The Great Protoon
Remember the plot device known as the The Great Protoon in Rayman 1? I'm wondering. What is it's purpose? Sure it's said that it's needed to keep the peace and harmony going, but is that it? Doesn't it give energy to the creatures that are living in the Rayman Universe? Or maybe it gives the nature the power to stay fruitful?
There isn't an article on it in the wiki, either.

There is, but it's not very elaborate.

Re: The Great Protoon
I think the Great Protoon is the Heart of the World. It just looks different since it was shattered into a thousand pieces and rebuilt by Teensie magic.
Re: The Great Protoon
I think that the Great Protoon is the same as the Heart of the World, but from a different world.
Rayman 2's manual stated that it's the same world... but it might also be another part of the same world.

I think it's a different thing. I think it has something to do with the electoons, and the whole negative/positive thing.

I wonder how the Antitoons fit into the negative/positive thing...

Maybe they're neutral?

Maybe they're positive, like the Protoon. If you knew anything about antimatter, you'd see why I think so.

Re: The Great Protoon
Well, I think that all the main games take place in the same world, but I think teh Protoon and teh Heart are different things. I think they just have significance for a certain region of the world ie The heart keeps things in the R2 region strong but the Protoon holds the balance of the R1 region.
Re: The Great Protoon
But the balance of what? Does it give off an energy that makes people calm?

Re: The Great Protoon
Perhaps the Protoon supresses aggression or something.

Re: The Great Protoon
If I understood the plot correctly... the Great Protoon is thing which keeps harmony of world, in other words protects it from what designer owner call Gendoors.
Explanation for all the others:
Do you remember these all situations from R1 when something appeared in place it wasn't before, like these clouds or spikes, even with you seeing that? This didn't appear in R2 and R3, so it obviously has something to electoons being in the Great Protoon (or not).
Maybe somebody who knows English better than me would understand it and rewrite in more understandable form.
EDIT: This = these.

Re: The Great Protoon
Stan is saying that Gendoors are an effect of the imbalance caused by the theft of the Protoon and the scattering of the Electoons. I think they just left Gendoors out of the 3D games simply for design reasons (there are lots of places you have to walk through in 2D games which can simply be walked around in 3D ones).stan423321 wrote:If I understood the plot correctly... the Great Protoon is thing which keeps harmony of world, in other words protects it from what designer owner call Gendoors.

Re: The Great Protoon
But there could be just bigger Gendoors (with shape of line or rectangle). No, Gendoors made game harder and that's why they were left, but nobody seems to ignore Rayman's lack of limbs because it was caused by technical reasons.

Re: The Great Protoon
A Gendoor which made an enemy appear in front of you in R1, would if R2 create an enemy which could simply be walked around.

Re: The Great Protoon
Could you walk around hoodlums in R3? In theory, you could, but you'd loose points and cans.

And those casual players who don't care about their scores could finish the game easily and would not enjoy it at all.
