That's a far fetched argument you put out. You don't want to reveal your combos because I hide some combos?

Let's repeat the combos provided so far:

You: None
Me: About a dozen big ones

Maybe if you contributed with some combos first, we could have an equal discussion, but so far I'm still waiting for that to happen.

How many combos do you want me to reveal before you decide to contribute to the development of the game?

See, if I ever made an improvement, or if someone asked me for help, I told about it. I never had a problem with that. And I still don't have.

Only problem I have are those combos in FC you are hiding. I always thought your reason for doing this was that you fear being catched. And your sentence I quoted some posts ago really seemed to prove that. If your not hiding your combos because you don't want to be overtaken, what else is your reason? I really don't see another one.

I'm really willing to give my tips out. I just feel (or probably felt...) as if I was in a situation which forces me to keep them my secret.
I'm bloody curious about your FC improvements, I have to say. Probably more than you're about mine.
I won't take back what I said, although be aware that I know that there was a lot wrong with it.

However, as a last reason I have to say that I'm still struggling with showing my combos just because I don't want to show anything which you may have discovered before me, even if I may have improved it.
I'm well aware which impression you guys get from me for keeping those combos. I'm just not sure about this whole situation. And I can clearly say that this is because of the combos that you hide. No offense. It just irritates me... a lot.
I tried to improve my score on FC but there are stuff that I can't understand much well the idea of it, as some pics and videos would might help, or another tricks... :?

You're exaggerating by claiming I haven't revealed any combos. Only because I haven't played the game in 2 years doesn't mean I haven't revealed any combos. Most of what I found out was long ago. I believe most of it had never affected you in any way, but claiming I haven't done anything for the game is ignorant.

As said, I AM willing to show my combos. I understand your standings on the whole situation. And I think about working on some videos. Although this may take some time. It's all pretty close what I found out.

And again I have to point out that I'm not sure about this situation. I asked you for your reason for not telling your combos and you ignored my questions. If it's not about being first, what else is it?

I don't know why you are so focused on me not revealing combos. You should be more focused on what I actually have revealed and what you have benefited hugely from.

But ok, I can give you a heads-up on some of my reasons:

1. A long time ago I decided to make a complete walkthrough for FC with all combos on video. That project was put in the bag due to the cheat trick discovered by Mostwanted. Any PC player could thus claim to have reached the level score and refer to the combos in the walkthrough as documentation.

2. The emergence of players like Cut confirmed that is was the right decision.

3. It takes a bloody long time to develop new combos. My most recent 1.000 points took me a year to get, so it's not easy to just let go. However, I did make DOTK public right away.

4. I would like to get something back instead of being the sole provider of new combos and ideas. So before I put everything on the table, which I will one day, I will prefer to see other contributions as well. And that's where you come in. You have an idea, let's hear it.

The ball is in your field.

That what puts the argument into a whole new light.

See, I thought you wouldn't reveal your combos for other reasons. Selfish reasons.
I imagined you didn't want to reveal your combos because you wanted those points to make sure that you stay in first place.

However, it proves to be completely different. And I absolutely understand your reasons...
On a joking note, I could now just say that I'm going to not reveal my combos because of your first 2 reasons :mryellow:

Just kidding.

I will reveal them. No, that was wrong. I will reveal IT.
In fact, I managed to improve a single combo im part 4 of FC which allowed me to increase my score by over 1.000 points. I think you can guess from that, which combo I imrpoved.
Maybe I calculated that wrong, but I think it's 1000 points. If not, it's at least 800.

Just give me sime time. I'm amazed by CF right now, and I'd like to finish this one first. However, if I don't manage that today, I'll start working on those videos tomorrow.

See, I don't just doo this to make a I'm-a-nice-guy-impression.
I really want to show my combo. It just appeared to be hard to reveal those points if it seems so much as if you want to keep first place with exactly those points.

Also, I understand it when you say it's hard to give out tricks if you worked on them so lang. And the more points we get, the harder it might probably become. But this is how our community worked, and I'd find it sad if this wouldn't be the normal way some day.

And I really hope that this is out of the way now. I had my reasons for that behaviour. And I know it wasn't right. I just hope you understand how I was feeling about all that.

Somehow, these secrets gave the game an extra thrill. Of course, it would be nice to be more open but I agree with MandMs reasons and have similar reasons for not telling the stuff I discovered, primarily the 30 extra points in CF. It's a vicious circle. One player discovers something and keeps it to himself and when someone else discovers another thing he can't just tell everybody because it would give up his advantage.

Haruka: Depens on MandM and if he's satisfied with how it ended.
However, if he is, I will be pretty happy about it.

sfn: I agree. Those secrets made the game even more interesting. Anyway, if this means that we'd have to go through more such arguments, I'd prefer revealing everything instantly...

Well I also ask politely :( for sorry about my previouses comments because I also thought in the same as Ajax, just because it was a very possible reason. I feel sorry once more...

And yes,by what sfn said, he is right. The secrets make the game even more special and interesting, as it gives the will to the player to replay the game to try to improve its score as he/she explores the mechanics. :P

Hmm, did anyone really see me as selfish? I cannot imagine how you of all people could do that. After all, fixing your Tribelle problem for free is a rather selfless act in my book. No-one could benefit from this than you. Maybe that's why I reacted so strongly. I was being very disappointed that you did not immediately return a favour, or rather many favours.

I probably can

Hmm, would I reveal the new max. score in DTOK and fix your Tribelle combo if that was my only concern?

My sentiments exactly.

Yeah, it's a Catch 22.

OK, back to game:

Image

I'm going to play FC again right now. I think I can get around 250 points more there. Also, this makes it possible to record my combos without wasting any time :P

MandM and Xenon: I asked already 2 pages ago when that horrible argument started. Could you 2 post your scores here so that I can compare them to mine? I'd really like to see what I can improve. I'm planning to reach at least 850K points. I know that I can win 250 from FC and I want to get past 850K with DOTK, which provides 500 points. So that's still 250 points missing...

EDIT: Holy crap, I actually can't believe that I finished part 2 of FC on my very first try. Also, there's still one thing I have to admit: I was also lying about my score in part 2. I actually managed to extend the maximum to 3.150 points. I didn't tell that yesterday because I wanted to prevent a further argument. Instead I decided to record my extended dwarves combo in order to apologize for that.

However, please note that this combo took me a good 5 hours of practice. Getting to the group of three dwarves after collecting the 3rd yellow gem is hell. And if you don't collect that gem the way I did you'll practically never reach the group in time. All you're going to earn from this combo is 60 points.

Go there:
The extended dwarves combo

MandM: Did you know about that already? If yes, did you probably find an easier way to do this? I'm not asking for combos anymore. However, after I uploaded my video in part 4 (which I obviously have to reach first) could you then at least tell me if that is the improvement you found? All I'd like to know if this is the combo you extended. I can't imagine that I can get more points out of part 4, but if you'd tell me otherwise I'll be happy to search for them on my own.

Nice combo there.

DTUCC: Great video! And I can see you lured the 30 points out of sfn. How did you manage that?

sfn: Great video also. I pass that yellow gem by walking carefully to the left of it. No strafing. Maybe your method is better. How are you doing in part 3 so far?

I haven't played very much over the last 4 or 5 days but DTUCC gave me a little help, which should improve my chances. However, I don't know if I will be able to play frequently in the next few days.

About the video: Last time I played I looked for ways to avoid that gem. Walking didn't work at all, so I tried jumping. I found this method after a while and it has become part of my standard repertoire in FC since then.

MandM: sfn and I made a deal. I recorded the 3-matuvus-combo for him and he made videos of two other FC-combos and explained me how to get those additional 30 points in CF.

About my game progress: I'm already at the funky board again. My score is 36.740, which is and improvement of 330 points. Also, I got 2 videos and I want to say some things about them... I'd suggest to read the text first, then watch the videos... However, do what you like :P

The extended 3 Matuvus Combo

As said, this video was recorded some days ago on an extra savegame, which explains why I have only 600 points and not +3000. I have to admit that I really was thinking of not uploading it. I saw you guys talking about this awful combo which takes quite a time to master. The only thing I got told was to pick 6 yellow gems from the lower level before getting the matuvus. So I had to make up my own route, which I am pretty thankful for. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't improve the combo in score, but in difficulty. Probably your going to disagree, or maybe you were doing it the same way, but I think I made the 2nd matuvus WAY easier to get. It's still a challenge, though, but it's far away from being dickish.
However, I decided to upload this. And I have to say I feel a lot better now that I did.

Next video:

Part 4 - The extended first room combo

I believe that's what I deserved for making the other combo easier. Again, you may disagree with me, but this combo is a bitch. Running to the mushroom takes hell of practice and luck. The jump from the mushroom to the five gems burns in hell. Not sure, how a jump can burn, but it seems to me as if you only have a 25% chance to do this, if you haven't practiced it for plenty hours. Then again you have to combo the matuvus which is almost as close as the jump.

Bla bla blah, enough said. Watch the videos and tell me what you think.

EDIT: I'm done with FC

Image

I'm pretty sure the only thing I can improve now is mostwanted's combo. However, mandm, I ask you again:
Is the extended first room combo what you found? Or did you find a major imrpovement in another room of part 4?
I don't care which room, I don't care how you improved it. I only want to know whether there's still something I can find.

Absolutely amazing!

Your version of the 3MC does look a lot easier. I already considered taking the second Matuvu while in reverse but I never managed it... but I gave up on the extended version soon after so I didn't give it much chance. That gives me some motivation. Do you take the fourth Matuvu downstairs for 1500 points or the conservative 1000?

As for part 4, well I'm not going to attempt that combo. I'm sure MandM will remember I practised hitting the Meadowscrew after beating the Hoodblaster but I think I only ever succeeded once. I also struggled to take the Matuvu in combo at the end. So, I admit defeat on that one. :P The launching glitch you used is intriguing though.

And to answer your question, I believe my current TFC score is 43300~, so there's definitely room for improvement.

Yeah, those videos are completely awesome! Great job.
Weeks ago, I had to clean my computer, and I had to install it again. I had problems with the installation, but now everything wents fine. I'm taking a break from BOM and play the DOTK for Maximum Points, I'm already in part 2 :)
Next goal will be 44,000+ in FC, then I'll play BOM for 100,799. After I managed that, I'll hopefully be 2nd or 3rd :P But well, this will take a quite long time.

Xenon: damn, you're 1.500 points behind in FC and still I don't even have 400 points more than you?
I believe you have a lead over me in LS? As said, I lost 600 points which makes my total score there 41.550. This means I can get like 3000 points in SBTC and LS which definitely sucks.

I took the matuvus downstairs for 1000 points in combo. As I already said, I consider this being the only possible improvement for me. However, that depends on what MandM has found...

However, my furhter planning looks like this:
I'm going to play HH for 109.209 points, then I play DOTK for the maximum. That leaves me at a score of 849.919 (correct me, if I'm wrong, I'm horrible at calculating...). I can get those points in LS for sure...

Is there anything else you're majorly ahead in? my scores look like this at the moment:

FC: 44.730
CF: 109.789
BOM: 100.799
LOTLD: 119.599
DOTK: 109.359
LS: 41.550
SBTC: 109.833
HH: 109.109
TOTL: 104.499
Total: 849.337

I wrote what I had in mind. The DOTK score could be wrong as I may not remember that one correctly.
