I have my complaints (a fair few) about Prime 4, but I still enjoyed it. Definitely a very watered down iteration of the Prime formula, even moreso than how I felt about Prime 3 after I finished my most recent replay of the Trilogy:

Still like the music in it though (when it's not just ambience. Seriously games can have atmosphere without just being noise - I think on the whole it's better than Dread's soundtrack, but when it comes to wholeness, the previous Prime games all are better overall.) Speaking of which:

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Vs. Sylux

This is my personal reaction to Metroid Prime 4 so far after 4 hours of gameplay (3 if you discount the highly engaging Tiberium farming in the intrically designed desert):



Dude, spoilers! I didn't know you actually FOUGHT Sylux in the game!
All you meet is a robot disguised as an hallucination of him, because this idea was so engaging in the SEGA hit classic Sonic Forces™.

Heheh, don't worry I was fully aware of that, I'm in a 200% sarcastic mood since I got into the game and begun writing an ironic review of it, it's my only way to cope with all the things it doesn't do right.

But I'm starting to experience something similar as of now... this was the stage of denial, and now I'm starting to feel the stage of anger setting in, as I truly realize the scope of all the things that could easily have been done better...


...Like the desert soundtrack.

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes - Agon Wastes

I'm guessing the choice of Agon Wastes as your OST of choice for that post was a pointed one given the desert?

Yeah, the desert boggles the mind. I was willing to give it a chance because I didn't want to be prejudicial, and we've already had a slight unconventional means of connecting areas what with the gunship in Prime 3. But the desert is just really dull. It's not bad or horrible to trek through (if anything I actually like how the motorcycle controls), but it's just...there.
