Other than that, my music taste has changed quite a bit since my last post here haha. I’ve kinda dropped pop punk and now I listen to a lot more nu metal. I don’t have time to list my favourite bands, just saying I discovered how hard Incubus plays on their first 4 albums since, probably harder than all the “big 6” Nu metal bands combined.
What are people's musical tastes here?

Nice tastes y’all! I like System Of A Down and Slipknot too for sure, sadly I could never really get into Disturbed past Down With The Sickness, maybe I’ll give them another shot sometime.

Ooh, quite interesting to hear this ngl!Nancy78 wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 9:29 pm How do I put my musical taste into words? XD
I literally listen to everything that's not pop, EDM, rap, hip-hop or jazz (although there are exceptions in jazz genre, Buddy Rich is amazing)
Normally my music taste goes from the oldest, starting from blues and rock 'n' roll, ending at heavy metal, specifically thrash and nu metal. Basically you can find me listening to The Beatles and the next song after them will be from System of a Down. If a band has a fine drummer I will listen to them - I am a big fan of this instrument and the musicians playing it. I also listen to video game music and anime music (the soundtracks), but there's also Japanese music here and there. It's a lot, it's difficult to sum it up XD
To make it simpler:
Fave bands: The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Police, The Clash, The Jam, The Doors, Cream, The Beatles, Black Sabbath (Dio era), Metallica, Def Leppard, Slayer, System of a Down, Distrubed, Slipknot, Pink Floyd, Rainbow
I sure do listen to some artists, but it's mostly when winter comes
Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
I have said it before in the About You topic, but i don't see why not here too
My music tastes are a spaghetti, or, in other words, quite a mess
It goes from pop, rock, jazz, electronic, some classics, some moderns (but not many, depends a lot), videogame soundtracks, fan songs and vocaloid.
I don't have a favorite band, i just listen what i feel like in the moment.

I usually listen to a radio station over here that plays a lot of classic rock. They would play a lot of the above, I even like some songs by the Doors too, and they're way before my time. I can say I like most of the ones you've mentioned, including the metal ones like Metallica and System of a Down.Nancy78 wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 9:29 pm To make it simpler:

Mostly I listen to rock and metal, but the likes of punk I like too, for example I think Green Day are probably one of my favourite bands.

You could give the entire "The Sickness" album a listen, they have some good songs on it.Greengoop wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 7:56 am Nice tastes y’all! Which songs you like by The Doors? I'm curious because it is the band that pulled me into older music.Steo wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 4:26 pmI usually listen to a radio station over here that plays a lot of classic rock. There's this specific song that I have heard a few times recently that I like:Nancy78 wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 5:40 pm Which songs you like by The Doors? I'm curious because it is the band that pulled me into older music.
It made me realise that a song from the Famicom game Gimmick very clearly was inspired by this song, well either inspired by or ripped off from.
It's extremely clear that it took inspiration from the above song either way. Some parts make that extremely obvious. The part at 41 seconds very clearly.

The base melody is Roadhouse Blues without changing a note, omg XD They nailed the conversion in Densmore's drumming, this is impressiveSteo wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 5:59 pmThere's this specific song that I have heard a few times recently that I like:Nancy78 wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 5:40 pm Which songs you like by The Doors? Fine taste tho, a great opener for the "Morrison Hotel" album

Thanks to games like Sonic CD, Rayman, Kingdom Hearts, Yakuza, and Monkey Ball, I pretty much listen to variety of genres. From dubstep infused rock, to new jack swing. From orchestral symphonies, to laidback jazz. A lot stuff is on the table
Been listening to a lot of Savage Garden and 2Mello recently

If you play Stereo Love in front of me, I will basically set it to repeat, it's the best song.
Otherwise my music tastes haven't really changed, I'm still into EDM, Dubstep, and video game music lol

