sfn: Congratulations from me too. You must feel a great relief that you don’t have to play this combo again. How many points do you have in total now?

I remember from the old days that some were able to combo the red gem in the last room for 60 points. Somehow I can’t do that, nor have I really made the effort to be honest. I used to combo the Matuvu with the six gems near the cage. That was before I knew I could zoom in on it with the Throttle Copter suit. The camera is indeed difficult in this part. But the way to get it is to get the first yellow gem and then wait where the first red appears. Start zooming in on the Matuvu right after the yellow gem and before the red gem appears. I can’t get it after all six gems though.

Xenon: Nice and illustrative pie chart. My pie chart is simpler. It’s all blue with a barely visible slice “Miscellaneous”.

Of your nine points I had most trouble getting to the pig on time after the second Muddibog in the hallway. Last time I played this part I lost 2x60 points. I accidentally hit the second Hoodblaster when I was breaking the cage. Also one Hoodblaster got hit by another Hoodblaster.

If the second Hoodblaster keeps annoying you (notice you can charge your fist while using the hook) then weaken him. And while talking about losing points; be careful with the two Hoodblasters that come in the same boat near the end. They can either hit each other or you can hit them both with the Vortex. You can avoid the latter by sending a charged, right curved shot at them. It should kill the first and leave the second one unscathed.

Jona: Also congratulations on passing that abomination of a combo. What’s your total score now?

As for BOM, I had to choose between two evils. Either I hit Razoff four times or I play a hellishly difficult version of part 6. I have now chosen the last option. And believe me; it ranks up there with the Hoodstomper combo in CF. One wrong hit and it’s a restart. Not enough hits, it’s a restart.

To answer your question, I finished part 5 with a double glitch, that is three hits.

Thanks to you, too. In retrospective I can say it was not that hard. I managed it on the first day and that's a great success for me. And although it was very frustrating I always knew that I could do it...with other combos I felt differently in the past.

BTW, my total score is 834175, that means I am fourth in the world again.

Not anymore :P There's a little annoying guy which name is mostwanted82 and who had got 42.728 in FC. I don't wanted to annoy me with the mushroom and the tribelle, so I brought it to an fast end, cuz' I wanted to plague me with BOM now. So I have 835.211 now.
But anyways, congratulations sfn and Jona!!! :) I know what difficult you had done.

@Xenon: I can understand your troubles in BOM very good. With the Muddibogs, I hadn't so much problems with them becuase of my Frozen-Trick. I think Jona must be able to trigger it, too.
But with the Hoodblasters I had problems, too, often I didn't beat them in time and I often fell down at the second Hoodblaster with the cage, too. I love this combo, but I count them to one of the hardest when you want to get all points there (including the bonus +30*2).
So I will today start to finish at least the three first parts (I may need shorter :P)

Congratulations for finishing TFC! Your score is now higher than mine, but don't worry, I shall catch up again!

As for those Muddibogs, they aren't causing so much havoc anymore. There's only one major problem now and that is comboing the piggybanks. Countless times, I've destroyed the Muddibog at the last possible nanosecond, jumped over the mud, dodged the fish but not even came close to the piggybanks. I'm about a second off hitting them, which is quite a lot really. Because of this, I'm going to try a personal approach to tackle this part of the combo. After the second Muddibog, I'm going to shoot the one on the left (which would be shot after the fourth Hoodblaster), then I can hit the piggybank in good time. It means I've only got one remaining Muddibog, and this results in taking a very painful, long-distance swim across the bog to the first Meadowscrew. I've tried this about ten times and I haven't succeeded yet, but I've certainly come closer than I did with the original way.

Thanks! I want you to try it. I left one important thing out: I comboed the tribelle only after 13 objects, so I lost 500 points.

Well, I don't know whether you then lie in the time, but try when you meat the second Muddibog in the corridor to jump first over the mud and then beat him while you're in the air. This may bring useful milliseconds.
And for the muddibog you'll meat after the Hoodblaster (the one who gives you the Vortex), try to beat him with a curved shot.

When I finish TBOM, my total score will be dangerously close to mostwanted's.

Well, I don't think it would work shooting the second Muddibog once in front of it because there simply isn't enough time to do so. Interestingly, some Muddibogs provide 6 second combos but others 9 seconds. I'll have to investigate but even with 9 seconds it seems too short.
For the Hoodblaster, I have no problems with him  However, if I do use my personalized method, I'll need to shoot him whilst getting in position for the Vortex can. I don't know whether anyone else has tried it but the timing is unbelievably tight.
I left one important thing out: I comboed the tribelle only after 13 objects, so I lost 500 points.
Which Tribelle is this? The one near the end of part 4? Hmm, it's strange that you struggle with this combo because I could manage it 2/3 attempts.

I'm baffled, were you in a hurry to finish this level?

Anyway, congratulations with the result and with fighting back to retain your spot on the Hall of Fame.

Xenon: I have never experienced a Muddibog giving 9 seconds of combo time. I'll even have time to put the kettle on when playing this combo.

Anyway, which Muddibog is that?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores

I have a score of 840872 I believe, but I'll check again later to see if it's correct. Apparently I scored a bit higher on CF this time (I got the absolute maximum now) than last time I played it but continued with another savegame which was on part 3 of SBTC...

Anyway, the first big combo in SBTC is really hard for me now, I totally forgot how I did it. And I found that there's a really annoying glitch that happens frequently in some levels during gameplay... if you are running straight and want to run slightly to the right for example, so you press both the forward and right arrows, he keeps going straight! The only way you can escape from the glitch is to release the forward arrow for a short while and then press it again, but it is certainly annoying.. and I need to find my old timing back to combo the Hoodmonger Officers correctly with the gems. I tried MandM's way, but it gives me trouble comboing the Matuvu correctly AND having to convert the black lum etc... I used to kill both hoodmonger officers first and then combo the Matuvu I believe, and then get the yellow gem in the corner outside the circular arena and then kill the hoodblaster who is running just near that gem. That way it should work for me again (I hope).

