Yeah same! I really like how the PS1 version handles it.

Today has been pretty crazy with rumors about the Rayman remake.

First, a bunch of tweets from a guy who has been quite accurate with Assassin's Creed leaks seems to imply that the new Rayman project is in fact a remake of the game that needs it the least: Rayman Legends.
Here's RayCarrot's bsky post about it: https://bsky.app/profile/raycarrot.bsky ... zqueewds2v
And a reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAnd ... /?sort=new

Now Tom Henderson is claiming that there is another Rayman project under the codename "Iceman": https://x.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/20 ... 0588923029
What is this, the rumored Rayman 4 project that's on ice until Ubisoft feels like this new Rayman Legends remake has sold enough copies? So forever? :P

I should remind you at this point that Tom Henderson said Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake would be released on January 16, and multiple insiders have said this whole story about that planned release date did not match up with their information. So take it with a grain of salt. Personally, all this info seems really conflicting to me, and although I fear that the Rayman Legends remake/remaster thing is real (it's very much in line with modern Ubisoft), I think that maybe we should wait until we have clearer information.

To add on to that, from the replies:

Q: "Rayman", we agree it's just a "remake" for 1?
A: It's a remake, but not for 1.
Q: This isn't a Raving Rabbids remake... right?
A: No, but we're not far x)
Q: Is this a remake for Rayman Legends??
A: 👀

I-... Erm... I... :o
That's it... I can't even find the words... I don't even have the energy to get mad about the current treatment of that series anymore...

...But the Ubi devs sure do conjure some very mad feelings regarding Yves Guillemot's handling of the company :bad: :hehe: https://x.com/xj0nathan/status/2014414431665491982

I have only heard about one Rayman project which, depending on player feedback/hype, will trigger the development of the second one. But perhaps I don't have all the information 😌
SO... it's smelling like some Origins/Legends glorified remaster if I understand the hints correctly...
And typically, it sounds like the future of the series now lies on buying the exact same games that have been regurgitated ad nauseam in every way possible for the past 15 years, without having any guarantee that said future won't be more UbiArt recycling for all eternity... and I'm now ready to give up on modern Rayman forever. Goodbye! :D :noelnoir: :noelnoir:

Im probably the only Rayman fan ever whose hyped for an Origins remaster. :oops2:
LETS GOOOOOOO

On a serious note, that is pretty disapointing, the original games have been needing... Anything at this point, really. Im still happy Rayman is getting anything these days, but a remaster of the Ubiart games is probablybone of the only things we really didn't need.

While I would be really excited if they remade Origins with the scrapped plot details, even I agree that this wouldn't exactly be what Rayman needs right now.

For anyone concerned that this is implying that a Rayman Legends remaster is coming, I wouldn't worry about it. Legends is already available on all modern consoles via backwards-compatibility, so there'd be literally no reason for them to re-release it.

I still think that the remake/remaster is for Rayman 2 or 3, and the "we're not far" comment about Rayman Raving Rabbids further solidifies my opinion that the latter could be the one we're getting, since the releases of Rayman 3 and Rayman Raving Rabbids were only 3 years apart. As someone who prefers Rayman 3 over its predecessor, I'd be perfectly fine with that!

This same person said that it's not a 3D Rayman that is being remade, it also isn't the first game, and it will make everyone laugh when it's announced. So if this leak is to be trusted, I think that rules Rayman 2 and 3 out, unfortunately...

The only way I'd be okay with a Legends' remake/remaster is if they add in the cut worlds like Drak's Nightmare and Crouching Huns.

Well, if this is a 2D game that's "not far off" from Rayman Raving Rabbids, I'd be inclined to assume that they could be remaking the game's GBA version. Again, I'd be perfectly fine with this! :mryellow:

At least to me, the game felt like the next best thing to the original Rayman 4/Raving Rabbids: a 2D prequel to the console RRR - that's my headcanon, anyway - with new worlds, Rayman 1-style gameplay, and (to my knowledge) the final physical appearance of Ly the Fairy. If this was a proper remake of the game - meaning that they would upgrade the visuals, gameplay, and music, while maybe adding a couple of new worlds to the game à la Rayman Redemption and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake - I think this would be great to have available in the modern day.

Even the most prolific leakers tend to miss sometimes, so I'm not wholly inclined to take this as gospel. But at the same time, it being a possibility isn't exactly a promising sign. Legends is still a pretty modern game, and I don't see what work could be done (outside of acquiring higher quality assets) to the game, and remaking a game where aesthetic plays a substantial role is a very risky prospect as I don't trust modern UbiSoft to come up with something that retains the distinct look (despite whatever gripes I have), of the UbiArt games.

I'd be a little more ambivalent if it were a remake of Origins, I'd still have the same complaints, but at least Origins isn't quite as accessible on modern consoles.

Of course, as it stands this is all still hypotheticals, this could still all turn out to be a whole nothingburger. But the possibility is there now...and that's concerning considering how it feels like the franchise really needs a fresh step forward after having the UbiArt style be at the forefront for almost 15 years now.

