Creepy indeed! Reminds me a bit of the "it's weird calling yourself" scene in Mulholland Drive…

So about this.

I've went on a wonderful Ted marathon with friends, and... I regret saying screw the series! Not that it's better than The Orville (There's simply too much content and story in The Orville to even say that), but I think it's genuinely one of the best shows currently.

Well, atleast it was... They've cancelled it after 2 seasons cause of money issues, and are now producing an animated show that takes place as a sequel to the second movie. :? I think it's a great concept, and will do well, especially considering how good the Ted series is... but, an animated series? When the whole point of Ted is that he's meant to be real? :confus: I just hope it's not animated like Family Guy.

They're also making a show about Stewie Griffin for some reason. Am I gonna watch it? Uhhhh, yeah, but I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this considering the last time Family Guy got a spinoff. :fou:

Saw Fight Club. As I expected, it was amazing. Second favorite movie I've seen, only behind Uncut Gems.

I've watched a few movies in the last few weeks.

Both X-Files movies from the original series:
  • The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998) - this movie bridges the plot of the 5th and 6th seasons and expands the main mythology of the show. Having watched the entire series, I felt that the alien mythology, at times, was inconsistent or ridiculous, but in this movie it is plausible and well-narrated.
  • The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008) - set several years after the main series ended (and before it was resurrected) - this film has nothing to do with the alien mythology, and is more like an expanded 'monster of the week' episode, with more traditional villains. Essentially it is a typical detective story, with Mulder and Scully as the detectives. Oh, and Xzibit too. :P
Not related to the X-Files:
  • Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990) - based on a play by the same author, this is a black comedy take, which expands the two minor characters from Hamlet. There is something fun in watching a different angle on a famous story - it is fun recognizing the similarities and differences, catching hints and allusions. Great performances by Gary Oldman and Tim Roth.
  • Trainspotting (1996) - Another black comedy, but such a different one. A rather disturbing window into the world of drug addiction and street crime in late 80s/early 90s in Britain. Not quite as disturbing as "Requiem for a Dream", and interspersed with comic relief parts, the overall feeling is still uneasy (as was intended). Not recommended for young viewers.
  • EuroTrip (2004) - After a streak of heavy films, I wanted something super-light, and this romantic little comedy about a bunch of highschool graduates with lots of sex on their mind fit the type quite nicely. Besides, I wanted to finally understand the context for the "fluggegecheimen" joke. I enjoyed it. It was funny but not over the top - you can get a laugh at the expense of the characters, but never get to feel sorry/embarrassed for them, as the tone is quite light. Because of some very direct sexual references as well as nudity, not recommended for young viewers.

Yesterday, I watched Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netflix (which I didn't know was based on a novel until I searched it up) with family, which was fantastic with the CGI being decent and the rest of the film that I won't spoil.

What I could tell is it involved Tova (The aquarium cleaner), Cameron (former band member) and Marcellus (the narrating octopus).

Saw Glengarry Glenn Ross, was a slow start but it picked up and got really good by the end! The final scene was honestly a blast to watch, and the reveal was great! 8/10!

Fresh on the tail of the recently completed sumo tournament I watched the Japanese comedy horror film - One Cut of the Dead. (well, not really, I watched it last night, before the final day of the tournament).

It's quite original and funny. Now, you wouldn't necessarily get that feeling during the first ~30 minutes, so here are some tips if you do decide to watch it:

1. It's in Japanese - so find subtitles if you don't know the language (I don't).
2. Don't read reviews or the Wikipedia page on the film - there is no way to avoid major spoilers if you do.

Well, I had no idea what to watch tonight so I decided to give it a try. I don't think I could summarize it better than you did!
