Mail to Bruno Bouvret

Post by MasterHero »

Well i posted this also in BG but people there aren't really intressted in it or are to lazy to discuss it
So hopefully i've more luck here :-)

"Who is that guy?" you may ask. Well he worked on Rayman Designer and made the editor for the public and he also worked on RAYMAN 2 2D !!. Here are more informations about him: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/bruno-bouvret/14/987/68b

Well he doesn't work at ubsoft anymore and all these things are years away. But i want to send him a mail with a few questions. Maybe we have luck and he answer. So it would be good if you post your opinios about my questions or add some quetions. At the end someone must translate this to french (i don't think he understands english very well) and register at linkedin to end him this (i think thats the only way we can contact him. when nobody wants to register there i'll do it).

So here the mail text i'm workin on:

Dear Mr. Bouvret,

I and some other people from

https://raymanpc.com/forum/

are great Raymanfans. We love Rayman Designer (which you worked on) and always wondered why it was so limited. After some years and experiments we found how we can change the graphics and add/change events. Also we have found a lot off things which were messed up or never used before (unseen sprites). So we have a few qurstions for you. We know its quit a while since you worked at ubisoft so maybe you wouldn't remeber everything. But I hope you can answer us at last a few of our questions:

1. Why is the Editor of Rayman Designer so limited? We found a lot things which could have been available, but we had to discovor them fist (like automtic screenmoving, arrow sings, red antitoons and a lot of other stuff)

2. We have found some never seen before sprites (look at the image at the bottom. So maybe you can tell us a bit about the functions, which were planed for them (but didn't worked)?

3. We know you also worked on Rayman 2 - 2D, which got canceled. Can you tell uns something about it? Was the story the same which got the 3D Rayman 2?
Maybe you have some screenshots of it?

4. Is there any hint or trick you want to share with us what we can do with Rayman Designer to get more stuff (maybe what we need to do to find letters and numebrs and can place them in maps like in the "Learning with Rayman" series).
That would be very gerat :)

sincerely,
a lot of Raymanfans

Nice idea here, but I think you can cut the first point, the editor is limited because they thought it was enough, that's all. You can also count on me to translate it to French ;)

I'm far more interested in R2 2D than I am in their reasons for limiting Designer. We should ask him about the story, characters, bosses, worlds, and any gameplay mechanics that weren't in the PS1 level.
