Re: Rayman 3
The snowboard section is pretty cool but I think I prefer the slog.
Re: Rayman 3
I don't know why but I somehow remember that world as consisting of only 2 levelsPluMGMK wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 1:28 am You mean me? I said SBTC2 is a slog, the snowboard section is SBTC3!

Re: Rayman 3
The first level is the one on the boat, so it feels like a separate world

Oh, so it was 2006-2007 version! Man, I'd like to try the og version now!dr_st wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 9:31 am Which one was it? The original (2003-2004 calendars) or the revised one from the Anniversary Collection (2006-2007)?
Try the RRR Print Studio from the Activity Centre next.![]()

Re: Rayman 3
I think the Looming Sea may have been intended to be its own level, so that makes sense.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 12:18 am The first level is the one on the boat, so it feels like a separate world![]()
Regardless, I like how they made an effort to connect it with the next section, with the boat slowly approaching the snowy peaks near the end. It reminds me of other cool transitions like in the series, such as Bongo Hills part 1 in the PC version of Rayman 1.
Re: Rayman 3
I see what you did there
Re: Rayman 3
Ah yes! The boat level also has a cheeky hidden green gem that was pretty fun to discover.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 12:18 am The first level is the one on the boat, so it feels like a separate world![]()

Re: Rayman 3
I "discovered" it by dying so many times, since it doesn't sink with the boat!
I had to actually read a walkthrough to find out how to collect it though

Re: Rayman 3
I completed the game. AGAIN! And I submitted my total score for the first time as you can see by my sig. It was quite tough to fight the final boss, not as tough as in 2021 though. And after submission I got my rank go high, holy lums! Welp, I might improve my score there one day. Just not now, I'm satisfied with the results I currently have. I'm Dr. Otto Psi now!

Re: Rayman 3
Hey all, I hope this is the right place to ask this but if not, feel free to direct me elsewhere.
Does anyone know how the 16:9 mode in the PS2 version of Rayman 3 works? I've been playing it on its original PS2 hardware since childhood. I've been trying to figure out how the widescreen mode works, but it doesn't appear to make any changes to the visuals when turned on. Not only that, but iirc it sometimes switched back to 4:3 for some reason while playing the game. I'm wondering if 16:9 just stretches the screen to fit the aspect ratio, or if it's actually a proper 16:9 mode with not stretching that's a good way to experience the game. If it's the latter, any help on how to get it working would be much appreciated.
Update: I tested it out again tonight and discovered that 16:9 mode does actually work properly. The reason why I was confused was because the hud and menus are not adjusted, but the gameplay actually is, and it's actually a proper 16:9 mode. It also turns out that the reason why it switched back was because your widescreen option is tied to your save data, so you need to set your resolution to 16:9 mode before starting a new game. I haven't tested if you can stop your resolution settings from switching back to 4:3 by just saving it again but with 16:9 mode enabled, but I imagine that could work. So to anyone reading, rest assured that the 16:9 mode on the PS2 version of the game is a perfectly good way to play the game
Another question I had though is, are the FMVs in this game, including the Wanna Kick Rayman shorts and the intro, supposed to be seen in 16:9 or 4:3? I noticed that the FMVs in Rayman 3 HD were shown in 16:9, and I'm wondering if that's because their native resolution is 16:9 or if they were stretched to fit the screen. If anyone knows the answer to this, please let me know

Re: Rayman 3
Former Rayman 3 gameplay programmer Yann Masson has just shared early development footage of the game discovered in his personal archives. Really interesting stuff, we can even see the scrapped scene where the Xowar would chase Rayman, viewed from the front:

Re: Rayman 3
Thank you Fifo! I can already see that some of the Laser-Washing Powders (if they already existed as such) were pretty different from their final versions.
Re: Rayman 3
This is crazy. The game looked really good even in prototype stage, and there are so many cool concepts visible here that didn't make it into the final game. I love that there were more creatures in the world, with some helping the group, like the Goaty helping Rayman and Globox scale a mountain, or the flying segments with the Woogla that were there before the Funkyboard replaced inter-world travel. (Seriously, it seems like every time they try to add rideable creatures/mounts to a Rayman game it gets cut! It happened in Rayman 2 2D, Rayman 3, Rayman Raving Rabbids and Rayman Legends.)
Some of the older powerups like the double fist charge (is this the "Razibus"?) looked awesome too.
It's worth mentioning that this comes after yesterday's video by Teloru, who is a fan of R3, containing interviews with some of the devs from back then. The description contains links to full-length interviews, which is a lot of interesting content overall!

Re: Rayman 3
Yeah, I'm not done watching it yet, but I can already see that Yann Masson himself is mentioned and appears in some footage from back then. So far the video hasn't revealed anything that we didn't know already, but it's really insightful to hear from the developers and how they worked back them.
Re: Rayman 3
I saw the interview and it was great! But also HOLY SHIT
WE FINALLY SAW THE XOWAR IN ACTION!! Also I finally see the scrapper underwater level and the Goaty!! i'm literally so happy! Years ago I was so fascinated by all the scrapped content in the game, I already became very happy when a 3d render of the goaty got uploaded on the wiki (personal satisfaction tbh) but seeing them during gameplay is incredible! Even the Wooglah and the prototype costumes from the concept art!! I just wish we saw more of the Zaqs but I'm still very satisfied, please let's preserve these videos!

HOLY SHIT THE XOWAR!
Thank you Yann for sharing this footage.
The video by Teloru is very good, and I was moved by the homage to Michaël Janod and Olivier Dauba. They might be gone but they still have a voice thanks to their awesome colleagues.
What are we waiting for to hire them for Rayman 4?

Re: Rayman 3
The raw video files were shared on Discord and one of the videos has audio that isn't in Yann Masson's upload. Some of it is copyrighted.
People reuploaded this upscaled (to reduce further quality loss from Youtube compression) and with the original audio intact.
The other video was also upscaled and reuploaded here, but it doesn't feature any audio.
