My other half has been sharing a friend's crunchyroll account so we've watched a bit of anime old and new on there here and there. It's been ranging from Oddtaxi (recentish) to...Record of Lodoss War (certainly an oldie!)?

I'm still waiting for the last seasons of My Hero Academia, Bleach and Beastars.

I'm also keeping an eye on Chainsaw Man and Dorohedoro.

Intrigued by Bleach also. The last arc was shite in paper format but the anime makes it more justice.

I kind of dropped One Piece some time ago, after a certain point I stopped being interested in the main characters and realized that what I was looking for, I'm not going to get it from this franchise. It is kind of sad, since at some point I was really invested in the story.

I still read the manga and watch some of the episodes, out of curiosity. The latest anime opening (28) is pretty good.

I honestly don't get the level of hate One Punch Man Season 3 is receiving, maybe because I had very low expectations. The stuff that happens in the manga is just insane, trying to have people animate that must be a nightmare.

I Honestly to say, there is one anime I interested is BanG Dream! (or Bandori/Garupa).

GANSO! BanG Dream Chan still ongoing though, whereas every thursday despite alongside BanG Dream! TV that will be live on YouTube. Alongside this, another new anime for MewType, named BanG Dream! YumeMita.

To be fair, BanG Dream! 3rd Season still ongoing for Tokyo MX. Even though, rumor say there was having fourth season, but the decision was changed within MyGO!!!! and Ave Mujica.

I'm steadily watching One Piece every day now and it's helping me get through my work.
I'm really trying to avoid looking things up or watching youtube clips of it, since I don't want any spoilers.
I like every main character a lot, my favorite was and might still be Zoro, but I feel myself liking Franky more and more :P

One Piece is still a very hot topic as far as I can see. My friend binge watches it and I can say it's certainly her favorite - I was up for a fangirling rant about how she loves Nico Robin, God that was a journey XD

As for me, I paused on rewatching Bleach - I'm on the moment where Aizen finally is making a move during the fight with Shinigami, Arrancars are no more - to go watch Pokemon Black and White or Best Wishes if we're sticking to Japanese version which I'm watching. I just really need to get to the "Episode N" season, like, really badly need to get there. Sure I could just jump straight into it, but since it continues the story of the two seasons before I need to watch this. My brain is sadly constructed like that

I like Nico Robin myself a lot as well, especially her bond with Chopper! I've never really watched the pokemon animé, except for the first season on Netflix. I might want to watch the last season though just to see Ash's journey (and our childhood journey) come to an end!

I'm still kind of watch and read One Piece, but very sporadically. I remember Nico Robin was one of my favorite characters back in the day (I feel like an old man). I'm really looking forward to watching the final season of Bleach and see what is added/changed.

Having watched the 12 episodes from season 3, I have to say, it was indeed a masive downgrade when compared to Season 2 (and even more when compared with Season 1, which set the bar really high in terms of the animation). Here is a video from Totally Not Mark regarding that:

I've had this topic on my tab list for quite a while now because I wanted to talk about the blockbusters I've seen in 2025. I know, hear me out.

In the past year, with the addition of the MCU, the Disney remakes, french comedies nobody cares about, they were three films that stood out : The Wild Robot, Mickey 17 and Tron : Ares. The latter two have a huge problem with lore and atmosphere, which makes Tye Wild Robot shine in comparison (it's my movie of the year tbh)

Movies have become generally longer and longer, but it really devolves into mindless exposition and mindless action. Even disregarding the lack of artistic risks taken by the directors (looking at you : Tron), you rarely get that establishing shot that makes the universe breathe, gives the worldbuilding a soul, makes you want to connect (or not) to this setting and this characters.

And this is why, during the course of November, I watched my favorite anime of all time : Darker Than Black (season 1 only). Because I used to remember that half the series is worldbuilding and that said worldbuilding is opaque and/or blurry by design. So I was wondering if upon rewatch it wouldn't be a bit too much.

What I found was a series overflowing with emotion. It presents a core so complex but smashes it in the everyday life of people affected, and when those people inevitably get hurt, you feel for them. You feel with them. Every single secondary characters, but also the leads, who are defiant to the world that is being set up around them, which creates a discomfort that vibrate with the state of the world being presented to you.

I would recommend every single anime fan to watch Darker Than Black season 1 a watch, between the story and the visuals and the soundtrack, it's definitely a must.

(And then you can toss season 2 in the trash because somehow it features a whole lot of lolicon :/)

It's a shame when anime do that. You are hyped for the upcoming epic stuff and what you encounter is like smashing against the wall
