That's right, and as concerns Armageddon, I don't think that because a concept or a word originates in something, it is a reference to that something. All things have an origin, but a reference is something done on purpose.

Is this statue a referene st Ignatios, when he looks up to heaven?

Do you believe Gumsi is a reference to Tutankamun, since both are child-kings?

Is the gladiator arena in "Desert of the kanareens", a reference to the coloseums in the roman empire?

Is the 2nd doctor a reference the the hippie-movement and the Beatles (with his hair)?

In the main menu of the beta disc of Rayman 3, the following text can be read:
Dangerous Game is a reference to the movie The most dangerous game (1934). However, another possiblity is that it could be a reference to the movie Dangerous game (1990) as well.
Special invaders is a reference to the game Space invaders (no idea why they called it that). Another possibility could be that it is a reference to the movie Spaced Invaders (1983; 1990).
Highland Drifters seems to be a reference the song The Highland Drifters by Stimela (no idea why they called it that), however another possibility is that it is a reference to the movie High Plains Drifters (1973).

I have no idea what Bad Sauce is a reference to (in-game it seems to be a reference to the witche´s chauldron, but still no idea why they called it that).

André said that Reflux "is so big and strong". Is that a reference to when Little Red Riding Hood said that the Wolf "is so big and strong"?

Is the minigame "Mad Trax" a reference to the movie "Mad Max" (1979)?

Is the plum itself and the image of Livingstones, a reference to Rayman 1?

A hoodlum is a pun. It refers to (1) a criminal and (2) a lum with a hood. Does that count as a trivia?

Is the red lum´s model (in Rayman 3), a reference to Bohr´s atomic model, with the electron circulating around the nucleus?

That's dubious at best.

Mad Trax is a video game of its own.
Rock_TBT wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 3:52 pm Is the plum itself and the image of Livingstones, a reference to Rayman 1?
It is.

More than just trivia, though it's a pretty obvious one.

Not a reference though probably inspired by it. Remember what I said earlier, a reference is something a lot more specific.

Mad Trax is a video game of its own.

Is the video game "Max Trax" (1998) in-turn a reference to the movie "Mad Max"?

Rayman 3 -> Mad Trax (1998) -> Mad Max (1972)

It´s not neccesarily obvious about "hoodlum", if a person is not a native speaker.

No idea, I have never played it.

It should probably be mentioned at the beginning of the RayWiki article, then.

Does this count as a reference?
During the development of Rayman 3, the Armaguiddons were called “Taille-Facteurs”[2] (lit. "Mailman-Slicers” in French), in reference to the TIE fighters from Star Wars, according to the PS2 demo file (according to its wiki-page).

Do you mean at the very top of the article, or under the "trivia" section?

"Hoodlum Havoc" also has an alliteration using the h-word. Does that count as a trivia?

Yes, it's a reference.

I was thinking about the very top, it's actually preferable to avoid trivia sections and integrate their content into the rest of the article whenever possible.

Yes, but it's too.. trivial to be mentioned on RayWiki. :P

Begoniax turns people into frogs. I think that is reference to the witches in Morva from the book and movie The black chauldron by Lloyd Alexander, where those withes also turns people into frogs.

About the referece to Mary Lou. Do you know anyone else with that name or title? It is obvously a reference to someone or something called Mary Lou.

Hello, I got your PM about the Mary lou thing. Admittedly I took a long time responding to it because I ain't the greatest rayman superfan so do forgive me for not being super active on here, Furthermore I'm not even allowed to PM people LOL.

I'm actually really not sure if the Mary Lou thing is a specific reference to anything, one thing that comes to mind is a Ricky Nelson song called "Hello Mary Lou"
but even then, maybe it was just a generic Fairy name the Ubi writers came up with. Poking around the web I couldn't really find any Famous Mary Lou's either, save for like a Gymnast, but I don't see why she would be referenced.

I'm personally thinking "Hello Mary Lou" to be the most likely thing being referenced here, but even then It's foggy at best, so I wouldn't call it conclusive by any stretch of the Imagination.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Does Murfy say "play the Cardigan", or did I mishear his comment? If yes, any idea what he could be referring to? I cannot find anything on the internet from the 2000s or earlier with the name "Cardigan".

That's apparently where it comes from, but if it has fallen into common usage, is it even a reference anymore?

Not that I know. He's just implying he's seen extraterrestrials.

In a promotional video, the Hoodlum says "We want you" while pointing at the viewer about their army. Is this a parody of Uncle Sam saying "I want you" while pointing at the viewer in a poster about the army?
