Razorbeard is dead.

Post by Admiral Razorbeard »

At the end of the Rayman 2 (PC) game Razorbeard escapes from the
ship that explodes with a flying chair.
Seems like Razorbeard survived the combat with Rayman.
But that isn't true.

I guess you've all heard about the 1000th lum hidden in
the Tomb of Ancients. It is in an enormous secret grave guarded
by some pirates. That's the grave of Razorbeard, because no one else
would be important enough to deserve a big and guarded grave like this
one. Also, why would the 1000th lum be in a grave of some random
person, if Razorbeard has eaten it earlyer in the game?

Ly says the following at the final battle:
"Destroy Razorbeard and our victory will be complete".
After the ending sequence the following words will appear:
"Rayman, today we honor you".
But.. If they already honoured rayman because he has destroyed
all the robo-pirates and freed all the slaves indirectly, why
should they honor him again? Because he killed Razorbeard.

Also, at the credits Razorbeard flies in his flying chair between
some lights that look like stars. Stars = heaven = death.

Why didn't they tell us about Razorbeard's death at the end of the game?

Because Rayman is a 3+ game, at the Rayman games the word
"death" doesn't excist (see also rayman 3, Andre isn't destroyed but
he changed into a red lum), but the older people had to know that he's
dead. That's why.

I think this is true.
Discuss here.

Sorry for my bad English.

Now that is a good theory... but you can get to the 1000th lum before you battle Razorbeard, and they could have thought he died but were wrong. Also, maybe stars mean that you're, oh I don't know, flying through space maybe? :boon:

Although you're wrong about no character's dying in any Rayman games- remember Reflux?

Why would an evil mass-murdering robot slave-trader go to heaven? :?

We actually hear Razorbeard say farewell to Rayman and head up the mast toward the exit. Now why would Ubisoft do this?

The best paragraph in your post is the third one, but even that is a little farfetched.

About that thing about death, he certainly does have a point. In Rayman 1, none of the bosses die (except Mr. Stone, but maybe heads are like hats for him - He can just take one off ant put on another one at ease) but maybe standards changed in R3.

Yes, that's true, but then the whole passage would be gone before killing Razor, so that's alot of work I think..
+ that you won't look there anymore if you wanna find the 1000th lum..

Yeah.. Reflux dies, that's true.

Told you the answer already.
What would a game for 12+ people be if your biggest enemy wouldn't die at the end?
For 3~11 people it could be a bit scary (or other things like that), so they couldn't tell it at the end.

If he has to go to hell the credits would look a bit too dark and evil for a Rayman game...

Why would Razorbeard be dead? He's clearly shown flying away before the bomb went off.

And what's the trouble with killing Razorbeard in a 3+ rated game? Rayman's killed a whole bunch of Robo-Pirates. In fact, Ubisoft made quite a point of not killing Razorbeard, probably to leave the door open for him to return in a sequel.

Your theory is interesting and all, but I find it highly unlikely.

Ah, I'm sorry, didn't notice the "edit"-button.

Well, what would they do else?
They also go to the graveyard..

Hm, does the lum that Razorbeard has eaten went to a big grave by itself? Don't think so..

WHAT? I actually took you seriously until you said that.

Rayman kills hundreds of standard robo-pirates beforehand... why not kill the leader? Come on, this argument is fail.

Because Razorbeard has a personality and the robots doesn't. The robots you can't "miss" if they're dead, Razorbeard you can.

Why would you miss Razorbeard? He's the one who enslaved all his friends xD

I don't think I've ever seen such a peculiar point.

And I don't really know how to answer. :?

Yep, but it's not that you miss him, it's that you can miss him because he has a personality.
If I was 3 years old and I loved Razorbeard as much as I do now, I would have cried if I heard he's dead..

I believe that Rayman 2 and RTAS are alternate histories of the same time.

Because UbiSoft missed him because he's awesome :D.
Well, I guess the TV series and the games are two apart stories?
I don't know anything about the TV series..

In my opinion, (an opinion I only recently accuired), the TV series happens before R2. Which would explain, if Razorbeard really is dead, why he's alive in the TV series. It would also explain why he's the sidekick of a circus ringmaster one minute, and nearly ruling the world the next.

Excuse me, but in the credits Razor is traveling in SPACE, because Razorbeard COMES FROM SPACE.
And if he was dead, why he would appear back in Rayman 3 GBA and the Rayman TV series, or even in Rayman Kart for mobile phones, and Rayman M/Rush/Arena?

There is another theory that Razorbeard just went to space to escape, and that he will never come back. Don't be SOOOOO pessimist.

Then I say: Bowser should be dead, after falling in lava many time, no? He isn't. Just a little expample.
Razorbeard was really an AMAZING baddy. If Ubisoft wanted to make him come back, they would do it, EXACTLY as they did for the games I said just before.
