Re: God...
Thank you.
Re: God...
In which case there's no point in me arguing here if I'm automatically being contradicted by quantum scientists. But my feet are still firmly rooted in the belief that the creation of matter was not random. Nothing makes me sure I'm right, but it's a credible theory and I intend to stick with it - I'm not trying to win the Nobel Prize in physics - I'm just sharing my agreement to a plausible theory.Tobbe wrote:I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. The smartest quantum physicists in the world are not completely sure whether certain events at quatum level are completely random or not, although the most commonly supported view is that they are. Logic that can be applied to all events on macro level (such as the "law" of cause and effect) cannot alwas be applied at quantum level. What makes you so sure that you're right (here's your golden opportunity at a Nobel Prize!)?
This is getting silly. I'm not trying to advance scientific development. Again, I am merely imparting my views on some scientific concepts.Tobbe wrote:And what you believe is insignificant. Subjective beliefs have no place in the world of science. Only objective results and observations do.
Re: God...
Ok, then. One little thing, though; you're not supporting a theory, you're supporting a hypothesis.Xenon wrote:In which case there's no point in me arguing here if I'm automatically being contradicted by quantum scientists. Re: God...
this is completly crazy.
ok so a collision of nothingness cant create stars and planets. im not disagreeing wit you on that. but then what do you suggest DID?
this would be the most awesome topic for my friend. please continue this discussion untill next weekend when he is coming over. im sure he would have interesting things for you to linger on.
also, what created god? what created the thing that created god? god cant just pop out of nowhere. as some1 on this topic said, everything must have a start.
suddenly, god smites me with thunder. god gains 150 xp. god lvls up! he is now level 561385847, and gains "yellowstone park eruption move".

Re: God...
No. Cheese is a good snack, but it's not my edible messiah. I'm still waiting for the coming of my nutritious saviour, as prophesised by McDonald's.

This post is a complete win.Tobbe wrote:The definition of the word 'delusion': A false belief or opinion. After all, you friend who thinks he's Napoleon also has a belief, but it's false, just like the belief that some deity kicked some humans out of some garden for eating an apple, the belief that the same deity flooded the Earth 4400 years ago because humans were mean to each other, and the belief that 2000 years ago, some dude was born from a virgin, died, and then woke up from the dead and ascended to some place unreachable for living humans where he could sit by this deity's side until armageddon and watch football and drink beer.mylifeisinsane wrote:Tobbe wrote:
If your friend suffers from the delusion that he is Napoleon, do you encourage him? Of course not! When a delusion is individual, it's called insanity, when it's communal, it's called religion.
Religion isn't delusion, it's a belief. Just because you don't believe it doesn't automatically make it a bunch of lies. I find that statement very unfair.
