Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Just keep looking, there are more pearls than you think there are

I really enjoyed playing this game the first time I played! I didn't find all the pearl until the second time around, but it was an enjoyable experience.Reese Riverson wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 9:21 pm Oooh, I didn't realize Limited Run Games did something for BG&E. Though with the 20th Anniversary Edition, makes me want to get it and play it again. I enjoyed this game a lot!

Yeah and I got the pearl detector and every pearl I try to find needs money but I don’t got any!!

Yeah. It's just a really great world, nice story premise, but I can't really lock in and have fun like I do in Jak II (which seems a reasonable comparison) or Rayman for that matter.PluMGMK wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 9:17 pm You mean how all the missions involve you getting deeper and deeper into the conspiracy, and becoming a high-priority target for the military, but then when you wander around the world in between them there's an almost total lack of a sense of threat, or even urgency? Yeah, I felt that disconnect too from the very first time I played. In fact, as my mind processed that incongruity, it arguably led me to have quite a strange dream.
You have interesting dreams... I'm going to imagine you are actually Jade from now on. Could believe that.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
So far my impressions on Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition are pretty solid!
I remember even back 10 to 15 years ago, that running the original PC game on modern hardware of the era would result in graphical glitches all over the place, it's not something that seemed like you could just really fix, let alone easily.
This version of the game really fixes all of that, so you can enjoy it, and even with the optimizations done for modern 4k displays even, and the full list of game controller support for those who prefer using a gamepad is a very nice sight to see.
Given I also play on an ultrawide OLED display (21:9 aspect ratio) 3440 x 1440 resolution, it looks great on there as well.
I'm very happy with this, especially since it was on sale on Steam for like $11 USD. So I cannot complain either. I really loved the game and I'm going to enjoy playing it again!

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Yeah, you can tell quite a bit of love was put into the remaster. I was very pleasantly surprised! My only complaint is that (the remastered version of) this track never plays except on the credits:
It's supposed to play whenever you're out on the sea before you join the IRIS Network, but in the remaster you just get silence in that situation
Speaking of remastered tracks, my other gripe, not with the game per se, is that the vinyl compilation, for whatever arbitrary reason, doesn't include the remastered version of
That really made me feel a bit ripped off
I had a bit of an oh-shoot moment earlier when I realized that my Limited Run Games shipment might be going to my old work address, but I checked the docs and no, it's going to my home address!
Now I can't remember whether I changed the order at some point, or just never set it to my work address in the first place because I was already strongly thinking of leaving that job…
That was a Twixmas dream in fairness, which generally tend to be among my highest on the wack-o-meter!

Yeah, I get it. Especially as someone who overplayed it for months and now easily gets bored playing itHugo wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 10:05 am Yeah. Umm, thanks, I think
Cool, but Jonster is usually the only staff member around here who goes by "Jade"Hugo wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 10:05 amI'm going to imagine you are actually Jade from now on. Could believe that.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil
BGE2 is on my mind these days...
I can't say I'm hopeful given the drama and the amount of time that has passed. But MAN that trailer is the best I've ever seen.

We'll always have that trailer.
(even though the best trailer I've ever seen is Cyberpunk 2077)

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Which trailer, the one from 2017 with the Swiss ****ing chocolate, or from 2018 with Jade fighting alongside the Section Alpha?
