Re: Rayman 3 Scores

Post by Xenon »

For Christ sake... so close this time. I got 87550. Everything went fine until the second scaffolding combo where I made a combo of around 1800 points (could have been 2250 or 2450 if it lasted another half second -_-) but wtf? Where are my missing points? Okay, I lost around 1500 for the last combo, another 500 for the first one, and 500 maybe for the second Spinneroo, but that's still 1500 unaccounted for. I guess I could have got 500 from the Hoodboom's Lums which NEVER seem to come my way which just sucks, but these aren't listed in the solution. Damn, I played a great game again but still not at 88500.

@ MandM: 112500 is certainly not my target! I guess I'll settle for the score when I first trigger the glitch and jump combination, but this is dependent on how easy it is. I would like 11000+ though... I don't think I'd settle for anything less.

About BOM, I'm interested. Are you exploring part 4? I had some ideas for this area.
Still, you aren't hoping to find a new maximum score, are you? You'd need almost 15000 extra points and these points just don't exist.

@ mostwanted: Yeah, I remember the areas, but last time it took me a few attempts before getting these combos right. I don't want to be restarting pointlessly because I need my main concentration on the final combo. It could take several weeks, after all.

Good luck with TFC, by the way. You're a brave guy for taking it on again. MandM once told me a nice trick that can boost the score in a specific part, but I'm not supposed to tell you. You'll have to find out for yourself 8)

Well can you give me any tips? But when MandM used this trick to get 44.650, and I don't find out the trick, I can't beat him. Well, you said boost? Sounds as would easily the point counter run up :?
And thank you, it's just I can't stand when anyone has more points in FC than I. :P
I can understand you won't plague with these tinys combos, although they bring a lot of points. I'd settle for 88.500-89.000, too.
I think Nikra said once (the guy who had 999.999 in Rayman 3), that he had a Glitch which with it was able for him to get 69.000 in FC. I know, he's definetely a cheater, but who knows....

Mostwanted: When you challenge me to a duel on FC you can't expect me to tell you where the points are :hehe:

As I said already, I believe you can get a great score there and that you can beat me. It would be great to see how many points you round up playing it your way. Let's compare notes and scores when you finish. And by the way, Xenon is sworn to silence on pain of death.

Xenon: I do believe you can finish with 87.550 points. There should be enough points in part 3 before the big combo. Why not open a new game and play part 3 to see how many points you can pick up? Then you'll know exactly what is needed when you end part 2.

About BOM, yes I'm trying to find a new maximum. I'm not sure if it is possible though. I'm trying out my luck in part 6. There's nothing new in the other parts.

You can win a few points there, but otherwise there are some other combos which can be improved: You know the wooden ramp after the first big combo? When you land on the elevation which are on the left and right, you can make some extra jumps which are allowing you to increase the combo points on 2.200+ .
This you should know, but there are another tiny improvements: The largest is, well, you know the next combo after the combo I described? There are standing two fences and ahead of them a Blockbuster. Race in the first fence, make a rotation and combo the Blockbuster after it. Then when you drive in the strange thing which let you lose 1 point (I really don't know what that is) and then jump from a certain place you get launched on the right wall, this process is repeating two times and you can make a combo of +2000 there (that's not a joke). I will turn a video from this, if you want.
Well, now the FC is going to become exciting after the first real level was as incredebly boring as the times before: 3.090. Now I will try to beat MandM. It would be really interesting if you could say which combos you improved. But first of all, I developed some combo ideas for Part 3 and Part 4, too, which I'll test out.
I watched the vid. The first combo when you're on the snowboarding track, I do exactly the same. The second one, I didn't know you could ride to the right near those yellow gems and get more flips there. I know about riding into the fence to be able to make a combo of 240/300. But if I'm correct, you're saying in the first text I made bold, that you can get a combo of 2000 there? I would be interested to know how that's possible.

The combo afterwards with the two Spinneroos can also be improved. After the first Spinneroo, you can move to the left up the ramp and you'll get some more kickflips as you go up there, and then when you go down to the next Spinneroo you can take some more kickflips. I never rode up to the left though where you can get the red gem instead and go through the tunnel... I'm not sure if that wins you too many points though. But could you explain the texts in bold further (with a vid maybe, if you don't mind doing that)?

@Jona: I could give a more detailed explanation, but I don't want too. I will turn you a video, that's easier.
Well, I've still problems with Part 3. When I get the 3-Matuvu-Combo working, I fail at the last Matuvu-Combo. I hope I didn't miss points in Part 2 with 3.090 (I've got actually the feeling I did).

That would be very nice. Then I may even try to do the part with the score I have there now :P

Anyway, part 2 (I don't call it part 3, since the 'first' part doesn't give you any points) is quite frustrating indeed. How is that last Matuvu comboed, by the way? I think it can be done with the gems there and the Matuvu trick, but it's hard, especially if you have to continue the combo after the previous gem, and THEN do the Matuvu trick..

