Is it??? I've been playing Revolution and I've never seen a level like that... unless there's a way to get there.

Re: Rayman 2
Just found out that The Cave of Bad Dreams isn't in Marshes of Awakening in the PS1 version of Rayman 2 and instead you just go straight from the Menhir Hills to The Cave of Bad Dreams and you don't get introduced to Jano so you don't know even know who Jano is when he starts chasing you.

Re: Rayman 2
There's also a slight difference in the English dialogue, in the other versions he states "Your journey ends here!" whereas in the PS1 version he states "Your voyage ends here!"
The loss of his introduction cutscene isn't ideal, but I do like the slightly expanded dialogue you get at the end of the boss fight where he states that (Rayman's) "folly amuses" him. I think it gives a slight trickster vibe to Jano that the other versions don't really have.

Welp, now I know where Z's dialogue of "Because it amuses me!" came from in Xenoblade 3...Master wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 1:05 am There's also a slight difference in the English dialogue, in the other versions he states "Your journey ends here!" whereas in the PS1 version he states "Your voyage ends here!"

The Jano dialogue and the dialogue given to each of the Mask guardians was really good, pretty much the only thing I like about the PS1 version.Master wrote: Tue Dec 30, 2025 1:05 am There's also a slight difference in the English dialogue, in the other versions he states "Your journey ends here!" whereas in the PS1 version he states "Your voyage ends here!"

I also noticed that the PS1 version uses an image of the branching/alternate route that leads to Jano's cave in the Marshes as the loading screen for the level despite that route not even being in the PS1 version.

Re: Rayman 2
That's not the only time something like that happens, take a look at the loading screen for the Tomb of the Ancients, for another example.
There is one other substantial change to the PS1 version I really like over the originals, but you'll have to get to the final boss to see what I mean.

I actually like most changes in the PlayStation version. In most cases, I prefer the original, but at least that version feels like a cohesive whole, unlike Revolution.

Re: Rayman 2
Back when Rayman 2 released, do you think Ubisoft had plans to bring Razorbeard back as an antagonist in future Rayman games? Razorbeard is the only main antagonist in the mainline Rayman games that is shown to survive and escape. Rayman 1 didn't confirm or deny if Mr Dark died, Andre died in Rayman 3 and in Rayman Origins, the Dark Teensy/Magician died in the explosion.

Re: Rayman 2
I can't say whether or not Ubisoft might have planned to bring back Razorbeard for future mainline games, but it's worth noting that the PlayStation and PS2 (Revolution) versions of the game don't show him flying away in the end credits, so it's possible that those could have meant for him to die in the explosion. That being said, I think it's safe to say he survived and just didn't bother with the Glade of Dreams anymore.
As for the other points you mentioned...

As for the other points you mentioned...
Considering the fact that Mr Dark came back for Rayman Junior and Mini, I think it's safe to say he didn't die - and thank goodness for that!
This part made me think about a few things: if André was supposed to return for Rayman 4/Raving Rabbids, how would he have been brought back as a Black Lum? I'd guess that the Rabbids' invasion (hehe) would have scared the same Red Lum and turned him back into André. But then, if André is a Black Lum again, why wouldn't he have used that to bring back the rest of the Hoodlums? And how does Monik work her way into all of this? All interesting questions that will likely never get official answers...
Well, the game never quite specifies if the Dark Teensy died from the explosion in Moody Clouds - after all, Rayman and his pals were only slightly further away from that same blast, and they were safe and sound. That aside, we know that he comes back in cloned form in Legends, so I guess that makes three mainline villains that survived; then again, I'm not sure if they're all clones of the maybe-deceased original, if it's the original with four extra clones, or if the five clones are the original split into five Dark Teensies. If only Ubisoft had thought this far ahead and said something about it in-game...TriangulumDelta wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 11:21 pm and in Rayman Origins, the Dark Teensy/Magician died in the explosion.

Re: Rayman 2
They do say something in-game: "the Nightmares multiplied". It's not the original Ales, it's five nightmares Polokus had based on his memories of the original

I don't know if someone has already done this, but I recorded the screensaver (with VLC Player) so it can be preserved. I don't think the recording captured the animations with 100% accuracy.Elite Piranha wrote: Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:35 pm Btw, in the Rayman-Fanpage there is a Ly Rayman 2 Screensaver, is this where the gif of Ly juggling some balls came from? If this is true, if it is still possible to extract more animations or the background from the .exe file? I've tried, but with no success.
Edit: here is the installation window.

Just noticed that the mosquitos from Rayman 1 also appear in the Fairy Glade and Sanctuary of Stone and Fire in the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 instead of just the Woods of Light like all over versions.

Awesome, thanks! It seems the Razorbeard animation is the only one that has been converted to a gif.RayCarrot wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:05 am You can find all the assets for it in the Rayman Assets Archiveviewtopic.php?t=75877
