You shouldn't go diving into any random religion just for the sake of finding the culture exciting. Have you considered the rules and regulations of the creed?

Say what? You are not allowed to think what you want until you become 18? That doesn't make any sense. :?

And I'd sooner call Buddhism a philosophy than a religion.

I agree on both points there.

I remember I used to believe in god because I had to do scripture in Primary School. Being 5 years old I thought everything I learnt at school would be fact. :tssk:

In my opinion Buddhism is far more valuable then any religion. Looking on how they look at life, about the world. And how other religions always war each other :tssk:

Baptism is a subtle form of brainwashing. But still, I'm almost seventeen and I've been given the choice of what to/to not believe in.

I think it's quite sick when parents baptise their kids when they're just babies.

Parents want their children to grow up within that religion and share beliefs, but indeed, it eliminates the decision-making completely. I suppose though, it would take years before the child would be old enough to cast this decision, so I can sort of understand why parents do use this practice.... but yeah.

I think in Hinduism you can only become a Hindu when you are born one, and cannot change your religion or something. :P

Baptism doesn't really make a difference, but the worst of it is when they do it just to have the party [which was fucking hell] and not you know, for making it Christian. My cousin did that to her son when he was 5 months, and I've wonder because as far as I can recall, she's anything BUT Christian. :tssk:

Oh and my sister's lesbian friend was baptised as well, and we all know what she grew up to be, lawl.

I think it's dangerous the way followers of religion actually do not allow themselves to consider the possibility that their religion is false.

Even though MOST religions ARE false. That much is undeniable.

Religious people do consider the possibility, a lot. It's just they immediately dismiss the thought because it goes against what they've been brought up with and what they're used to believing.

Xenon, do you dislike me or something? You seem to like insulting me and quite frankly, I don't know what your problem is with me.

I didn't dive in to some random religon, I just chose what to belive. Now I'm sorry if I'm not your idea of a perfect human being, but I can do what I want.

You, and you alone decide what to think. Your parents, or anyone else, can't force you to believe in Yahweh, Allah, Brahma, The Flying Spaghetti Monster or whatever.

There's no need to get stroppy when someone doesn't agree with you. His problem with you is that you're extremely naive and that you're not really old enough to understand how things in life work. Wait till you go to secondary school, everything will unfold there.

You don't need parental permission to choose a religion. :?

There aren't any age restrictions, either.

So all this time you've been waiting to become a 'believer'?
Xenon, do you dislike me or something? You seem to like insulting me and quite frankly, I don't know what your problem is with me.
I don't dislike you, I don't even know you. But everything you've said ever since you joined has been utter nonsense.

And by the way, where did I insult you? Actually, where have I ever insulted you?
Now I'm sorry if I'm not your idea of a perfect human being, but I can do what I want.
:? ? Other than the smilie and this small message I can't think of anything to comment here.