I turned a video of this combo, here we go:

I have to admit, it depends on a lot of luck becuase foremost cases the camera goes very weird here.

Actually, it's not some extraordinary trick or some glitch that will boost your score as such. It's just an improvement of an already excisting combo. Last time I played it was several small things put together, you know, like interchanging a red gem with a yellow gem for 40 more points. The improvements I have made in FC are all small, which you can see when I improve my score with 190 points here and 250 points there.

Anyway, didn't you already have 44.200 points in FC? And with your new ideas in part 3 and 4 you will probably pass me. :(

Yeah, I already had 44.200 in FC. But when I reached this, I played a long time in a row on one day, and the rest after Part 3 isn't so difficult, so I could finished it fast then. It's just, I'm playin' 20 minutes FC and then I need a break, and then I listen to music, surf in the internet or some things like that. I can't concentrate more so good, because of some reasons.
Well, but I think I'm not able to get an improvement of 200 points from this combo, and I didn't tested out whether it works. You're right, let's compare notes and that what we have done after I finished FC.

I'd do anything for a bit of chocolate cake :manger:

Anyway, yeah as MandM said, it's not the greatest improvement ever and it may even not be worth trying. According to him it's one of the hardest in the game. [By the way Mand, are you aware that I now pose as a threat to you and your precious #1 position? :P ] It may be worth trying though because TFC is a world in which every point is valuable.

About that second Matuvu combo, I'm still amazed by it. It must require such precision to combo that creature after a gem from the ground level... and that camera looks to be a bitch. It looks even harder than the 3MC I think.

I actually feel as the only person who didn't know about this trick/improvement in FC. Why do you make such a secret out it? :mefiant: :P
Yeah, in my opinion the last matuvu combo is harder than the 3MC-Combo. The 3MC combo is hard, because you have to have good reflexes, but this one is even harder, you have to be very quick and yeah, the camera.....

Mostwanted: I think Xenon was in a playful mood and wanted to tease you a bit.

I can only agree with you, that the more points you have the more annoying it is to improve the score. You have to play the same things over and over to make them work and it quickly becomes tedious and hard to focus on the game. I too play for about half an hour and then I need a break. One's patience is really put to the test in this game.

Xenon: Yeah, I'm aware I fight a battle on four fronts at the moment. Hope I can hold on to my position for a little while yet. 8)

How are you faring in SBTC? Are you going for 88.000 in part 2, or will you settle for 87.999 or less?

What the heck? Normally it should be impossible to combo a Matuvu that high with a gem from the ground without using the trick (going into look mode quickly first before getting the last gem, then getting the gem and go into look mode again, so you can enter look mode quicker and save time). If I didn't see it happen right there in that vid I'd say you were cheating. :lololol:

You'll still have that position for a while, I think, but I'm catching up, and so is mostwanted.

TSBTC isn't going great at the moment. I have now realised that in order to get a good score, I need to get two Black Lums from the first Hoodmonger Officer in the CA combo but I'm having massive problems here. How much is it to ask for the Hoodlum to give two or more Lums? He has a tendency of giving two or three several times in a row, but then just one for the next ten attempts. It sucks. Also, in the Lavicraft combo, the remaining Lavicraft dodges my curved shot! He actually dodges it! How unfair is that? Fortunately the shot hits him on most occasions, but I get very annoyed when I miss because of this. And I think I'll settle for anything above 87500, but I do hope to get as many points as I possibly can.

Out of curiousity, how close was your score to 99999 when you triggered the launching glitch?

There's nothing more annoying than when a combo is relying on the number of Lums converted. Everything else can be perfect, but the Lums is a random factor. Good thing there aren't too many of those comboes in the game.

I assume you're asking about the score before you start the big combo with the Hoodlock? As far as I remember, it should be somewhere around 97.300 points. It could be a little more or a little less depending on how many kickflips you are able to make.

Actually, I'm asking of the score you had at the end of the final combo, but before the combo points were added.

By the way, I finished part 2 :coeur:

I got 87987 points so it's not an amazing score sadly, but I just don't feel like replaying the part. It's horrible. And now I have part 3 to endure, which will be just as loathsome if not worse. Oh well, glad to be done with the previous part.

Congrats. I wanted to say that you don't have to hit the Lavicraft with a curved shot at all, but that's not necessary anymore.

I haven't played R3 for a few days now. Too annoying...

Xenon: Well done, it will prove to be enough points I'm sure. Actually I don't know how close to 99.999 points I came. I was all tense and my pulse was through the roof. I wish I knew as it would help me if I ever have to play this horrible combo again. My guess is I landed somewhere in the area of 99.900 - 99.999.

Jona: I do share your sentiment. I'm taking a break from R3 myself. :|