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Now that I think about it, I never really shared my music tastes here, other than putting some songs on the music you're listening to thread a couple times.
If I had to choose a favorite genre, I'd have to go with Indie Rock, with Glass Beach and WillyRodriguezWasTaken being some of my favorite bands, but my music taste is generally very broad. Theres soooooooo many other genres that I listen to that it'd take forever to list them all, so I'll just mention some of my favorites! I listen to some Drum and Bass (Femtanyl and Usedcvnt), Rap (Kanye and B.I.G), Chillsynth (Windows96 and Home), and Jazz (Adja, and a bunch of songs from different artists).
As for my favorite songs, I keep a playlist on VLC of my top 10 (11 atm, theres a tie!) favorite songs in no particular order, which I check on and change every couple months, so I'll just say them and why I love them.
I Know What You're Thinking - Sam Cooper: Sometimes I put this song on in the morning to help get me ready for the day, its upbeat, the singing fits in so well with the singing, the guitar goes insane, and it feels so trippy! Although I said the list is in no particular order, my top 3 are pretty set in stone, with this being #3.
Prison Toys - Little Nightmares 2: When I first heard this song, it hit hard. The atmosphere of it, the grandeur feeling it holds, and all of the gears and music box jingles representing Six just all feels so huge. I love it.
ITS TIME - Femtanyl: Not sure how to describe how I feel about this one, but if theres one thing I can say, its that this goes hard as hell!
etch - yagrU: Sounds like a weed trip, and also goes hard while on it (very long story), but its great to put on when you're on a really long car ride in the middle of the night, or something of the sort. I also love the beat!
All Alright - Fun. (yes the period at the end is part of the band's name): This one is a bit because of nostalgia, listened to it since I was 4, as it played on the radio once while I was being driven who knows where, and it's stuck with me ever since. The lyrics feel heartfelt, the instruments all mesh together well, and combined with nostalgia, it makes for an all time favorite.
Komm Susser Tod - Neon Genesis Evangellion: I have a lot to say about this... But that gets into more personal things that I feel like would be weird to rant about to people who probably dont wanna see that (Nothing about suicide or depression, dont worry!). What I will say though, is that this song is really good! I love how it slowly collapses into chaos, everything unfolding into noise, and the lyrics also hit pretty hard.
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads: This song is so groovy! The message of life constantly flowing by, as you struggle to keep up, confused by everything around you is something I can relate with... As a high schooler. Terrified of how I'll feel by my 30's. Shockingly, my 2nd favorite song!
Head in the Ceiling (Jazz Arrangment) - CLEF 23 I already like Title Fight, and a I also like Jazz. Did I think that they'd ever go together? No. Did I ever think it would be this good? Never. And yet it is. It sounds so dreamy, like im floating on a cloud, watching the sky move around me.
Kate Said - Glass Beach: The newest addition to my list, tied with Final Duet from Omori, always makes me feel stressed from listening to it. The way the song feels like its speeding up throughout, rushing and growing in intensity is just great!
Final Duet - Omori: Speaking of the tie, Omori! (I'd recommend skipping this until you've played Omori) The only video game to make me cry! Wow! The song itself sounds nice, but tied with the events of the whole game, it was enough to make me shed a couple tears.
Dish Rags - WillyRodriguezwasTaken: This is my favorite song, it sounds great, vocals are great, lyrics are great, everything is great. 10/10!

Since reading your post, this song has been popping into my head at least once a day!Giant Chicken wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 4:09 am Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads: This song is so groovy! I remember when I was in school, I somehow on an irrational unconscious level didn't believe I'd make it to my 30s – yet here I am!
I guess when that song was written, just "going with the flow" and doing an honest day's work might have been enough to end up with a "large automobile" and "beautiful house", but I'm pretty sure that's no longer the case

Yeah, considering how chaotic the world's gotten as of late, I can't help but wonder what I'll do when I get to college, let alone when I'm done with it (If the world doesn't explode itself by then :P). Good to see that you were able to make it out of that mindset!
