That's because Rayman went from 2D to 3D. They had to make Rayman look different.

Dude, that's kinda obvious. Especially since they changed designs when Rayman and Mario turned into 3D.

Sonic, he kinda looks the same in 2D and 3D. Except in both ways, he looks retarded.
