What does that mean, exactly?

I'm not sure if I can explain it actually, or if I should since you're only 12.

An abortion is removing the embryo or foetus from the womb, to end a pregnancy.

I'm for it for the fact that teenagers have no experience etc. but for also women who have been raped, have no proper connection with her partner or basically cannot afford the thousands of pounds that a child costs. But it's also a sad situation really, and I've heard of women who have regretted doing it and have even taken up counseling because of the stress, or have been kicked out of their own homes by their parents/partner...

Why would they need counselling anyway? Couldn't they just have sex again? (excuse the crudeness)

And I don't mean to bring tax into it, but in the UK young mothers who cannot cope with a child get benefit money, which originates from tax payers :pascontent:

I'd like to see anyone bring on a counter argument!

I'm sure all house owners get benefit money when they have a child in the house (I think it decreases though the older they get or something).

Oh, and if you walk around here with a new born child, people passing by give you pound coins

That's one of the top reasons to have a baby in the UK - child benefit, and getting a free flat [aka moving away from your parents, something I should be doing but I'm not doing it with a baby].

My cousin is a single mum. She got banged up on a one night stand with her brother's girlfriend's brother, and she didn't know at the time. From what I heard, he is a dumbfuck prick that didn't want to know about his own child, so the boy is made to call his own grandfather "dad". While she has a loving family on her side, I don't think she can cope with the boy, who turns 4 this year - 100%, and she'll have even more problems if it turns out that he has ADD. She was 25 when she had him, and tbh, she should have known better to go around without a condom.

Single parenting is a massive issue in the UK, simply because in most cases, it's the father that walks out on the mother.

Because I haven't got anything to say!

I saw that on the news about 6ish, and it's happened to me twice now and I don't really give a rats personally.

I think teenage pregnancy is an equally mounting problem in the UK. Having children at under 25 seems to have been standardized because in my opinion children aren't being taught about the dangers of creating a life without giving thought. I can't say that it's entirely down to education, but I do think if people are being properly informed this problem would seriously lessen. Just take a look at what these kids are turning into - gangsters. They aren't being adequately brought up and so turn to street gangs and violence. It's an issue that has to be addressed!

This is highly opinionated, but I'd say the legal age to have a child should be 21. 16 is far, far too young I think. I being a legitimate father is just a thought that scares the hell out of me.

One of the volunteers at my shop had a baby when she was 17. :pfff: It's not an ideal age to have children at all, but not all kids born to such mothers turn out bad.

My mother was 22 when she had me, and just turned 21 when she had my sister. How about you guys?

Back to termination, it's one thing if you had an abortion, but to have a miscarriage is mortifying for many, like my other cousin's girlfriend. In fairness though she already has two boys [she wanted a girl] so why would she need another?

I suppose I did generalize a bit. But my point still stands for the exceptions.

I was born to a mother of 36, which is quite an old age in comparison to most.

Not as old as that Romanian woman who had a kid at 60 something, though she had IVF for it. Poor kid, usually kids born to women of at least 40 odd end up as downsies. :(

Mine had just turned 20. And I came out fine. I have friends with even younger mothers who are good people, and I know people who come from a completely fine home with old parents and what not, who are total douchebags or drug-addicts or just loosers. I have a friend, my age (16), who just gave birth to a kid, and she seems to be doing good, and I believe that if I had a kid now, I would be able to bring it up properly, if I sacrificed everything else I wanted to do with my life. Obviously I don't want one though, as that would mean I'd need a proper, stable job with good enough income to bring the snot up and have money to buy diapers for it, instead of actually living my life. I don't want to end up like my mum.