Anyway thanks everyone, and congratulations to the ones who improved their score again :)

By the way MandM, the biggest problem in part 6 of TBOM is probably getting the right score you need before doing the last 800 combo, right? I imagine if you get a score after part 6 that ends with 190 or 390 or 590 etc, it's impossible to reach a score of 98999 just before the final combo, because you can never afford to lose 191 points there... so that means it also depends on how you play part 5, and get a score that allows you to actually get the maximum score with the last part. So I wonder, what score did you get after part 5?

That's exactly right. Long ago when I played for 99.999 I didn't think about the next part and I ended up with 87.550 points. That meant I had to lose nearly 150 points every time I had a go at the score. Didn't make the same mistake again. I would have ended part 5 with 88.500+ points, but I decided to lose points, so my score was 88.424 points. And losing about 25 points in part 6 is absolutely fair enough.

I remember now, about the circular arena combo, I rely on the Lums glitch for the Matuvu. I must have at least two Lums from the first Elite Monger. One Lum and I lose 500 points. Maybe you can include some of the surrounding yellow gems in the combo? I didn't do that since I wanted to get as many gems as possible later with the Lockjaw.

SBTC is fun to play for, well, fun. But having to make 4½ huge combos work at the same time, that's brutal. And one extremely annoying thing, the Hoodboom behind the wooden door often commits suicide. Where's the fun in that? :pascontent:

I remember when I played part 2 TSBTC I had an awful lot of trouble with the second big combo involving the Lavomatrixes and the Hoodboom. The main cause for failure here was that I couldn't get the remaining Lavomatrix in the right position so the shot never hit him. I also struggled with opening the Hammerdoor because I couldn't find the time to after the last yellow gem. Fortunately, the Hoodboom didn't commit suicide very often for me, but I learned to avoid passing to close to him as that's what's making him do it. The last two combos were also awful for me and I never managed them. :? I gave up trying to hit that Elitemonger after so many attempts - just couldn't get the lock on to appear. And the final one, I couldn't jump up to the upper scaffolding as shown in the video for some reason. Maybe it's not possible for PS2 players.

Whatever the case, I'm going to leave SBTC right until the very end. After TBOM I will play TLS, then TFC (by this time I should nearly have 840.000) and then move on for the big TSBTC finale.

Oh, the ones at the beginning do, I'm sure of it. The one I use to combo the Matuvu with lasts more than six seconds because I can comfortably combo it. I know now that the ones near the Meadowscrews and the two preceding ones only provide six combo seconds though. Bah.

Well, I hate it generally when Hoodlums kill itself, but yeah, the Hoodbooms are the worst. Foremost cases, I really do good at the first combos and at the Lavicraft-Combo until the door, but then I hear the suicide-sound of the Hoodboom. Sometimes the Hoodboom at the snowman in the Matuvu-Room kills himself, too, which is annoying, too. :pascontent:
@Jona: I may turn a video which shows my method. Here, I weak the Hoodblaster and then I wait until I hear the sound of the landing Hoodmonger Officer at the blue can and then first I'm starting the combo.
@Xenon and MandM: You must know, I often lost my patience at Part 3 with the horrible Matuvu-Combos, so then I wasn't in the right mood to play Part 4 correctly.
Besides, I didn't play FC right and with full ambitions, I made tiny mistakes, so it was equal to me whether I get these 500 Points from the last tribelle in Part 4.
Anyway, I play FC again, and then I really try to break (in the best case) MandM's record :P :mwahaha:
By the way, I had only 15 minutes to play so I finished BOM, Part 1 (while I was tryin' to combo the Matuvu after 5 objects).
Seein' now your last post, Xenon, your method I want to use, too :D

It's a shame I can't make vids myself, xfire doesn't recognise R3.. if it did, I could record videos in-game with it. But alas.

And Xenon, are you sure about nine seconds of combo time? Then I don't really understand you're having trouble with the corridor, shouldn't it be easy then?

Oh and I think there's a useful tip for that part anyway, if there is time to do it. Like, first pass the second Muddibog and then turn around and shoot it, you'll be closer to the area with piggy banks and the Hoodblaster.

I tried using Fraps, but it slowed down my computer so bad that I couldn't even play correctly.

Oh yes, I remember trying that too once. It drops the framerate with like 300% to a level that makes the game unplayable, that's not very funny!

Yeah, I also made bad experiences with Fraps. My game was really, really slow. The funny thing is: When you record something it's groggy and slow, but when you see the video it's like nothing happened.

I've just experimented this and it is possible! There's JUST enough time to do it, but you have to be quick... even with the second Muddibog shot, I think it's still a challenge to get to the piggybank in time. Oh and I think I was wrong about the 9 second timing - I've timed all the Muddibogs in the part and it seems their combos only last 6. I could have sworn it was longer. Oh well.

I finally finished BOM. It's a bloody difficult level when going for a nearly perfect game. Anyway, I now have 851.931 points, which is only a whisker away from my goal of reaching 852.000 points. One thing though made me wonder if 100.799 points is the true maximum for BOM. I'll investigate this matter later.

Maybe there's a trick to delay the cinematic from starting, so you would be able to score the 3000 combo points and get a score of like 103599. :fou3: :mwahaha:

But I doubt that lol. Congrats, it's a very nice accomplishment.

By the way, investigating that would be amazingly hard. If you fail, you have to restart the ENTIRE level because the cinematic is automatically the end of the level. You can't choose to restart it at that point, you will be too late...
