That's kind of how Jona described it when he came across it. He was the first to tell me about that, and then I experienced it first hand once I learned how to really improve my score. He and I actually have the PC version though, but the "glitch" is in all versions of the game. We really can't tell if it's a glitch or just a dumb gameplay mechanic.
Really, from experience in programming, I'd just say it's lazy-asses or lack of play-testing. :\ "No one's accomplished over 10k yet, so I guess we're fine."

Well, it really isn't hard to have something in the combo incrimination like...
if combo>=10000{
score += combo
combo = 0
}
Instead of just...
if combo>=10000 then combo = 0
if combo>=10000{
score += combo
combo = 0
}
Instead of just...
