"Is it Windows or KDE 4 ?"

Post by Joshua822 »

This is very funny.

M$ ripped off KDE 4's interface ( The interface of many Linux distributions ) and here's the proof :

http://www.zdnet.com.au/insight/softwar ... eed=pt_kde

On the laptop they've got Linux running, not Windows 7  For Windows 7 screenshots look here :

The funnier thing is that both Vista and "7" are still uglier looking than the stuff they visually rip off.

Actually, Windows 7 is quite good. It runs faster than XP on the same hardware in some cases. :\

And Mac ripped off Amiga. :O

And Windows ripped off Mac! :O

And EVERYONE IS RIPPING ON EVERYONE. GOD HELP US.

To be honest, I didn't entirely like XP over let's say... 2000.

I have high hopes for Windows 7. Hopefully, it'll be everything Vista should've been.

Oh believe me, looking at it, it really could be aptly titled "Windows Vista Should-a-been."

In fact, it really should just be a Vista replacement rather than for sale. :\ lol

Though to be very honest, I have Vista myself, and I haven't had a single issue with it. Once I got all my programs working with it, I got rid of my XP partition because there was no use for it. At first, I had a lot of compatibility issues, but once those were all fixed, I was actually kind of glad I got Vista, just because otherwise, I wouldn't have known that Fire Under Siege (for example) wouldn't have worked on it.

All I can say is Vista sucks. Looks nice, but I've had all sorts of problems mainly concerning compatibility. The computer downstairs (which is Windows XP I believe) is far more efficient.

I've never had any problems with vista. I can play old games on it.

I've installed Win7 beta on my old computer, which almost died when I tried to install the old Vista beta on it, and it actually runs it pretty well!

Yeah, that's true, 7 is a lot better under the interface. But really, M$ has ripped the interface of KDE 4 and they're getting away with it, because average people don't know what Linux looks like :(

I totally agree with you, i wish 2000 was still alive.

One word : Ubuntu

Same here, but i run Ubuntu Linux ;) Altough R2 is not supported by Wine tough. So i have to play the N64 version.

This is becoming Win7 topic, isn't it? Anyway, I also think the Seven is Vista Super Tweaked Edition.

R2 isn't actually supported by anything except IA-32 Windowses.

Side note:
Windows 95 included debugged version of MS-DOS in case you couldn't run old software.
Why doesn't Vista and Seven contain Win98 and MS-DOS?

I've tried Ubuntu, and I discovered that it isn't any better than Windows (for me, at least). It seems to me that Linux's reputation is unfairly high, and Windows' reputation is unfairly low, due to the "geek law" that Microsoft is T3h Gr34t Ev1Lz (I challenge anyone out there to convince me that Apple is any "better" than Microsoft).

I'm sticking with Windows for now.

There is Debian in Joseph Stalin's Palace (I have C++ lessons there), and it is highly stable. However, it doesn't contain things like Wine, so I don't know.

Note that ubuntu doesn't want to be better than windows and Mac OS X, it wants to be a worthy alternative. And really, it is. You can surf the web, mail, watch video's, look and edit photo's, listen to music, chat, video chat, fun games, ...

And really, most Linux users out there don't think Microsoft is the greatest evil, they just prefer Linux.

Well, Linux has a nice philosophy, and Linux is more secure. Also, it is quite user friendly, for example, preferences and installing software.

Oh Stan, Debian is one of the most powerfull Linux distributions, but it is the most complex one too

I support Ubuntu because it's great for those that like to screw around more with the hardware/coding side of things, or those that really don't do anything besides surf the web or check e-mail. If I wasn't a PC gamer, I'd have Ubuntu, but since I am, and I kinda like playing my games without worrying about "omg does it work with wine?!", I stick with whatever version of Windows I can get my game library to run with.

Yeah, but don't worry, Wine is getting better as we speak and Linux is growing largely, i dare to bet that if Linux keeps growing at this rate you can have many shooters as native Linux games within 10 to 15 years.

But Linux suites me perfectly well. And i recommend it to everyone who wants a user friendly desktop with a nice philosophy and that let's you do stuff like browsing, mail, write documents, make spreadsheets, edit/view images...

I didn't find Ubuntu that user friendly, tbh. My impression was that you have to have quite a bit of knowledge of computers to be able to utilize its full potential. Note that I only tried Ubuntu for a short period, and it is some time ago, so my memory is a bit blurred. :P

Maybe it's just because I'm so used to Windows, but I find it very user friendly. I don't find Mac OSX to be that at all. I guess it's all about what you're used to, though. An exclusive Mac user would probably say the same about Windows.

My rule of thumb when deciding what OS I'm gonna use is always gonna be: "Can it run the latest version of Football Manager?" :P That pretty much excludes Linux.

I agree with you there. I grew up with Red Hat Linux. We got our first computer from a friend.

You can run the latest version of Football Manager in Linux with Wine or Cedega. Don't use development versions tough, there are a lot of regressive bugs in it  Football manager 2008 test results with Stable version of Wine
