Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
What do you think of Rayman 3? Discuss what feelings(
) you have about it here. Again, there are some versions of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc that people haven't heard about. I'm listing all of them here. The poll should help you decide which ones you like. State your opinions here.
You have two unchangeable choices,
pick wisely
This poll is a successor of, "Rayman Games and Opinions 4: Rayman M/Arena" and a predecessor of "Rayman Games and Opinions 6: Entire Rabbids Series." Choose wisely, comment wildly, and have fun

Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
The best version of the full blown Rayman 3 on consoles is Gamecube, hands down, just because of the added minigames and GBA connectivity exclusive to that version. Too bad not too many people own this version as it was delayed or Gamecube wasn't that popular.
I also love Rayman 3 GBA but for wholly different reasons as it's not the same game at all. But it certainly rivals the original Rayman for the best Rayman 2D platformer game. Isn't the NGage one the same game?

More or less, I think so. Haruka would know.syntheticgerbil wrote:I also love Rayman 3 GBA but for wholly different reasons as it's not the same game at all. But it certainly rivals the original Rayman for the best Rayman 2D platformer game. Isn't the NGage one the same game?
PS2 and GBA. They're the only two versions I have, so you can't expect me to vote for any other.
Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
Rayman 3 on the GameCube was very smooth, and didn't have as many glitches or mishaps as in the PS2 or PC versions. I don't know how the XBox version is, however.
Though in the others, there are some extra little touches compared to the GC version (turtles have saying when you kick them). Unless that's just a fluke on the GC copy I have, where they don't say anything.
Overall, they're basically all the same (except for the portable ones), so I'm not going to bother voting.

The PC version of Rayman 3 had a higher resolution than the PS2. The PS2 had a lower res. with more glitches. I don't know about the Gamecube or Xbox versions. Without the mini-games, the GBA versions is for the N-Gage and N-gage QD, I believe.
The Mobile version is sort of like the GBA port. The digiBlast is like the PS2 version, but has a lower res. still.

I used to have the Xbox version until I traded it in for the Gamecube one, but it seemed about the same just with less minigames. The Xbox has more processing power and a more capable graphics card than the Gamecube, but that doesn't necessarily apply to ports. I imagine they run about the same. It's possible it could have had higher resolution textures and better sound quality, but that's hard to say without seeing the original files and comparing.Rayman123 wrote:The PC version of Rayman 3 had a higher resolution than the PS2. Do you know the highest resolution available on the PC version? I could tell you then if it beats the resolution for both the Gamecube and Xbox versions which support Progressive scan. The Gamecube version can also do widescreen, but I forget if the Xbox one does as well, and certainly have no idea if the PS2 version does.
Xbox games are notoriously frustrating in figuring out if it supports widescreen because the box never says and you usually don't turn it on ingame, as it automatically happens once you tell the Xbox your TV supports widescreen.

Go ahead and try. I noticed that the bright colors, like on the battle of Reflux(Final Boss), that the colors weren't as bright as the PC battle. Your can also notice the lower res. through out the game.

Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
I've only ever had the PS2 and GBA version, and I haven't got round to playing the PC version yet, so I stuck with those two. I've been considering swapping my PS2 version for the Gamecube one.
AFAIK the NGage version isn't quite the same as the GBA one but again Haruka would be able to confirm it.

Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
I voted for GBA and PS2. I was going to vote for the PC version because it's got much better graphics, but the controls are just so crap. Plus, the GBA version is one of my most favourite Rayman games.
Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
Oddly enough, the PC version doesn't support widescreen or anything outside of 4:3 ratio, really.. well, it does support 5:4 (1280x1024). You can edit the .ini file to get 16:10 or 16:9 however.. as I did on my newer desktop.
I'm not really playing the PC version anymore, because I forgot to take the disks with me.
Another issue I find with the PC version is that, if you notice on the box, it says next to the CD drive requirements "CD-RW's Not Recommended."
That's right, because of the copy protection software they used, it chews up the CD's if you're using a CD-RW drive. The PC version of BGE did the same for me. So it's usually a good idea to just go onto a website and download a crack if you wish to save your disks. I wound up buying ANOTHER copy of the PC version of Rayman 3 because of chewed up disks (the inner ring of the 3rd CD was so bad, it refused to spin anymore).
Actually, the PC version sucks just due to that, now that I think about it. Just get a crack and don't fuck around with the disks or Ubi's half-assed pirate protection bullshit.

so that must be why I was having trouble installing Rayman 3 PC when I got it. What a bunch of tryhards those anti-pirate companies are.

Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
It really depends on the game. I thought Rayman 2 for the PC was excellent, but Rayman M for the PC is REALLY difficult for a non-gamer like me to play. The fact you have to use both sides of the keyboard and the mouse just to see where you're going is something i can't get my head around. The PS2 version is so much easier and much more fun.
Same for the handhelds. I've played some HORRIBLE Rayman games on handhelds, but I loved the original Rayman game for the GBC and Rayman DS is excellent.

Hey, Raygirl. Haven't seen you on here in a while.
Of course, at the time, I didn't really care, because I think the PC version was only about $15-$20 at launch. So when I bought another for $10 later, it didn't seem like a big deal. I just gave a friend the older disks to use later on, because he told me he could fix them, then I used a CD crack. These days, I would be very ticked off just because you can't get anything other than indy games for $20 unless there's a big discount deal going on.

Well that would explain it, the PC version has the best resolution, although at the same time it's cool and it sucks you have to go into the ini to force widescreen.Phoenixan wrote:Oddly enough, the PC version doesn't support widescreen or anything outside of 4:3 ratio, really.. well, it does support 5:4 (1280x1024). Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
Oddly enough, just doing the "width=x height=x" trick in the shortcut didn't quite work out, but I think that the config program overrides that kind of stuff. Could work for others though.
That trick did work on Rayman 2 for the PC, to force it into 1440x900.

I wanted to vote for the PC one, because i have that one..... but then i realised the GC version has extra levels..... and that the GBA one is good too... so i voted for those 2

Re: Rayman Games and Opinions 5: Rayman 3
The PC version is good, but I'd prefer the PS2 version. I finished the entire game on the PS2 the day I got it. The GBA version is hard, because I got it a couple months ago. I still can't get through the entire game.

Locking these topics. If you really want to express your opinions on these games, there are already stickies. You don't need 6 polls for that.
