Re: Rayman 1
I suppose the floor of the arena should have been part of the foreground instead of the background.

Re: Rayman 1
Looks like a 30th anniversary remaster is on the way. Does anyone else here know about this? I, for one, am pretty damn hyped. I say that if there's any game that's in need of a new, easily accessible re-release, it's Rayman 1.
Re: Rayman 1
There already is one, it's called Rayman Redemption.Chilistudios wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 12:48 am I say that if there's any game that's in need of a new, easily accessible re-release, it's Rayman 1.
Re: Rayman 1
I'm not convinced that the best way to confirm future plans of Ubisoft for Rayman is to juxtapose it with Prince of Persia and BGE.This rating follows news of Ubisoft's major organisational restructure. Rayman has been confirmed as being part of the company's future plans. Its creative house 'CH4' will be responsible for the IP and other "narrative adventure" series such as Prince of Persia and Beyond Good & Evil.
Actually, if I'm Ubisoft, I'd buy the rights to Redemption, polish it and release it officially as fan tribute the way Capcom did with Megaman x Street Fighterdr_st wrote: Tue Feb 03, 2026 8:06 am There already is one, it's called Rayman Redemption.I am doubtful Ubisoft will do anything to surpass that.

Re: Rayman 1
Michel Ancel got interviewed in the latest issue of Retro Gamer and he said this about the 30th anniversary remaster:
Even though it's complex, I think there's a kind of remake planned. I don't remember when specifically, but it will be in HD and I think Ubisoft is adding a few more checkpoints and things like that just to make it a bit less frustrating. I think it's a nice move, because that's the only point that could be a problem for no skilled players.

Re: Rayman 1
I'm not sure how they plan on doing this, will it be like RR or be a complete from scratch remake?
On one hand I prefer the remastered style, but RR already exists, and I don't think a a new 2D or 3D redraw would look anywhere near as good as the original.

Re: Rayman 1
Atari is listed as the developer on the Australian Classification Board, but they acquired Digital Eclipse (the Rayman Advance guys) in 2023.
If Digital Eclipse's previous "anniversary collections" are anything to go by, this will be more like a compilation of reedited games (with small improvements) than an actual remaster or remake.
Expect some bonuses like concept art and interviews too. For exampl, here's what they did for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection:

The collection includes bonus features such as a museum to view concept art, pitch documents and facts about each release; a music player to listen to tracks across the series; an interactive timeline that chronicles the series' history; and biographies that provide background information, stories, sprite art and animations for characters in the series.

Re: Rayman 1
That's probably more along the lines of what I would want. I know that Redemption already exists and is great, but it's pretty different to the og game, they are wildly different experiences. So it's nice to have a remaster of the true original R1, been wanting to replay it for some time, but I don't really feel like setting up my PS1 or DOS.

Re: Rayman 1
Looks like the rumors were true! After the rating leak earlier this year, Ubisoft officially unveiled Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition during today’s State of Play. It's a compilation by Digital Eclipse that brings together five versions of the original game: the PlayStation, MS-DOS, and Atari Jaguar releases, as well as the Game Boy Color and Advance versions. They also included the 1992 SNES prototype (its first official commercial release).
In terms of extra content, the package notably features the Bible of Game Design, developer interviews, and unreleased concept art. The collection also adds modern quality-of-life features, including rewind capability, save states, and toggleable cheats (infinite lives, unlock all levels).

Yeah right?
But to address the elephant in the room... this is one doofus-looking Electoon, isn't it?

You mean this guy?

I think it has strong meme potential.

Since I play games on PS4 only, I won't be able to play this (and I already have the original versions, anyway), but I'm looking forward to seeing the bonus content and hearing the reimagined soundtrack!

I just bought a PS5 for the next Resident Evil, so I'm definitely getting it! I'm especially interested in the additional content too.

Re: Rayman 1
This looks really cool! I'm really interested to see the developer bible, and it's super nice to have an official release of the Jaguar version that doesn't go for 100s of dollars!
Does anyone know how much it'll cost?

Don't fret; the game will also be releasing on the Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch (2), and PC.Droolie wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:07 am Since I play games on PS4 only, I won't be able to play this (and I already have the original versions, anyway), but I'm looking forward to seeing the bonus content and hearing the reimagined soundtrack!
From what I could gather, the game will go for a cool $20!

Re: Rayman 1
OH MY POLOKUS, YESSSS! FINALLY SOME RAYMAN NEWS THAT BRINGS JOY TO MY HEART AFTER SO MANY PAINFUL YEARS!
It may not be a remake, but whatever, Rayman 1 is staying true to its timeless art style and we're getting the PS1, Jaguar, PC, GBC, GBA versions all in one bundle along the extra PC levels and the SNES prototype! This is like a dream coming true!
I'm mostly excited to see if there will be more to the SNES proto than the ROM we had access to years ago!
I'm just disappointed the Saturn version isn't included (duh
) and THE fear I have right now is about that "immersive reimagined" soundtrack they mention on the Ubi Connect page (you can even see Christophe Héral on the documentary image
)...
I REALLY HOPE this isn't another Rayman GBC Chromatic situation for the soundtracks, and that you'll be able to toggle back the originals, because it is timeless and it would be absolute heresy considering Remi Gazel's godlike work on the original! Rayman 1's OST is among the greatest classics!
PLEASE do not ruin this when it's this close to perfection!

I can't believe they did a mediocre new soundtrack instead of bringing the GOAT Rémi Gazel back to remaster the original soundtrack.
Why didn't they bring Rémi Gazel back?

Re: Rayman 1
Well sadly he passed away some time ago.
The additional content has me curious though like most games lately I'll hold off for awhile before I decide to get it.

Re: Rayman 1
Five versions of Rayman 1 is kind of a let down. I'd prefer if they did a collection of Rayman 1, 2, 3 and Origins and Rayman 3 GBA, Hoodlum's Revenge and RRR GBA.

lmao that's a really high bar to set, keep wishing, I guess...Tribelle2026 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 3:10 am Five versions of Rayman 1 is kind of a let down. I'd prefer if they did a collection of Rayman 1, 2, 3 and Origins and Rayman 3 GBA, Hoodlum's Revenge and RRR GBA.
But tbh I'm *thankful* we got anything at all, you should be too. Imagine if Rayman didn't appear at all today in the State of Play, we would be very upset and we'd automatically assume Ubisoft didn't give a damn once again.
Be glad they actually gave a damn this time.
Also FYI: Remi Gazel is no longer with us, so asking for him to do the soundtrack is kinda insulting when he passed away years ago. Chris is gonna take good care of the soundtrack. Maybe be a bit more open-minded.
