Awesome. You're such a talented artist, I'm excited to see what kind of artworks you'll be inspired to make after making more progress into R2.

The DC version is an excellent choice!

I am in the Mushrooms of Awakening right now. The difficulty I have with it is that I barely understand when to move and how I get all the cages broken. Plus I've been dying there. A lot, honestly. I'm currently taking a little break from R2 by playing R3 instead. I have some unfinished business to do there... the screenshots ain't ready yet, but will try my best not to abandon. I wish I wasn't the perfectionist ^^"

Thanks for the update. The Marshes of Awakening can be a source of frustration, especially when you're determined to get every last cage and lum.

As annoying as it can be to leave things incomplete, life has its own ideas of perfectionism. For example, the relief of having completed most of the game flips the context completely from frustration to determination and finally satisfaction, when you come back to pick up the final elusive pieces.

Hope you enjoy R3 in the meantime!

Especially on the first playthrough when your life bar is still very short.

Man, I'd completely forgotten about that very practical reason

Alright, time for some additions.

I decided to play the game on PC Dreamcast Emulator (ReDream) instead and you know what? It was way easier to go further. Plus Ly was supporting Rayman (and by extension me) which made me encouraged!

I adore the gradient on the pause menu tbh.

:mryellow: Ah, the good old days where I had to use nullDC to play the Dreamcast version. And I had to manually apply a patch and recompile the emulator to avoid a crash. :oops2:

Heh.

I played Rayman 2 DC via emulation first about 15 years ago.
Back then there weren't really better options.

Then I learned that I used a compressed EU dump with screwed music, and replayed it again on a fully-functional US image. Since I already knew my way around nullDC, and had config set up and everything - I didn't bother looking for more up-to-date software.

I agree! It really captures the magical, surreal atmosphere of the game. One of a kind. :nostalgic:

It made an impression on me, since it was still an active topic when I first joined, and seeing the main admin casually using such language in a topic title was so different from any other forum I'd seen up till then!

My fave from the levels so far is The Fairy Glade. Truly R2-coded, magnificent! I also like the cutscene from the 1st mask level (AKA The Sanctuary of Water and Ice, I was close to 100% it, but missed some lums during the ice-skating show [that's how I call the sliding])
I found fighting with Axel quite easy, it went pretty fast lol

I'm glad it didn't make you run away. While I would probably word it differently today, I'm somehow happy that thanks to this place, I can still read posts written by my 20-year old self. Now what would I tell him?

I don't think Rayman 2 has really difficult bosses anyway. There are sections of regular gameplay that are much harder.

All bosses are easy except for Razorbeard / Grolgoth.
