RayGamer99's fanworks

Post by RayGamer99 »

Hello there! This is where I'll be housing the different ideas, headcanons, and theories about the Rayman world on the RPC. If you guys have any questions, like my stance on certain aspects of the lore or stuff like that, feel free to ask! :D

Anyhow, I'll get things started with a character I feel almost no one has truly done justice in the world of fanworks: Raymesis. Many people just use him as the evil Rayman who's basically Mr Dark's equivalent to Metal Sonic. However, while I think that could be an interesting part of his story, I feel there is so much more that can be done with him! So this will be talking about Raymesis's creation, how he feels about Rayman and other characters, and how he formed his own team of mostly anti-heroes. Also, to keep this from being waaaaay too long, I'll split this one into parts. Didn't think I'd write this much about him... :oops2:

PART 1
After the events of Rayman 1 (which, in my mind, combines certain elements of the original game with most of the stuff from Rayman Redemption), Mr Dark realized the potential of a dark clone of the Glade's hero and used his dark powers to evolve Bad Rayman. He swapped out the "insta-killing mindless clone" aspects for sentience, fighting skills and agility that matched Rayman's, and a hatred for the limbless wonder.

Between the events of Rayman 3 and Rayman Raving Rabbids, Mr Dark had finished turning Bad Rayman into Raymesis and sent him out for his first fight against Rayman. It was a long and difficult brawl for the two of them, and the fight ended with both getting KO’d at the same time, resulting in a draw. After the fight, Mr Dark used his dark powers to take control of Raymesis and bring him back to the lair by force. Raymesis didn’t want to be Mr Dark’s puppet for numerous reasons, one of which was that it kept him from fighting Rayman again. So, he escaped from the lair and searched for someone who could help him break this connection.

This is when he first encountered the First Grand Minimus, or the First King for short. While the rest of the Glade believed that he was just another one of Mr Dark’s creations that had to be vanquished, the undead Teensy’s many years of wisdom told him a different story. He could sense that he wasn’t just pure darkness - he could tell that he was about as much as a person as everyone else, with his own goals and morals. When Raymesis told him about his predicament, he said that he wanted to break free from Mr Dark’s control. While he figured that would be the best thing to do, the Teensy could also tell that he wouldn’t always fight for good like so many others of his kind; that just wasn’t what he wanted to do. Eventually, the First King reasoned that if the Cloak of Darkness had control over him, he could become a serious threat to the entire Glade, so he used his magic powers to break his chains and free him from Mr Dark’s control. This earned him Raymesis’s respect, and the First King would go on to be a trusted ally of his and, whether he liked it or not, a mentor to him.

From there, he went his own way and spent a long time trying to get stronger than Rayman so he could take him out - not kill him, just defeat him. He figured that in order to accomplish that goal and any others he’d have in his life, he'd probably need allies like the First King to help him.

Thank you for reading! Part 2 will be coming tomorrow!

Not sure if anyone's reading these, but for those that are, here's Part 2 of my Raymesis lore!

PART 2
At some point, Raymesis found Glombrox trapped in a cage and gnawing at the bars. The Bubble Dreamer mentions him escaping a cage in Origins, so I figure this is how the two meet. When he was first possessed by Darktoons, he went on such a rampage that Betilla and the local Teensies had to lock him in a cage. He had calmed down by now, but the Darktoons' influence permanently gave him more destructive tendencies, making him a loose cannon who usually meant well - after all, he was a hero according to Legends' description - but had questionable at best ways of doing things. Because of this, many people tried to keep their distance from him, despite his heart being in the right place. However, someone like him was exactly what Raymesis was looking for in an ally, so he busted him loose with his telescopic fist. The two anti-heroes were seen as outcasts by most, but among themselves they were close allies and, as time went on, friends.

Around the time of Rayman Origins, when the Livid Dead attacked, Raymesis, Glombrox, and the First King worked together to fight them off as best they could, but despite their efforts they eventually ended up trapped with the other unlockable characters from the game. By the end of the game, Rayman and the gang had collected enough Electoons to free everyone from their bubble prisons. Needless to say, Raymesis didn’t take his defeat lightly and further desired to push himself to be stronger. To that end, the First King brought the two of them to a secluded spot in the Land of the Livid Dead where he would often relax, letting them use it as a training ground, headquarters, or just a hangout spot.

After weeks of training, Raymesis was ready for a rematch against Rayman. He left the Land of the Livid Dead and went to the Snoring Tree, only to find Rayman and his friends yawning and snoring wildly. Despite his attempts to wake Rayman up, he just wouldn’t budge; it seemed that he and the others were under an almost magical sleeping spell, and Raymesis wasn’t going to break it anytime soon. It was around this time that the nightmares were multiplying thanks to the influence of the Dark Teensies, and the Land of the Livid Dead experienced similar influxes of bad guys. Once they cleared out a wave of enemies there, the three decided to use the time that Rayman and company spent snoozing to explore the Glade and take down any and all nightmares that may be roaming there; they each had their own reasons as to why.

During that time, their adventures took them to the world Fiesta de los Muertos, where Raymesis and Glombrox wanted to see the iconic Luchador fights. Unlike in most of the other worlds, the Mariachis and Luchadores there were native to the world, but they had been turned evil and hostile thanks to the Dark Teensies. One such match is where they saw the “Traedora de la Muerte” as she took on and defeated El Luchador, one of the world’s most famous wrestlers. As they were leaving the match, however, they passed by Estelia and Selena while the former was trying to get her sister to have some loaded nachos. As soon as he saw the dark and edgy girl, he had figured that she was probably the luchadora from earlier. He decided that she would make for a good member of their team, and for more reasons than just her fighting skills…

Not sure when - or if - I'll make a Part 3 to this, since there's not much left I've thought to write about on this topic. Anyway, thanks for reading! :mryellow:

I can't say I know enough about Raymesis to fully appreciate this lore, even if I'm familiar with most of its surrounding elements, but I've enjoyed reading both of your posts and appreciate your sharing them. I'm not sure if there's any way to "react" or indicate that aside from directly making a post in your thread.