It better don't be a remaster of Origins or Legends, because having these games again and expecting some hype from our side, the fans, would be absolutely ridiculous... Do these games really need a remaster? :|

At least it would be something different to what we had for the last 15 years...

I'm taking it with a grain of salt until something is said. It can't be Legends because it already got released again for the Switch and the servers for it are still up, so how can it be a Legends remake if Legends Definitive Edition is still active?

Of course we should take everything with a grain of salt until Ubisoft makes an official announcement, but I wouldn't peremptorily rule out any remake candidates because they "don't make sense" to us. There's a lot of factors to take into account here, most of which we don't know about. And even if the choice of game to remake is (very) disappointing, it could still be an opportunity to improve on its biggest issues, such as the plot (or lack thereof).

Let's just hope Ubisoft makes an announcement soon; at least we will know what to expect, whether we like it or not.

Duh, a remake of Rayman Legends?

I don't always agree with Raymanni, but he summarized it well on Bluesky:
Ryemanni wrote:I'm so glad "I'm over" rayman, I still love the old games but the franchise has been in a rut ever since 2011. Whether we like it or not, the ubiart era *IS* rayman to ubisoft and the general public. We will never get another status quo shakeup like origins was, ubisoft is way too comfortable.

Here's my take: I don't trust any of this. This smells like a lie to make people outraged. But of course, I have been noticing how *scared* Ubisoft is to make a much bigger project with Rayman than things like the Rayman in the Phantom Show DLC for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, which was a relatively small project and Nintendo was doing some of the work because it was a Nintendo x Ubisoft collaboration type game due to the use of Mario and his friends.

The engine they used, Snowdrop, can literally be used for a 3D Rayman game, but they seem so damn scared that I actually don't want a Legends remake unless they're doing it in 3D.

I'm afraid that, in a world where examples such as Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story and The Last of Us remakes happened on systems where the originals were all readily available (and still looked fantastic), such -otherwise perfectly rational- reasoning is way too optimistic...
(As for RRR GBA, even less likely considering Ubisoft's habits, as much as I'd love to see it happen...)

And if that person's informations are indeed to be trusted, this is indeed the nonsensical reality where we're heading... :mefiant:

Q: Please tell us more on the Rayman in development 🙏 either it's Rayman 3 remake or it's Legends because if it were Rayman 2 remake you would have never said we would be disappointed 😬
A: You answered your own question 😌
And as "it won't be 3D", you know what's the logical conclusion here... :noelnoir:
...2D Rayman 3 demake of course! :D :hap: (at least we have RayCarrot working on porting and enhancing "that one"! :proud: )

Q: Is Project Steambot one of those "disasters"? Everything about this project and the other Rayman stuff in production is very confusing. Could you give a hint about what this game is and why, in your opinion, it would be a disaster?
A: the Rayman remake is not a 3D Rayman, that's why it would be a disaster
Q: So, would it be a remake of the first game, or of Origins and Legends? And would it be in the style of POP Lost Crown, or would it have its own style?
A: I'll say more later. There are a lot of changes at Ubisoft, this project could be canceled at any moment and never released. And people won't believe me anymore in the future, so I'm waiting before communicating what I know.
...We're so getting a 2D UbiArt-styled Rabbids TV Party remake, guyz! :mickey:

I do agree with most of what you all expressed, and of course we have to take *everything* with a grain of salt until any official reveal...

Really, it would be beyond stupid if it is their pick for "Project Steambot" :lestfou: (a name which could just as well be a nod to the mechanical city in Moody Clouds or 20,000 Lums Under the Sea)...
I played the Wii version of Origins last year to see how it feels on non-HD hardware, and the game has aged perfectly even there, still looking fantastic and modern enough... And it goes without saying that Legends is even less in need of enhancements...
Still, I could be OK with an Origins Definitive Edition eventually, or a perfect merge of both Origins & Legends with extra worlds/skins/etc., in a time when we get some actually new Rayman games that is...

But right now, is clearly far from that time... It would be the total opposite of reading the room to just rehash the same games for the billionth time when the community has been so vocal about a new 3D game (WERZ MUH RAMEN 4!!?? PLS RAYEMANE 4 WEN!!??), remakes/remasters/ports of the series' oldest entries, and even a proper console/PC sequel to Legends as some have demanded if you really wanna go with more of that formula...
And we all know how much Ubisoft cares about addressing the elephant in said room by asking themselves: "how can we make moar mooney and beeg numbers while being as cheap as possible?" ...Then, they proceed to go look at the most up-to-date looking thing they have in store, and they know exactly what their answer is! :noel:

(Even then, that's pushing aside any corporate BS from the higher-ups... like cancelling the Sands of Time remake when it was -allegedly- close to the finish line, therefore wasting everyone's time and money, just like what EA did with C&C Generals 2 over a decade ago! :nostalgic: :noelnoir:
And trust me, in both cases, ""not meeting player expectations"" isn't at all the true reasoning behind those decisions considering how much they usually """care""" about their customers' satisfaction :hap: ...On that note, my condolences to all Prince of Persia fans, what a waste of another great series... )

Ah yes, rated M for horror themes. I suppose we could be getting more Land of the Livid Dead or Drak's Nightmare.
