To gIve it some credit, they're pretty decent songs. And the platforming there is probably some of the most creative in the game, things like using the mirrors to determine where you could and couldn't jump was a nice touch.dr_st wrote: Sun Dec 21, 2025 5:03 pm Come on, "The Longest Shortcut" is not even a level. It is basically a backdrop for sampling songs from the soundtrack.

I'm choosing BoM, feels like an absolute slog to get through (even if the Razoff section rocks)

I do remember feeling like that on my first playthrough. But then I remember disliking a lot of places because kid me didn't understand the combat mechanics, and so I kept getting clobbered when up against more than one or two enemies. Not to mention the bosses!
But yeah, now I love it all

Choosing The Longest Shortcut without a shadow of a doubt. I hated it when I was younger. It takes the action away and I didn't like the platforming that was planned in this section. Now I don't hate it, but I have the "Ugh" reaction when I have to play through this level. Like, just get me to The Summit Beyond the Clouds, pretty pls

TLS, don't listen to them... They're wrong
We should think of the next poll. It will be another hate poll, of course
Maybe Rayman 2?

The Longest Shortcut has to be my least favorite. It's an interesting interlude, and the platforming is indeed creative, but it feels less immersive to me than the rest of the game, and even a tad boring in comparison.
As for the other two that were mentioned the most (the Bog of Murk and the Desert of the Knaaren), I love them both.

I know it's the tutorial level but I prefer the longest shortcut over the fairy council. The longest shortcut is basically filler, true, but I feel like it's still interesting enough gameplay-wise for it not being the worst level. In a replay of the game it just feels like the game really starts in clearleaf forest.

Yes, there is something nice to be said about dreary environments, as opposed to operating room cleanliness which is TLS.Hunchman801 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 8:47 am As for the other two that were mentioned the most (the Bog of Murk and the Desert of the Knaaren), I love them both.

Exactly! And those levels feature an interesting diversity of environments, with the marsh featuring a mansion and the desert a gloomy underworld.dr_st wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 7:07 pm Yes, there is something nice to be said about dreary environments, as opposed to operating room cleanliness which is TLS.![]()

It will be a bit harder to take a screenshot of the current poll
Anyway, it seems TLS is the most hated R3 level. Don't listen to them... We really appreciate you
And now it's time to vote for your least favourite R2 level. It's definitely a long list, so think carefully.

There really aren't any bad R2 levels. The poll will end with 0 votes.

"Bad" isn't synonymous with "least favourite," so I wouldn't be so sure there's not going to be any votes whatsoever.
That being said, I am racking my brain asto which level I find the least attachment towards. It's definitely a tough one to consider.

I'm not sure which level I would call my least favorite, but I will say that I've always felt that the Prison Ship had a lot of missed potential. What could have been a climactic platforming challenge, a Robo-Pirate gauntlet, and/or a stealth-based rescue mission wound up having little platforming or combat whatsoever in favor of sliding and shell riding.
Not bad, but kind of a letdown for the penultimate level of the game.

Aye, those are my thoughts exactly. Prison Ship definitely feels like it's missing a lot, especially knowing that it contains the maps "Astro_30" and "Astro_40", while the other maps in the "Astro" series have been lost to the sands of time...
The Flying Shell is fun once you get the hang of it though

I will personally erase each and every vote.Master wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 11:43 pm "Bad" isn't synonymous with "least favourite," so I wouldn't be so sure there's not going to be any votes whatsoever.
But at least the Revolution version has all these pirates scrambling away from you as you are flying through.RayGamer99 wrote: Mon Feb 02, 2026 12:05 am I'm not sure which level I would call my least favorite, but I will say that I've always felt that the Prison Ship had a lot of missed potential. I never felt anything remotely like it.RayGamer99 wrote: Mon Feb 02, 2026 12:05 amNot bad, but kind of a letdown for the penultimate level of the game.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread - #82: Which one is your least favourite Rayman 2 level?
I think there was clearly an idea of Rayman sort of raiding the Prison Ship a la battle at the Death Star. There's a very blatant reference to the trench run during the Flying Shell segment. The problem is that the way the game is, it doesn't really feel like much of an attack run. The Prison Ship seems to inexplicably be in a state of disrepair, with portions spontaneously breaking apart. Part of me wonders if there was meant to be a bit more there with other characters.
I like the Prison Ship level as a whole, that being said...I'm not fond of that segment at the end of the second part, where you have to slide around and pray you get all those Yellow Lums before falling into the shaft. I very rarely manage to get all the Lums when I play that segment - and it's not fun having to reload the level from scratch just for another chance at that section.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread - #82: Which one is your least favourite Rayman 2 level?
I have to agree with Master : the prison ship is not as powerful of climax as it needed or wanted to be.
It's supposed to be the last level, yet it has one enemy to fight. Singular. Also it drops a mechanic that while not entirely new (flying missiles) still is an interation that you haven't had the time to adjust (which also suffer from the "early-3D gaming" era of movement not being streamlined).
So the level is slide (can be annoying), then fly (is fairly new), then end. I'd say the lack of enemy diversity is exacerbated in this level. There should be a gauntlet against former minibosses or hordes of enemies guarding the ship, but no.
I also have PTSD from the Carmen level but that's because the PC version was blocked there when I was a kid.
