Re: The You Game!
While looking for the certificate for the short webinar < finished two weeks ago in <'s email, < somehow remembered that < had received a message two years ago that the certificate for < completing the IT course in the community college < took back in 2022 and never opened it for some reason. Whoops. Good thing it was still there!
Re: The You Game!
< went to football practice yesterday, which had a "hit or be hit" emphasis.
As a result, <'s arm had red and purple spots all over. < loved it.

Re: The You Game!
< planted some baby conifers around lunchtime today. This is probably the weirdest tangent <'s research has gone on yet…

Re: The You Game!
< is glad you asked!
< had the crazy idea to pick up some larch (larix decidua) cones from the ground last week, to see if they could be used as a biomass precursor to battery carbon. < had been working on nutshells, which take a lot of effort to separate from the seeds and to break up, and thought that cones would be a lower-effort alternative, and possibly give better performance (worth a try, right?
)
< had assumed that since the cones had fallen from the trees, they would not contain viable seeds. So < literally thought nothing of leaving the cones all wet on a blanket of tissue, inside an airtight lunchbox in the dark of <'s cupboard in the lab…
But yeah, it turns out that wet cones that aren't ripe should be dried to release the seeds. Instead, < got this: OK, that's an extreme example, but there were several seedlings germinating inside the cones!
< tried to scoop out as many as possible, but four of the cones were so overgrown that < didn't even bother!
< decided to give the seedlings a chance, and went around finding places to plant them (or at least place them on the soil in the hope that they find a way to root
), even that obviously has no bearing on my research per se
After all that, < hopes the remaining de-seeded cones turn out to be worth it!

< wants an update on those too!
< also seems to have to be dealing with severe weather season now, as it's ramping up already this year.

Hope the weather gets better for you guys!
The sky is cloudy today, so it should be easier for < to go outside and have a nice walk even though it's like, 80 something degrees out here. Provided < takes <'s allergy pills first.

< thinks it's better sometimes to just look the other way instead of understanding what certain things mean.
Re: The You Game!
< noticed the past two evenings have been fairly cold. Tonight though it was still fairly calm despite being cold. < still knows we're reaching the end of the cold weather though.
