Re: Rayman Legends Retold
According to this article, it seems the fate of Rayman 4 does, in fact, rely on the sales of Rayman Legends Retold. Admittedly, the game does have a lot going for it - the huge glow-up the game's gotten, the enhanced edition of Origins being included with it, the whole package being $40 - but considering Ubisoft's habit of having sky-high sales expectations and deeming games like Sparks of Hope or the OG Legends "underwhelming" when they don't sell a billion units, we'd best cross our fingers and hope as many people support the franchise as possible.
Otherwise, we might be waiting another 13 years just for them to remake Legends again and for that to underperform in their eyes, and so the cycle will continue for all eternity...

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
This is very exciting. I was lurking and looking at all the leaks in real-time as they were being posted here and elsewhere, and it's quite cool to see Rayman in the spotlight again. I always was a little bit of a hater of the Origins/Legends era even back when they were newer (nowadays I mostly dislike how much it overrode the identity of Rayman, especially with "lobotomised Rayman" becoming the new face of Rayman for so long, etc), but I'm pretty excited to see where Rayman goes from here. It's cool to see these characters like... talk, and actually be characters and stuff. I was originally a bit iffy about the idea of them adding fully-voiced cutscenes to a game that didn't have them originally, but I'm a fan of how it's all shaping up to be. And yeah, as has been said already, Legends Retold + Origins for $39.99 as a whole is honestly a good deal in this day and age too, damn. I'll very likely be buying this game and playing it when it comes out.
Also, here's hoping for a Rayman 4, yeah! I'm kinda not expecting it, though. But it's nice to dream.

Checked the Steam page, and you might expect, it’s using Denuvo. The odd thing is, is that it says there’s a “5 a day” activation limit. Can anyone, preferably someone who knows Denuvo in and out, explain what that’s all about? Does it mean you can only run the game five times a day or is this for something else? https://store.steampowered.com/app/4084 ... ds_Retold/

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
So I've watched a couple of early access gameplays, and a lot of new concerns have emerged for me
Also, I saw the interview from some channel (which I don't remember the name of), the guy invited as an "aggressive rayman fan " knew like nothing
- The sound design is a lot more boring and dull, a bit toned down from the original.
- A lot of times objects are too saturated, or in general ugly. The tentacle claws are the best examples of this. The green on them in Retold is grassy and bright, whereas what it's supposed to be is this murky, more brownish color, like the swamps they live in (also they made their eyes black for some reason). This makes particular objects really eye catching - not in a good way though. Also, I don't get why the turnips are glowing now. Makes them look unnatural...
- The ray tracing doesn't work well with this game... I think.

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they are actively working on the foundations for a new full-3D game, but that it'll depend on how well Retold sells. I'll edit this message again if I found it.Rayman fan2000 wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 7:56 pm Also, here's hoping for a Rayman 4, yeah! I'm kinda not expecting it, though. But it's nice to dream.
Edit: Found it!
https://www.gamesradar.com/games/rayman ... ld-remake/
“We think it might be the time to come back with more adventurous 3D Rayman games. We are starting with that project [Rayman Legends Retold], that’s what we are aiming for, in a way, and what we want for Rayman, and we think it’s a good match, both for the players and the market. …that’s the plan! That will be the plan if everything goes well!
We are setting up a new team. We’re resetting the foundation for the franchise. That’s why also being – even though we are a bit more than a remake – being partially a remake, there are some solid grounds where we felt it was a good way to bring back the franchise.”
It means that you can only install, activate and play the game in 5 different machines, I'm not really if it means indefinitely or that you just can only have the game installed in 5 different systems at the same time. Safest bet is that it is the second.Graystripe2000 wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 8:22 pm Checked the Steam page, and you might expect, it’s using Denuvo. Re: Rayman Legends Retold
New music level.
I don't know, the level design feels a bit lacking and it doesn't seem to match the rhythm as well as the original game's music levels to me. A large part of that is the player messing up, but it doesn't seem to explain everything. Maybe it's just that the animations are less snappy or that the sound effects are less immediate, but it feels a bit off. And I don't particularly care for the song selection or its arrangement here. (Sorry for being rather negative)

Yeah, it does sound better when playing in rhythm, but I totally agree that it doesn't work as well as the original music levels.Droolie wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 10:47 pm I don't know, the level design feels a bit lacking and it doesn't seem to match the rhythm as well as the original game's music levels to me. Re: Rayman Legends Retold
I agree...
And Droolie is also right about the Murfy mechanic. Leaving that in the game without overhauling it is a huge missed opportunity. It always slowed down the pacing of the original game, and having to deal with it again here is a bummer.
The dragon rides are going to be boring from a speedrunning point of view, but you have to build the game for everyone.
BUT I feel the same as RayGamer about the Teensie-dropping mechanic. I'm gonna want to save all of them and this is going to give me a hard time.

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
I really don't want to sound like I'm here to burst everyone's balloons and to switch on the lights and tell everyone at the bar to go home, but I've had this feeling for almost two decades now and I'm really really tired of it.
I don't think Ubisoft takes Rayman seriously as a mascot, no, he hasn't been a mascot of the series since RRR, I don't think Ubisoft takes Rayman seriously as even a character.
Whatever reason they have at Ubisoft, they must have some reason to make them neglect Rayman time and time again. Repurposing RRR as a party game made monetary sense, I can't get behind it but I can understand it. Having Rayman be an afterthought in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope? I guess that's a logical conclusion of the Rabbids being more famous than Rayman. Yes, in the gaming community it's Rayman that has much higher staying power and is much better remembered, but chances are most people are more familiar with the rabbids.
Then there's the Phantom performance regarding Rayman in Sparks of Hope, it doesn't just put salt in the wound of every Rayman fan, it twists the knife.
After many many many failed attempts of catering to Rayman fans, after taking the franchise and flushing it down the toilet, finally they have one last thing to give us: A Rayman Legends remake.
Seriously? Am I supposed to get excited for this?
And it's not even like I'm at fault here for liking a game or franchise made for young people, while I'm turning 30 next year, gaming is a market of all ages and if anything I should be part of their demographic as their greatest hits came out during my childhood.
I just can't bring myself to celebrate this.... win? Technically it's a win, we're getting more Rayman.
Too bad it's more of the same, and a lot of us had this exact opinion already when Legends came out a decade ago.
Imagine SEGA treating Sonic like this, or the most obvious parallel: Nintendo treating Mario like this.
I just don't get it, I don't understand it, I don't know why they would ever shoot theirselves in the foot like this unless they were sure they can't provide a Rayman game without Michel Ancel and they're afraid of catering to the Rayman fanbase as it's been two decades at this point and it would probably be doomed to fail unless they "reignite" the series with this remake.
The thing is, if that's their reason: why not start with a REBOOT????

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
I know there's a million things to observe with this, but I have to acknowledge that having David Gasman and Billy West back to voice their characters from Rayman 3 is completely unbelievable to me. Others aren't wrong that the dialogue during gameplay might get annoying, that's totally possible, but I've also had literal dreams about hearing Billy West's Murfy again. I played the PS1 Rayman 2 first when I was a kid, so David Gasman has been my Rayman almost forever. When he returned in Phantom Show, I was really glad, but I also thought it must be a one-time fluke.
This is such a deeply personal and specific pipe dream wish that I've been granted and I don't even know what to say. I guess I just wish they'd gone the extra inch and made it an actual new game, since they've bothered to remake basically everything but the level designs.

No need to apologize, Droolie. Even if they can get needlessly pessimistic at times, people's opinions are still perfectly valid, and when presented in a respectful manner, there's no issue with expressing them. Personally, I think that from what we've seen so far, this new music level just seems so weird...Droolie wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 10:47 pm New music level.

Maybe it's the quieter sound effects or the pace of the gameplay (though keep in mind that this footage is from a pre-beta build of the game, so it's still very early) but this one just doesn't click with me either. When it comes to the level itself, this one actually feels more like Rayman Mini's music levels than the OG Legends ones.
The music style they chose to use for the arrangement isn't exactly unique - though maybe the song picks up and gets more interesting as it moves along - and while I don't have a strong opinion on the song choice one way or the other, the fact that the giant Devilbob (at least that's what it looks like) actually sings the lyrics in English makes it feel kind of uncanny. I might have been a bit more receptive to it if he was mostly spouting off gibberish (I think they could have gotten away with him only saying "Can't touch this") like the enemies in Castle Rock or if they had used instruments to represent the lyrics like in Mariachi Madness, but this just doesn't feel right as is.
I also remember seeing somewhere that they used the Macarena for one of the other new music levels, and I could certainly see that one being better since that would fit like a glove in Fiesta de los Muertos (or Mystic Mesa, as I think it's called now), but I already have a feeling that these new ones are going to be fairly divisive.
I think that part of the charm of the old music levels' music was that almost all of the covers were of more obscure songs - honestly, who here had heard of "Black Betty" or "Antisocial" (not sure why Dragon Slayer's cover credits it as "Mecapiston," but whatever) before Legends' covers of the songs? - or original tracks in the cases of Orchestral Chaos and Grannies World Tour, so I could definitely see the use of more popular music rubbing folks the wrong way. Overall, I'm still willing to wait and see what the rest will be like before coming to a conclusion on the new music levels as a whole, but they're certainly off to an... interesting start.

They’ve always been used in movies, TV shows, commercials... and are played on the radio and TV.

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
I think they were chosen specifically because they’re so memorable.
Also, Eye of the Tiger has very little to do with the Fiesta de los Muertos
I’d really love to see “Madder” by Groove Armada featured in the music levels of Retold

True, I was just making the point that the Macarena makes sense to be used in a Spanish-themed world, so it's a more natural fit than "U Can't Touch This" in Teensies In Trouble the Old Teensie Kingdom.danyq94 wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 11:43 pm Also, Eye of the Tiger has very little to do with the Fiesta de los Muertos![]()

This looks like the colosseum from RRR1 and the Rabbid ship from the RRR prototype.
