate enough to continue playing though.Greengoop wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 8:50 am Fair point, I’d just find it hard to walk away when you’re at the top.

There's a couple of reasons why it's very easy to walk away when you're at the top:Greengoop wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 8:50 am Fair point, I’d just find it hard to walk away when you’re at the top.
1.) You've been at the top for too long with no competition in sight. Not saying this to be cocky, I just know how much time and effort has to go into getting to this point.
2.) For most top scorers, myself included, the "recent" abundance of mid-combo glitches (and difficulty thereof) has shifted interest towards figuring out the theoretical limits of the game, rather than pursuing these limits in practical play.
3.) The current top score is already decently close to what's humanly feasible. I did actually pick the game back up for a bit and am currently trying to go for 920k+ (just for the sake of beating my years-old record), but most of the combos required for major improvements beyond that would probably violate half of the Geneva Conventions. No thanks
4.) The 99.999 point barrier puts a definitive ceiling on the game, so at some point, you are just "done" with it. Through the collective effort of multiple top scorers, we've almost gotten to that point (at least in theory, as I said). Unless new glitches bust the game wide open again, or some of the levels magically spawn extra objects, there's not a lot of room for innovation left.
That being said, I'm happy to see that there's people like you who are still trying to improve their scores after all these years! Good luck with your endeavors
Re: Rayman 3 scores
I mean I broke 800k and called it a day. Sure there could be a lot more earned here, but it's just so tedious at a certain point that it starts becoming too time consuming to be worth doing much better. I'm probably down towards 20th with that score by now given the stuff people have been doing, but I'm still happy to have passed 800k.
It's not a professional sport. It makes sense that the people who play the likes of sports want to be better than everyone else. They get more recognition, publicity, and a hell of a lot more money. This is more a case of doing the best you can in a game for fun, and seeing how many points you can get. I doubt anyone wants to dedicate their entire lives to it 24/7 when they've already done everything there is to do.

Amazing stuff! If I ever do play this again for this purpose, I know I'm not getting even near 900k. It's really cool that you can optimise it this well and have the patience for it. Well done!

Haha, even years later you were still able to beat your old high score. Congrats Maz!

Hooray, a new personal best! Congratulations Maz!
Re: Rayman 3 scores
Good luck.
I have merged your post into our existing thread for Rayman 3 scoring.
Re: Rayman 3 scores
Just to note, this looks like Rayman 3 HD. Scoring isn't the same on there and doesn't really count in comparison to the original game. You can still score points past 99,999, while the original game stops counting from that point, only adding a potential combo on top of it as the final score.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I've always found it interesting how this limit, which likely stemmed from the fact that the developers did not expect anyone to ever reach 100,000 points in a level, actually ended up stimulating scorers' creativity. You don't see many of them playing Rayman 3 HD, after all.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I must have a look at the relevant code in the game and see if it offers any insight as to how intentional the limit was...
