Minor PSA on these little five-watt mains-voltage incandescent fridge lamps:
Exploded incandescent fridge lamp
Exploded incandescent fridge lamp
This is one that literally exploded in front of my mother earlier today as she was trying to get a little Christmas decoration to light up (you may have noticed a brief outage on my signature because it also blew a breaker in my house!).

Personally, I've always thought that it looked way too easy for the filament to slip out of place and short-circuit, and I'm guessing that's exactly what happened here. Now that my suspicions seem to be confirmed, I'm hoping never to have to go anywhere near one of these bulbs again… (We're looking for alternative solutions for the decoration, we'll probably go with battery-powered LEDs)

Stay safe all!

Yeah, she's fine, thankfully! The bulb was pointing away from her so it shot into the wall. If she had pointed it towards herself it'd be a very different story....

Yikes! I'm glad everyone's okay. Yeah, I'll have to agree, old fashioned bulbs are a bit risky.

Here's a late Merry Christmas from me, though I hear Christmas is in January in some countries so, maybe not bad timing?

Since it's nearly time for New Year's I have some questions:

1. What is the best way to celebrate if you don't have a plan?

2. What would you like 2026 to bring in the world of Rayman? (Existing or imagined projects)

I'd say if you're wanting to celebrate New Years, see if you can hang out with some friends. But if you're on your own, maybe see if there's any firework or light shows you can go to?

Are you telling me all it takes is one breaker to take out your whole house? :P

You could’ve hooked it up to a UPS!

At least my stuff like Nextcloud, Bitwarden etc. are hosted in the cloud :)

For the first question I have an answer: just do what you feel like to do. I'm not up for celebrating especially that I wake up at 5:15 am tomorrow. I'll be dead before midnight

As for the second... I would like at least try to write one one-shot in the Rayman 3 universe. Gosh, I have an oc in this game for so long - actually for 17 years - I want to do something with her, like, it should be the right time with my writing and all

Nope, just the wall sockets on the right hand side ;)

I actually have a great view of fireworks from my apartment and prefer to stay in the warm! If only my RPC buddies were here with me. Maybe I should give someone a call?

Oh dear why are you getting up so early? Are you just so tempted to write that one-shot you need to start it first thing tomorrow? Either way, I think this is a sign that it's time, I look forward to reading it!

Work, I had to get to a library that's a bit far away from the place I live in. 40 minutes by car and I had to be there at 7:30 am, so with the morning routine I had to wake up this early :(

Hah, I wish! I have Master's Thesis on my head and another fanfiction project. Although if you're interested in reading that one-shot I can make sure that I publish it here when I finally write it :D

Haha, who'd have thought that we'd have the same random idea to play that track, with the RayTunes metadata, on AudioSurf! I see you did better than me though, do you play it more often? I can't remember when I did that, but I can guarantee I just randomly opened the game for the first time in years, and haven't opened it since!

EDIT: Though come to think of it, it was only last night I was thinking of playing it again! :o

And congratulations on your 200th post! :partyhat:

Thanks! I started playing this game literally yesterday (cuz I bought it yesterday, I've been waiting for the moment) and I used my laptop keyboard to play (and still do tbh)

I am! Love to see all the artwork and creative writing about Rayman people produce here.

It's part of what gave me this vision where all members contribute to a digital Rayman world we all coexist in. It would have a place to just chill (like the Fairy Glade or whatever) and places to compete, like Rayman M. Unfortunately it's probably not doable but it is nice to dream...
