Only females can be lesbian.
When using the ridiculous term 'gay', we are referring to everyone.

It does (traditionally).
I don't like the new use of the term. The word's been turned into slang for 'homosexual' and 'lesbian'.

It doesn't make sense to call someone gay when they are homosexual. Because it means happy.
