Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
In order to improve RayWiki, I've been playing one of the worst Rayman games ever lately, Rayman 2 Forever. I've finished the game, but there seems to be a bonus level which I haven't unlocked. I can't be bothered to replay all the levels for all the lums, but if some of you helped me, it would be much easier.
All you need to play is Visual Boy Advance. Here is the rom:
Rayman 2 - The Great Escape (E) (M5) [C][!].gbc
And I suggest we attach the save game file to our posts every time we make progress.
I've replayed several levels with a red symbol without finding any lums, so I'm not really sure what it means. Thanks for your help anyway!

Seems interesting, I'll help!
Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
I didn't know a Rayman 2 Forever even existed! I've just completed Revolution after discovering it didn't save last time I had played it (-_-) so this'll be interesting.

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
At least, the controls are great, since it uses the same game engine as the GBC version of Rayman, but the game itself sucks. We just have to find the missing lums.
Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
I finished the game but with 96% percentage... I think that around 30 Lums were missing. The worst of the game is not being possible to revisit levels.

Exactly why does everyone hate this game? I think it's at least better than Rayman 1 on Game Boy Color.

If it wasn't possible to revisit them, I wouldn't post a save game of the world map and ask you guys to help me find the missing lumsHaruka wrote:I finished the game but with 96% percentage... I think that around 30 Lums were missing. The worst of the game is not being possible to revisit levels.

- Total lack of scenario
- Poor graphics
- Horrible artwork
- Boring gameplay
- Redundant artwork and cut-scenes
- Only two decent enemies in the game (and thus no real final boss)
- Glitches (the first time I killed the final boss, nothing happened)

There is a world map?!

Well, a large, tedious level in which yo ucan select parts of a level. But how you enter them I also haven't figured out...
Are there bosses in the game, like Axel etc? If so, how do you beat them?

This game is quite poor, though I don't think of R1 GBC as being particularly better.

There are only two real enemies in the game. The rest is just flying bombs, bats, spiders and weird balls, which you can all kill in one hit.need my speed wrote:Are there bosses in the game, like Axel etc? If so, how do you beat them?
The graphics are optimal for the console, the game is much longer, features a lot more enemies, has awesome artwork and various levels, and the last one is really awesome with Mr Dark's spells (including Bad Rayman) and the final battle itself.spiraldoor wrote:This game is quite poor, though I don't think of R1 GBC as being particularly better.

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
The graphics are terrible compared to the PS1 version, the PS1 version is much longer than the GBC one, the PS1 version also features more enemies than it, has far more awesome artwork and various levels, and a much better final level. Or am I missing the point?Hunchman801 wrote:The graphics are optimal for the console, the game is much longer, features a lot more enemies, has awesome artwork and various levels, and the last one is really awesome with Mr Dark's spells (including Bad Rayman) and the final battle itself.spiraldoor wrote:This game is quite poor, though I don't think of R1 GBC as being particularly better.

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
It's a really bad game. Indeed, only flying bombs, poor graphics and level design (sometimes you can hang or stand on things, but sometimes it's part of the background), boring and repetive, bad graphics (Rayman 1 on the Gameboy looked much better), I didn't even know where the level ended, I thought that portal was another yellow lum, etcetera...I've given up on this game, sorry.
Anyway, thanks to Drolpiraat, soon I'll be able to play Rayman Arena (the Gamecube version)...

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
Yes you are: you cannot compare a game developed for a 8-bit console and a game developed for a 32-bit console from a technical point of view. It's just like saying Rayman 3 is much better than Rayman 2 because it looks betterspiraldoor wrote:Or am I missing the point?
Oh by the way, is someone ever gonna help me with that crap game? xD

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
No it isn't, because there's a bunch of other reasons the PlayStation version is better than the GBC games. But Sean actually doesn't realise this.Hunchman801 wrote:Yes you are: you cannot compare a game developed for a 8-bit console and a game developed for a 32-bit console from a technical point of view. EDIT: What. How can this thread be in two forums at the same time?

Re: Finishing Rayman 2 Forever
I also prefer the original game, but what I'm trying to say is that the GBC adaptation is one of the best games ever made for this console. All the other reasons you have listed are also linked to technical restrictions when it comes to the GBC.
As for the topic, I moved it to the Rayman forum in order to get more attention but I also left a shadow topic in the RayWiki section.
