Re: The You Game!
< doesn’t think it’s worth it making the hardware suffer just for some heat

Re: The You Game!
As long as the hardware is running at a safe temperature, there's really no suffering, as far as < is concerned.
Re: The You Game!
< ironically does get heat from the PC since the room is kind of small, though the other day it was cold enough that < just turned on <'s OG Xbox for a while too. mrgreen:Reese Riverson wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 2:29 pm < suspects that ^ could just use the PC as a space heater.
It can be effective though!
Of course, it would make more sense to just turn on the heating.

Re: The You Game!
< finished picking <'s classes for <'s senior year of high school! < is taking 3 AP classes (which are basically college level classes offered in high school for all of you Europeans). Although there's only two classes that < is taking that < really cares about; AP European history, and AP African American studies. The latter usually doesn't have enough people in it for the class to actually run, so < also put AP Human Geography as a backup. Hopefully African American studies does run, as < has been really wanting to take the class! < is also doing AP Environmental Science, mostly because < has heard it's fairly easy, and the topic seems interesting enough. < was gonna take AP Biology, but < already took a biology class, so it feels unnecessary.

< has reappeared again today! <'s been playing the Mega Dimension DLC for Legends ZA. In total < only spent 30$ (not including tax) since <'s sister was the one who bought the game for <.
Levelling up <'s Pokemon suddenly went from time-consuming to incredibly easy.

< started doing a cyber security course, since < already has knowledge with Linux and Python it should give < a head start on it. < thinks it's better to study than to be doing nothing and sitting around bored. That said, the studying can be kind of boring too, but it's productive.

Re: The You Game!
< says thanks to everyone!
.....for example, programming and web development, < enjoyed it back then in school since < had either friends or classmates and we supported each other during that time. These days though, <'s by <self most of the time and <'s often stuck at home, so < barely gets anything done on that regard, there's just too many distractions for < to get certain things like studying done. < misses those days when < can just leave and go somewhere like the library where < has a better chance of being motivated to practice, researching, etc. This is why <'s actually glad that <'s parents are on vacation, since while they do care about < and <'s future, unfortunately they distract < too from what < wants to get done in a certain day, so < is going to take the time to fix the numerous issues < has and improve <self.
.....anyways, < gives ^ best wishes with the course!
< is doing good for the time being. <'s parents are on vacation so <'s going to take the time to balance <'s daily schedule better so < can be much more productive than < currently is. < admits that ever since RD <'s schedule has been wack. <'s starting with <'s sleep, which <'s been altering it a little bit so < can return to the sleep schedule < used to have. That's been slightly successful at least, though < has to pick up <'s nephew from the airport in 3 days so < can't really put too much effort into this or <'ll miss the time. < also has other plans, but <'ll talk about those around here later when < gets started on it. Hopefully < CAN get started on them and just not talk like < seems to be prone to do.Reese Riverson wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 5:40 pm < Welcomes ^'s return!

< hates having days where < does practically nothing. Thankfully, < almost never feels like this anymore since <'s always getting something done. There are some priorities that < would like to focus on better, but < needs to be in the right environment to be motivated.Steo wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 10:45 pm < started doing a cyber security course, since < already has knowledge with Linux and Python it should give < a head start on it. < thinks it's better to study than to be doing nothing and sitting around bored. < says thanks. < also understands that the environment can play a factor. < can just be in <'s own room, though < understands that the library is usually the type of place to motivate you more.

< hopes to not have to spend a few hours on QuickBooks support today like < did Friday, while everything is resolved, < still has two more computers to setup and configure.

Re: The You Game!
< was reviewing an exam online this afternoon at 19:00 because a student got a 4.55/10 and she wanted to check the exam. < had the idea to look for those extra tenths so this girl could have a 5/10, and that's what < did. Howeveer, the situation went extremely uncomfortable because she started crying and complaining a lot about life and circumstances. It seems < ruined her weekend when < posted the marks and made her cry for three days. She believed everything was unfair, her life was ruined for days and < doesn't have empathy with them because they're supposed to pass the lab exam easily without studying

Re: The You Game!
< is reminded of how last semester < would always try to find as many marks as possible for the kids when grading their assignments. It may have made < popular with them but it meant < got way too distracted from <'s own work, and < has been paying the price for the last month or so!
Re: The You Game!
< doesn't think one should be expected to compromise on their job. Empathy is not even relevant here, they just need to put in the work if they wish to pass their exam, and even if it's not easy, that's how it works. Sure you can feel bad for the person, but it's still up to them to put in the effort if they wish to succeed. You don't give a person an A+ because they cried.DaveRattlehead wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 11:38 pm < was reviewing an exam online this afternoon at 19:00 because a student got a 4.55/10 and she wanted to check the exam. < had the idea to look for those extra tenths so this girl could have a 5/10, and that's what < did. EDIT: < also knows that <'s current line of studies won't be particularly easy, but it makes sense that < doesn't just get handed qualifications without putting in the effort and actually doing something.