Thanks for reading eerieyuri, glad you liked my posts! There honestly isn't much to Raymesis in canon; there, he's about as simple as just being "bad Rayman," but I believe there's a lot more to him than just that.

Anywho, this time I want to make something for a form that recently came to exist: Super Metal Rayman! The main event of Brawlhalla's celebration of Rayman's 30th anniversary is, in my opinion, more than just a cool looking redesign, and I aim to share what I see in it here. Ready?

First, I want to take a second to look at this guy's design; it's just that cool.
HeavyMetalFistBHalla.png
Look at this guy! Our boy's gone Super Saiyan Blue! As if it wasn't already clear, the hood strings and shoe design further cement that the skin is based on the iconic Heavy Metal Fist from Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc - which was one of the game's two flagship Laser-Washing Powders, appearing in all kinds of promo art for the game; wonder when the LockJaw will come back... While wielding the titular fists, Rayman's hair and eyes glow a brilliant blue and fire of the same color comes from his hands and his weapon of choice: his guitar from Rayman Legends promo art and Rayman in the Phantom Show!

Anyhow, this souped-up Heavy Metal Fist is, on surface level, just that - a powered-up version of Rayman 3's strongest Laser-Washing Powder. However, I think there's more to it than just that, and that's where we need to talk about some old friends that have been brought back from the depths of the scrapped heap: the Fire Lums!
Flame-1.png

For those that don't already know, the Fire Lums were meant to appear in Rayman Origins, but were scrapped from the final game. However, they recently made a return through one of Super Metal Rayman's attack animations, which gave me the idea that maybe these are how Rayman powers himself up to use this form. When he collects enough of them - 50 or more in my mind - he would be able to harness their energy to take on a new form. Without the Heavy Metal Fist, he would assume an entirely new form, but that's a post for another time. Anyway, if he has both the Heavy Metal Fist and the required amount of Fire Lums, their powers combine to turn him into Super Metal Rayman!

While in this form, his fists are surrounded in blue fire, giving him the same powerful punches while allowing him to burn his enemies and even throw blue fireballs at them. Better still, his guitar also gets empowered and gains the blue flames while in Super Metal form, and when he plays it, blue, fiery sound waves are sent out from it that really make foes feel the burn. Once he runs out of the Fire Lums' energy, he loses the fiery form, but still keeps the Heavy Metal Fists for however much time they had left.
Heavy_Metal_Fist_Rayman.png
Well, that's all I had to say about Super Metal Rayman! This is an amazing-looking new form that I hope Ubisoft taps into in future games. Kudos to them for making this and actually celebrating Rayman's 30th anniversary! Now the question is if this is all they'll be doing... :hehe:

Thanks for reading this far, hope you enjoyed it! :mryellow:

This is really cool, it would be interesting to see Super Metal Rayman in future games. Maybe his power could be used not only as a form of attack, but also as a way to progress through the levels? Breaking doors is already possible with the regular Heavy Metal Fist but I'm sure we could think of something else....

Hey there, and welcome again to my little corner of the Pirate-Community! It's been a while since I've put anything here - largely because my mind has been on Mario lately and I haven't had much to say regarding Rayman theories and headcanons, aside from this one about Rayman's hands - but this time around, I haven't come empty-handed (no pun intended). :hehe:

The more astute RPC members may have already noticed my new, Rayman 1-themed image/signature, but for those who haven't... well, I made a new, Rayman 1-themed image/signature!
Dream Forest Duo.png
How does it look? I've had the idea of Bzzit carrying Rayman like a certain two-tailed fox for a while now, so I'm glad that I was able to make it into a real image. This is the version without my username, so it's better for general viewing.

Hopefully I'll be putting more content on here in the near future, whether that be images, headcanons, or something else entirely. I'd like to do more with this topic than have it gather dust for 6 more months... :mefiant:

Not bad, not bad at all!

(By the way, when that signature image appears in rotation, it brings your sig height above the 350px limit, combined with the link underneath :oops2:)

That's strange, I made sure the image was exactly 350px... ah well, I'll figure something out to fix that. Thanks for the heads-up! :oops2:

Edit: Just changed the signature to be in a smaller format. I had to move the scenery at the bottom up a bit to accommodate the change (otherwise it'd just be Rayman, Bzzit, and the Hunter in the sig), but I like how it looks. :hap:

Thanks Hunch, I appreciate the positive feedback! :D

Anyway, for the past few months I've been working in Blender to make some 3D images. While most of them have been Mario-related so far, I've got a few Rayman ones to show off too!

Ever wondered how Noseless Rayman became who he is? Well, this probably isn't how it actually happened, but I thought it'd be funny to make it anyways.

Ackchyually ☝️🤓 Noseless Rayman is canonically not Rayman: you play as the actual Rayman throughout the entire Spooky Raymansion series, making Noseless another twin like Tarayzan, Bad/Dark Rayman or Raymesis! 🤓🤓🤓
(That aside, great post! :) )

There was a theory once that Mister Dark and Betilla were Rayman's parents, so Mister Dark could indeed have done it :bad:
