No. Dragonforce are shit. The only positive thing I have to say about them is that Through the Fire and Flames provides a really fun Audiosurf challenge.soxfan2006 wrote:Am I the only one who thinks all of dragonforces songs sound pretty much the same?
What are people's musical tastes here?

I only like the one song. Yes, the lyrics are pretty lame, but the guitar is quite cool.Tobbe wrote:No. Dragonforce are shit. Music Discussion Thread
We already have "Music you are listening to now" but that topic rarely contains discussion and ismainly used for increasing post count.
This thread is for the actual discussion of music. Don't just say "I'm listening to this", that's what the aforementioned topic is for. Also, I (and many others I'd say) don't want to hear about Taylor Swift and all that shit; if it's in the top 40 chances are we don't care.
Now let's get this started...
What are your thoughts on unusual time signatures? I personally think 4/4 is overdone and enjoy listening to songs in 5/4 or 7/4.

A few examples of those would be goodHoly Crap wrote:What are your thoughts on unusual time signatures? I personally think 4/4 is overdone and enjoy listening to songs in 5/4 or 7/4.
I'm pretty sure most of the music I listen to is 4/4, I'm not doing it on purpose though lol, I don't really care about the time signature as long as it sounds good. Apparently I prefer the good old 4/4 though... easier to listen to I suppose.

Re: Music Discussion Thread
Yeah, it is easier to listen to, but nearly every song has it...
In any case, some examples:
5/4:
Queens of the stone Age - Hangin' Tree
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC_5Q2--ZfE
Cool song gnerally, imo.
Gorillaz - 5/4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93jsY-YdZ1s
The guitar is 5/4 mostly but the singing I think is 4/4 which is unusual...
7/4:
Pink Floyd - Money
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkhX5W7JoWI
The solo's 4/4 though, the wimps...
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF8khJ7P4Wg
Some snippets of this song are in 7/4.
Kenji Yamamoto -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0foCSy4Dfxw
It's from a DBZ game but listen to it anyway it's quite awesome, it doesn't loop like most video game music it actually ends properly (but for some reason the vid has like 4 minutes of blank...).
Also if you're nuts, and can enjoy REALLY wierd time signatures, you might enjoy...
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dSztjpJNNk
It's time signature changes over 100 times within it's six minute duration. Not for easy listening, but really awesome...

Re: Music Discussion Thread
I was going to suggest turning the 'Music you're listening to now' topic into a general music thread, but this works too.
Re: Music Discussion Thread
7/4 is awesome, this is like a circle... Some of my songs are in 7/4.
5/4 is quite rare though... The Gorillaz' song you've posted is cool.

Music
We already have a ''What are you listening right now'' topic, which is a topic where people only post what they're listening to, but not debating music itself.
This topic is made for people to debate music, genres, subgenres and their favourite bands.
Keep in mind though, that saying genres like Rock, Pop, Metal and Electronic have alot of sub genres.
Rock has 30-40 of them alone.
I like Punk, Electronic and Industrial rock myself, but I'm also a slight metalhead.
My favourite bands at the moment are: Rise Against, Celldweller, Blue Stahli, Muse, Three Days Grace and Pendulum.

Re: Music
I absolutely love newer dubstep.
A lot of people dislike it, branding it as "brostep", but I adore it's complexity and how different it sounds from every other genre I'm used to. It's very quickly become one of my most favorite genres of music to listen to.

Re: Music
I've become a huge fan of everything within music and instruments the last year.
I'm also a fan of Punk rock, but I listen alot to Rock and even Country
I play bass in a Punk band at the moment as well.

Re: Music
Classical and various Rocks. Also Death Metal.
Re: Music
My favourite music genre is Electronic. I also like Jazz, Rock 'N' Roll and Pop (Can videogames musics be considered too a genre?
). In minor quantity, I like some Rap, Hip-Hop and Classical musics but these three it really depends of the musics.
My favourite band is Kraftwerk. I just love everything these guys make:
I also like other personalities/groups inside the Electronic music like Jean Michel-Jarre and Vangelis:
