Cut Scene 1:
Ryo, Zelda, and Tael come walking out of the canyon passage onto a wooden ledge. The ledge ends with a finely crafted lift. Ryo tells Zelda that it will be unbearably hot down there and she may not hold up well. Zelda nods and lets Ryo and Tael go down while she spectates what goes on down below.
Ryo and Tael's ride soon ends as the lift hits the ground with a bump. Lava pools and streams are everywhere on this ground. With not a lot of ground to walk on, Ryo finds that there isn't anything around here but boulders... Suddenly the lift goes up without him! Ryo looks at the rising lift in shock. He quickly turns to face the largest of the boulders, for he thought he heard a sound come from it. Two large plates of rock on the boulder lift and lower, revealing a giant eye inside it. Ryo steps back and draws his sword and shield. The boulder lifts up into the air, and suddenly the other rocks lift into the air and collect on the boulder, forming a body of a giant! It has hands, arms, legs, feet, and a body with the eye-boulder in the stomach. Ripping out a thin stone pillar that held up a wooden ledge from earlier, it now has a stick-weapon.
How to Defeat:
Lavarohk is impervious to your sword attacks. And don't be fooled that you can target the eye with Farore's Wing. The eyelid shuts too soon for you to hit it. How do you hurt this thing? Well, first, you have to survive its barrage of attacks. It'll tend to swing downwardly and across. You can block with your shield, but it'll still knock you down. Side-jumping and backfliping really helps here. Once Lavarohk pulls back its stick and stabs downwardly, it'll get stuck in the grouns. Place a bomb under its feet and wait for it to blow up. The explosion will blow apart the feet, making Lavarohk crash onto its legs, which shatter and cause the body to crash, which shatters, allowing you to reach its stunned eye. Swing your sword and you'll be able to hit it 3 times before it revives. When it does, you'll have to repeat the process until you've hit it a total of 9 times.
Cut Scene 2:
Lavarohk spins out of control back into the air. After regaining stability, it spins around like it did when summoning the rocks for the first time. The rocks form around it, but in a different form - a snake-like form. The eye closes and from the air, it launches back down at Ryo onto the platform, jumping from place to place wildly!
How to Defeat (Continued):
Lavarohk, in this new form, bounces on the ground, changing direction with every impact. The most you can do is run and hope it won't go after you. The best way to avoid it is to stay near the head, changing direction as it does. That way, it'll be more likely to bounce over you than onto you. After 20 seconds of this, it will dive into the lava. When it rises up, it'll look like a snake being charmed from a basket. It'll open its eye and launch a fireball at you. Raise your shield to reflect its blast back at the eye. If you succeed, it'll get mad and fire three fireballs. Let the first two hit each other, and then let the third hit the eye. It'll get really mad and then fire two balls. Here, you have to move away from the first and reflect the second in order to hit the eye. After that, the snake will faint a moment, falling onto the rocky ground. Use your sword to hit the eye three times and it'll jump back onto the battlefield and start its deathly bouncing. Now you have to wait 25 seconds before it resides in the lava. After that, you'll have to wait 30 seconds. After striking it 9 times total, it'll change form again...
Cut Scene 3:
The snake-like form bursts apart, tossing the eye-boulder into the air. It hovers over the lava, pulling back up the rocks that had fallen away. This time, the rocks come together to make a shark-like form. The trap-like jaws shut to protect the eye. The new formed boss dives into the lava and now begins a new onslaught...
How to Defeat (Continued):
This stage is probably the scariest of them all. All you see of Lavarohk is its shark-like dorsal fin. It'll stop towards the back of the lava pit eventually. If it just rushes forward, it'll ram the ground you're on, trying to knock you into the lava! If you do, you'll be down 1 heart and have to start this stage over again, no matter how far you've gotten. In fact, any time you hit the lava, you'll restart the stage, so each stage is a checkpoint. But if you happen to stay on land, nothing will be done to you. There is one indicator to look out for - if you see Lavarohk's shark-like tail lift and sway a bit before it comes at you, it'll jump, attempting to bite you. If you see that tail, ready a bomb. When it jumps, throw the bomb in its mouth and it'll shut its mouth. Because of this, it'll soar over you without hitting you. The bomb will explode and burst open the mouth, as well as stun the eye. Of course, it's out in the lava, so use Farore's Wing to hit the eye. You can hit it between 2-3 times, depending how far it is in the lava. Repeat this until you've hit it 9 times.
Cut Scene 4:
Lavarohk lifts into the air, looking really angry. It begins to spin around again. This time, the rocks that come to it form a ring around it and extend in the compass directions with rocky tenticles. At last, Lavarohk's true form.
How to Defeat (Continued):
This is Lavarohk's real self and is easier to describe than to fight. The ring with the tenticles on it does not attach to the eye-boulder physically, so it can spin in any direction like a gyro! This sort of attack is exactly what it does. Using its tenticles like flails, Lavarohk will come at you with them either whipping virtically (in which case you jump to the side to avoid), or horizontally (in which case you'd have to jump to the side many times or run away). After the attacks of spinning stop, it'll start to slam its tenticles together. You'll know which pair is going to collide because it wiggles them a little bit before the attack. When it does make them collide, pebbles fly off at an alarming speed like bullets, so be careful not to get shot! When in doubt, raise your shield. But here's the fun part - equip a bomb to the boomerang and lock onto one of the wiggling tenticles. Release the boomerang to make it a BOOM-erang, and the bomb will be planted there. When the two tenticles slam ito each other, both explode to pieces! Repeat with the other pair of tenticles.
Once the tenticles are gone, Lavarohk has a new attack. It lowers to be right on top of the battlefield, then spins its gyro horizontally. It doesn't move anywhere, but you get pulled towards it! Throw a bomb into the whirling boss and knock out the eye. Race over to it and hit it with your sword. You'll get to hit it 3 times. Again, repeat this whole process until you've hit it 9 times.
Cut Scene 5:
Lavarohk lifts back up into the air, spinning nearly out of control. It tries to regain its stability and attempts to form into something else, but the rocks lift, drag and drop, not aiding the rock-beast in any way. It wavers, lowering in the air, then plummits into the lava. With its eye being open, the super-heated rock hits the sensitive eye and begins to melt it in ghastly green flames. Roaring and bellowing, it sinks into the lava as it gets destroyed. After a moment passes, the rock shell rises without the eye. Jumping out of the shell is another Ghost Bubble.
How to Defeat (Continued):
Simply use your shield to dissipate the ghost flames and slice with your sword to kill the Ghost Bubble.
Cut Scene 6:
Just like before, swirling winds appear in the center of the batle field as well as near the door up on the wooden ledge. The lift comes down to the ground. Feeling he should go back to Zelda, Ryo and Tael take the lift back up to where Zelda is waiting for them. Zelda smiles brightly seeing Ryo victorious. The two leave the area, entering the swirling winds. They both glow brightly then vanish from sight. They arrive at the back of the Goron City, where they are congratulated by the Gorons for breaking the curse.
