Re: How's the weather?
- 3 Celsius during the night, man, we had -8 Celsius. It should be -12 Celsius today. I swear, my grandpa lives in Finland and the last time we've talked he said they had -16 Celsius and that was a week ago. He just send this weather here along with his Christmas Card

Re: How's the weather?
It's been snowing in Paris for a couple days. Quite a nuisance for many but a beautiful sight in my yard! I'm not really bothered by it as my metro still works and I mostly walk anyway. I think we had something like -6 last night, nothing much for a lot of places but it doesn't really happen much anymore here.

Re: How's the weather?
Found a nice solid blanket of snow on my windscreen this morning! Also apparently there's a burst pipe in the heating system in the building where I work, so that's why it's been just as cold in the lab as outside this whole week

Re: How's the weather?
It's been raining for an hour or so. The outside looks somewhat dramatic, almost like a Halloween-vibe in January. There's a slight rumble of thunder in the distance, the rain's light.
It's just a nice day to stay in and work on things.

Re: How's the weather?
I'm hearing about snowstorms hitting the UK and some parts of Ireland getting hit, but I didn't see anything like that here.

It hit pretty hard last night, though since it's passed it's been pretty dry. I suspect it'll all have melted by the end of the weekend.

It's still relatively warm here, but a cold front is coming so I look forward to the colder weather for the next day or so.

Re: How's the weather?
OK, so this was the first working day of 2026 that I didn't feel I had to bully my body into pushing through the cold to execute my morning routine. As a result, my resolution of being nice and early for work is finally getting somewhere
Re: How's the weather?
I miss summer as soon as it ends.
As of now it just got really windy here over the weekend and randomly jumped up by about 12 degrees Celsius in the process. I've been kind of unwell with throat and sinus issues. The left side of my nose keeps burning even, probably a sinus infection at this point. I generally haven't been well for the best part of a week.

It's just crazy that you're colder at home than outside. I hate winter so much... Please bring back those 30ºC!!!

Re: How's the weather?
I'd take 10-15°C. 20+ is when things start getting a little uncomfortable, and 30+ is when it's unbearable. I've had to get an AC because of how bad it gets in recent years.
Re: How's the weather?
That in conjunction with the crappy short days, and the sun being so low in the sky as to shine straight in your face when you open the blinds. I just don't like this time of year, usually I only like the fact Christmas and New Year's occur during it, and that's all. I already can't wait for Spring.DaveRattlehead wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 11:36 pm It's just crazy that you're colder at home than outside. I hate winter so much... Please bring back those 30ºC!!!
I suppose in fairness it can get unbearable at times if you're indoors with no AC especially, but I'd rather have warm weather when I'm outdoors, just wear a t-shirt and shorts, and keep hydrated.Master wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:01 am I'd take 10-15°C. 20+ is when things start getting a little uncomfortable, and 30+ is when it's unbearable. EDIT: Most times Ireland only gets mid 20s anyway, aside from that one day at a Christening where it was 30 while we were all in a pub.

Re: How's the weather?
I think the issue is that hot weather here is often in conjunction with high humidity, which makes being outdoors as unbearable as indoors. Though I've always had an aversion to the sun and warm weather so it probably just feels worse for me than most.
Re: How's the weather?
It's pretty true regarding the humidity. It's mostly that which kills me.
Re: How's the weather?
Very dry, very warm for a month of January. Too bad, I was gear for the cold. It made the bike ride sweatier than usual, which is noteworthy because I already sweat waaaaaaaay more than the average person.

Re: How's the weather?
Humidity makes everything worse, definitely, both heat and cold. I experienced 40ºC in different places, and if you don't expose yourself too much to the sun, it's actually bearable! However, 30ºC + humidity, here or in other places that are close to the coast, is a lethal combo. Still, I prefer heat + humidity to cold + humidity.
Re: How's the weather?
The day we had 30 Celsius here and we were all in the pub for a Christening was truly unbearable. It was extremely humid, and they had the doors open but that of course does nothing when it's humid. We were all drinking beer, which is going to make us even more dehydrated. You feel like drinking whatever is there will help, but when it's beer, it won't. Obviously you're still going to drink when you're at something like this where everyone else is.
I believe that was our hottest day last Summer.

Re: How's the weather?
Weather? Sucks. -36°C. Why am I even complaining anyway? I'm not a snowflake, I can handle
