Paid for good grades?
What do you guys think?
Should students be paid money for achieving good grades in school? Do you think this acts as a motivational frightener and incentive, or is it simple bribary?

The latter. But it is a good idea.
Re: Paid for good grades?
What happens if you get bad grades then?
Re: Paid for good grades?
My parents give me money if I get good grades, so I get paid anyway!

Same. But it's a good idea anyway.
Re: Paid for good grades?
I think it would be kind of stupid since some schools can't afford that, and the kids that don't get paid will feel worse than they already do with their bad grades.
Plus, if you want money: Wait till you're sixteen, get off the couch, and get a fucking job.

Re: Paid for good grades?
I really don't think it's that good of an idea, to be honest. Where the money is all coming from is one question, plus how much (if it's very little it won't even be an incentive at all) they'd be getting. It is a little unfair to some students too. Some do try really hard and still only manage C's, while I blasted through grade school without any extra studying at all. Probably a little patronizing to those not getting anything (or less). And yes, many high school students will get a job anyways. Getting paid for grades doesn't put anything else on your resume, though getting a job in high school puts something usable there for the future and prepares them for adulthood.
Re: Paid for good grades?
Yup, pretty much. Getting paid for good grades is a bad idea. If you want money to buy that game you've always wanted, or to go see Friday the 13th when it comes out, but are too young to get a real job: See if there's a paper rout available. Don't hold you're breath though.

Re: Paid for good grades?
This would just mean more taxes.

Re: Paid for good grades?
I get good grades and I never study at all
Re: Paid for good grades?
It shouldn't be money. One should be rewarded with a cake each time you get a grade of 8 out of 10 or higher.

Re: Paid for good grades?
Nah. That would lead to more fat people with no confidence. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT JONA

Re: Paid for good grades?
Yeah, that idea would indeed be bad. As well as on taxes....
Perhaps some type of another reward would be better?

Re: Paid for good grades?
Having good grades is an reward in it's own. As long as you're class isn't full of ass holes that need to be slapped several times and would pick on you for being smart, it feels great. You never get hounded by the teachers, you get to participate in more things, your parent don't hound you, and overall it's a great feeling.

Re: Paid for good grades?
Yes. Any other kind of reward should only be at a parent's or teacher's discretion. Much else would probably mean more taxing, and more people complaining about what the tax money is funding.
Re: Paid for good grades?
No, I want more fat people with confidence, because they'll not as much be outcasts anymore, and the ideal of being slim will be wiped out.Shawn wrote:Nah. That would lead to more fat people with no confidence. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT JONA
But if you insist, I'll change my idea. Only cakes for slim people (like me
Re: Paid for good grades?
Discrimination!
Well, I tend to agree with the majority of you. It's a nice idea, but since the money could only come from taxes, it would eradicate a huge problem, especially during the wretched credit crunch business. Moreover getting positive grades (thus the ability to find good work) should be a reward on its own, and students should strive to achieve this. I know I did. Though... maybe some reward should be given aside money, I do like the idea of food prizes xD

Re: Paid for good grades?
I have a question though: Where's the meat to this poll?
Re: Paid for good grades?
Sounds to me like you're just using exactly what I said in your planets thread. Also sounds like you missed my point in it.
Re: Paid for good grades?
You have too many points. Though I see what you're talking about. I'm just teasing ya, buddy.
