The Gods of Rayman's World
I have identified 7 Rayman characters who I believe could be gods. I'm not good at intros, so...here they are:
1: Polokus, the creator of the planet called the Glade of Dreams. He looks like a fat, stubby man disproportionately long arms and hands. He created everything on the planet with his dreams, with the exception of Rayman. Polokus draws his awesome powers from the yellow lums which make up the Heart of the World. His powers are limited; he gets weaker further away from the Glade and the yellow lums. High up in the atmosphere, or on another planet, or in space, he is vulnerable...
2: The Leptys, the night-god. He is the creator of the Knaaren. His connection with Polokus is unknown. His powers can be gained by anybody with the Sceptre of the Leptys. The Leptys has the appearance of a colossal eagle.
3: Jano, the Guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams, is a creature presumably created by Polokus. His top hat is identical to Polokus's. He is the guardian of Polokus's nightmares, a great treasure of gold, as well as the Elixir of Life.
4: Artemis, the hunting goddess of Greek mythology. In Rayman 3, she is described as being Razoff's grandmother, implying that she exists in Rayman's world and has some connection with the other gods.
5: Mr Skops, the boss from Rayman 1. In the background where Rayman fights him, an Arabian-style temple is visible, and in the left of the same background, a huge statue of Skops's face is visible. Whan Rayman finds him, Skops is sleeping, like Polokus. He can control lava. Also, the Caves of Skops, a considerably large area of Rayman's world, is named after Mr Skops. If Skops is a god, that may mean some other R1 bosses are also gods, but I am not going to go there!
6: Rayman, the only being in the world not created by Polokus, the only one able to absorb Silver Lums and turn them into powers, and the only one who could defeat all the forces of Mr Dark, Admiral Razorbeard and Andre.
7: The Great Spirit Palmito was, according to a Wikipedia List of Rayman Characters, a being that was awakened accidentally by the Griskins. Palmito then turned the Griskins to ghost and confined them to a tower to stop them waking other sleeping spirits. As this was on Wikipedia, I don't know where it came from...-__-

Re: The Gods of Rayman
Okay...
1. Jano doesn't really count as a god. Okay, maybe a little in the COBD, but he can still be beaten in there.
2. Not to be mean, but Leptys shouldn't be called the "night-god" or "creator of the knaaren. Call him 'Bringer of Night and Father of the Knaaren People'. It sounds alot cooler, AND it's what Reflux call him in R3.
3. That Artemis thing sounds kinda interesting, but i don't think she's a god in Rayman's world. I know it sounds odd, but think about it. Razoff don't have any god powers or anything like that, so maybe, Artemis lives in two different worlds, but that she isn't a god in Rayman's world. Wait. I don't even believe in Greek mythology.
4. How about Tewono? Just kidding!

Re: The Gods of Rayman
Maybe Razoff does have god powers...maybe he inherited his hunting skills from his grandmother(a hunting goddess)?
And Bringer of Night and Father of the Knaaren People sounds better, yes.
Maybe Jano's only a god in COBD, the same way Polokus is only a god in the Glade?

Re: The Gods of Rayman
Eh... but his hunting skills sucks. He keeps shooting his own furniture, and destroying his house.spiraldoor wrote:Maybe Razoff does have god powers...maybe he inherited his hunting skills from his grandmother(a hunting goddess)?
+ He isn't patient enough.
Re: The Gods of Rayman
Partly agreed. Polokus is the creator of Rayman's world so if there is a 'God', he would be one. Maybe even he's a spoof of the real God, but there's no proof of that. The Leptys is also a God I think, but contrary to Polokus, the Leptys would be a God of all that's evil in Rayman's world. Notice how in Rayman 3 it was originally Gumsi's, but Reflux stole it for Andre, who all happen to be evil.
However, when you say Jano could be a God, I would really disagree; he's a guardian. To my belief, he's a slave for Polokus (as per the manual saying he locks away Polokus's bad dreams) more than a God. Little is known about him anyway so it's hard to make a clear judgement.

You say she is described as Razoff's grandmother, but where did you acquire this information? I never found anything from the Rayman 3 manual or Razoff's bio.4: Artemis, the hunting goddess of Greek mythology. In Rayman 3, she is described as being Razoff's grandmother, implying that she exists in Rayman's world and has some connection with the other gods.

I think it comes if you 'lock on' to Razoff, and then press the freeze mode button, followed by pressing the grimace/life-bar button twice.
Re: The Gods of Rayman
That's what I meant with his bio. It mentioned something about Zaroff, but I heard nothing like what spiraldoor described.

Re: The Gods of Rayman
According to Razoff's bio, he's the son of Zaroff and the grandson of Nimrod and Artemis.
He also claims to hold the chair of Cynegenics at the university of Tyr-Kainkou.
I can't believe I memorized all that...

I remember something about his grandparents and Zaroff, but that's all.

Re: The Gods of Rayman
I think Jano is some kind of god. Isn't he the god of the Underworld, like Pluto/Hades?
p.s. I added another potential god to the list above!

Actually, Jano works for Polokus in a way.
Oh, and Mr. Skops isn't a god. He's just a huge scorpion. End of story.

Not really. As El Dango said, he just works for Polokus, in some way.spiraldoor wrote:I think Jano is some kind of god. Isn't he the god of the Underworld, like Pluto/Hades?

Re: The Gods of Rayman's World
This is what I think of the Rayman gods(?) in relation to Greek mythology:
Polokus = Zeus, King of the Gods
Jano = Hades, Ruler of the Underworld
Artemis = Artemis(duh), Goddess of Hunting
The Leptys(bird) = Oranos? (god of the heavens)
Rayman could perhaps be a kind of god as well.

This is getting stupider.
I'll have to post a facepalm when i can be bothered.
Re: The Gods of Rayman's World
Well, if you compare Polokus to Zeus, then you could perhaps compare Rayman to Heracles? =P

Re: The Gods of Rayman's World
Who? But seriously, most of these ideas are pathetic.
Re: The Gods of Rayman's World
Heracles ( Greek name ) = Hercules ( Latin name ), if you know him better with that name.
But yeah, these ideas are quite bad.
Ever even thought of it that the creators might just have forgotten about the culture of Rayman's world?

Re: The Gods of Rayman's World
I just can't imagine Rayman as a god. If he was a god, he would have PWNED Mr. Dark, Razorbeard and Andy, without any problems at all. + He would act different. Gods just don't act like Rayman does.
