Rewards for contributing to the wiki
A thought crossed my mind to get more traffic to the wiki. I was thinking at first about ting rewards for every, lets say, 50 words you type, but then I figured that would lead to an increase in spam.
However, then I thought about a new currency alongside the tings; silver lums maybe? For every contribution (that's over a certain limit of words, so then people won't just post 1 word) you get rewarded a silver lum! (but if it doesn't qualify under the rules etc. they can be removed)
They can be donated (or not, I'm not so sure) just like the same way tings are, or swapped for tings to boost people's ranks. They could also be given out as prizes in contests etc.
What d'ya think? This is all I've come up with so far.

Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
Why would an extra reward system mean any less spamming than Tings? Also, it would mean more work for Hunch and Romano, and probably cause this forum to be down while setting it up. Worse, the Wiki could be down while setting it up.
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
Yeah silver lums are good..... or red Tings!!
There are different kinds of tings in Rayman games.... like Rayman designer.

Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
Why not simply 500 Tings (or something) per good article (checked by Hunchman or whoever else is Administrator / Moderator)? And per good edit 50 Tings or so, or perhaps 100, whatever.

Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
That would be good, because, as I say, adding a secondary reward system would be cumbersome and pointless.
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
Yeah, I think if rewards were to be given they'd have to be in Tings. It's quite a nice idea but as you said, the Wiki would become clogged with nonsensical articles and random stuff posted by clueless morons.
I quite like the idea of a new currrency though. Perhaps 'Black Lums'(?) could replace the current Warnings, and maybe 'Silver Lums' for good actions or something. At least that would be some incentive to act decent.

Warnings should remain warnings, why make it more complicated and weird-sounding? The more useless modifications you add the less welcoming the forums will look imoXenon wrote:I quite like the idea of a new currrency though. Rewards for good actions..? Sounds a bit hard to manage too, I mean someone will have to decide which actions are good enough for a reward (and there will most likely be people that won't agree AND people who'll beg for rewards), and give away those rewards too etc etc...
tbh you'll just create more pain in the ass for the mod team (or whoever is going to manage it) if you add sth like this but that's just my opinion :\
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
It's a fair point but I disagree. Besides, this place needs Raymanising and creating a Black Lum system would not only be a nice touch but also innovative.Warnings should remain warnings, why make it more complicated and weird-sounding? They'd be given at moderators' discretion, so should eradicate those problems.Rewards for good actions..? That's what I think too, and I notice that Xenon didn't respond to this part of the post.Matyuv wrote:tbh you'll just create more pain in the ass for the mod team (or whoever is going to manage it) if you add sth like this but that's just my opinion :\

Black lums would be helpful for pointing out the boony people!Xenon wrote:It's a fair point but I disagree. Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
So are warnings
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
But what's the difference? All we'd be doing is renaming them 'Black Lums' and giving them a small pic or something.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact I'm a moderator myself.and I notice that Xenon didn't respond to this part of the post.

You have been warned! >;(
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
Hmm, going on the whole Lum thing... maybe we could tie it into the gender icons instead.
What??Yes but that would give you an incentive to respond to it.
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
What about gender icon in text right next to the username?
ie. Xenon♂

Different-coloured lums for different contributions. Red lums for particularly good edits, yellow lums for new pages, black lums for warnings, things like that. Lums should be non-transferable and should appear under your avatar on the forums. They would be a true indicator of one's worth to the community, unlike tings and ranks.

I really like this idea, where they are practically scarred onto your thingy, but the tings and ranks are fun though- they can't be removed! I still like my idea of the silver lums for the wiki, however.
Re: Rewards for contributing to the wiki
I don't think we should make it too complicated, but I certainly like the idea of a Lums currency for good/bad behaviour. Maybe we could set up a poll about it if there's enough demand
