Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Alright.
I'll definitely need help though since I'm starting my new job tomorrow.

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Still two weeks of internship in a pharmaceutical company to go for me, it does really keep me busy too.
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
I know it's been a while, and I still don't have screenshots to exactly give out at the moment (busy busy busy), but I'm mostly leaving this for Hunchman and anyone else who would possibly want to translate the game over in the future.
ALL in-game text is now external. This will leave the door open for localization (a UK English version), German, French, or other. The only downside at the moment is that unicode characters aren't available, but it should all be good enough.

Or as Nickiroonie suggested, this could even leave the door open for goofing around too.
Like a "Canadian" translation.
So anyway, as t3h1's mentioned way back, if you so choose, you can localize it into "Pheonixan" if you please.
*edit*
Stuff you've all seen before, but new HUD and such AGAIN. lawl

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, you'll have to use the GMConverter.

Not sure a program used to run something under Vista will be developed for Linux one day thoughPhoenixan wrote:Plus this is also a Windows exclusive program at the moment.
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Well, they are actually working on a GameMaker for Mac (as I said before).
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
This game still looks really nice, even nicer than it was before ( and so does the story! ) =D
And external text... great! It's also way easier to modify text that way
Anyway, I'm still waiting impatiently for this game's release. ^^

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Why is the water black ? Is it some kind of toxic water like in Rayman 2 ?
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
lol Maybe a little misleading with the black text box there, but that mountain/star/wave pattern happens to be part of the background tile (as it doesn't move). As in, you know, they had a black carved granite pattern on the wall. :\ I'll take a desert shot as soon as I can, but the water usually isn't a flat line in my game.
...there is toxic water at points though.

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Ooh, delicious.
Do you have aNY SHOTS OF THE WATER?
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Hmm, yes. Maybe if you gave the mountain and twin-moon texture some more shading like carvings have, and gave it the same colour as the normal wall itself, then maybe it would blend into the wall better. It's just a thought however.
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
So like this instead?
That will come with my batch of desert, cave, and mountain shots. I'm trying to get Phoenixan's swimming stuff taken care off before I do that. XD Even though you don't get the power to swim yet at that point, but you know...Holy Crap wrote:Ooh, delicious.Do you have aNY SHOTS OF THE WATER?
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
Yes, that's exactly how I imagened it.
btw, I took the picture myself aswell yesterday and messed around with the wall texture.

My idea was a bit flatter though, yours has more depth. And I like that.

Hey, I'm in the middle of setting up a sort of dev blog on Live Journal. I just want to get the style set up on it first... it'll just give out some weekly updates/discussions/links to other good game projects I come across.
