Gold is a color word describing fist, silver is a color word describing lum, both ending in bb. I think that link in the names was what he was looking at--he wasn't well-liked to start with, so he would create a username similar to someone else's and claim it was that person's alias. (GF didn't like that part too much.)

That's also a definite possibility. I haven't heard of any "Big Buster" anywhere, though.
