Sure, Linux can be made to run FM (the latest version is 2009, btw), but it's a lot simpler on PC or Mac, where you simply put the DVD in the machine, install and play.

Well, installing Wine can be done in less then a minute with Synaptic ( access it in Ubuntu with Applications > Install and remove ) and then you can simply put in the DVD and run it.

Seems like lots of new OS releases are being considered "incremental" by their developers. "7" is only supposed to be a generally incremental move from Vista, and Mac OS X 10.6 is going to be an incremental move from 10.5 (also noted in the naming--Leopard as 10.5 and Snow Leopard as 10.6). I think it's good though--with that kind of stuff, you need to slow down for a while and make sure everything's good and stable. (I think that's something AMD needs. Haven't really seen the Phenom II's, though they've been really unimpressive performers ever since multi-core came into the picture. Theoretically good specs with lackluster performance.)

No. Because Wine is not an emulator, it is an implementation of the Windows application interface. Speed most of the time isn't an issue, the most stated issue are graphical/network bugs in some programs. There are even games out there that run better in Wine then on Vista ( this doesn't go for Xp most of the time tough ) for example : World of Warcraft ( altough that's a bad example cause most of you guys hate that game, but still )
