@MandM: I tried it once but I didn't even come close so I don't think it's possible. But maybe you find a clever way of doing it. I was rather thinking about a way to get up there fast enough in the end of the combo but that didn't work either.

@Hunch: It's not an easy combo but not that hard, either. The main difficulty is the two yellow gems after the Matuvu, especially the second one. That one's really tough but when you've done it, the rest is not that hard.

Breaking the piggybanks in combo with the gems near the mushroom is something I was never able to do (in MandM's hoodlum combo for example), and I don't think this will change anytime soon ^^

I do this part a little differently from MandM's Hoodlum-combo. Taking the yellow gem in between the menhirs before the piggy banks the way I do it, makes this part a lot easier. MandM takes them after the red gem on the pathway and that's really hard. It is why I came up with this alternative version.

I was thinking about using that yellow gem and a Slapdash to reach the gems at the upper level, but if you have tried it I won't bother trying myself.

It is true, it's quite hard to reach the Pigs after the red gem. I have actually changed that part when I play this level, so I also use the yellow gem to reach the Pigs. It never fails, whereas the combo would fail two out of three times with the red gem alone.

Haruka: Cool! What level will you play next? If you look at the video from sfn maybe you can get some ideas to increase your score in LOTLD?

I'm still not sure which level I'm going to improve now... On the FC for example I need help on the statues combos, when getting the hands back.

You'd probably be able to expand the combo into the original room by avoiding the gems near the menhirs and taking the gems to the right en route. The HMF would obviously run out somewhere in the cave though, but I guess that would only be a minor loss. In fact, you might even be able to come back into the room with the Slapdashes to collect the remaining gems if you leave some spikies untouched. The possibilities are endless.

@ Haruka: Your TFC score seems reasonable - I'd opt to play a level in which you can make a large improvement. TLOTLD seems like the most logical answer as you can make an improvement of around 27,000, and the gameplay is fairly straightforward if you follow MandM's solution. :)

Maybe it'd be a good idea to add the up-to-date best scores possible on each level to the first post in this topic?

Matyuv: Good idea. I can probably undertake that task in my next long holiday.

Xenon: Could be fun to take it all in one big combo, minus the Secret room and the Slapdashes of course. I seem to remember it's quite hard, if possible at all, to get from the red gem to the Hedgehogs(?) in the hallway on time. Maybe this community can hand out a load of Tings as a reward to the one who gets it first?

I might practice the 2nd version one.

I can also try up, it's my favourite level. :D

I'm not entirely sure if it's possible either, but a piggybank could always be broken if that would ease the problem at all. And yep, it would be interesting indeed - I'll gladly donate 5000 Tings to he who can manage this combo and provide some recorded documentation. It would be nice to have a bit of friendly competition around here.

It's a pretty tall order to get all gems with a powersuit. One can start like the Hoodlum Combo. There will be some small changes in the area with the Shock Rocket. If we lower the Meadowscrew beforehand and if we discard the gems behind the waterfall, one can take the gems around and on the Meadowscrew and continue the combo with the middle Pig. Get these gems and break the Pig with one red gem (don't take the gem) and continue the combo with the gems below the waterfall (leave one or two for the run back to the last Pig). Get the Shuttle Copter powersuit (the HMF will run out here) and run back, collect the gems that were left behind and break the last Pig. Continue with the first batch of Hedgehogs (which gives a long combo) and collect the gems from this last Pig. Run back through the tunnel and collect the gems. Finish off the last batch of Hedgehogs and collect the gems. When you reach the ones in the air, you have to skip a few. Renew the Vortex and collect the gems around the stone formation and continue with the ones in the air. Use the few gems you left behind to continue the combo towards the Matuvu.

One can experiment with getting more gems with a powersuit by using the HMF through the tunnel. This requires some tricky use of a Pig and the Hedgehogs. The idea is to get as fast as possible to the Vortex, clean the first area and run back through the tunnel and finish in the second room, all done with the Vortex, which has been renewed in the process. This last version is hell to play.

That's pretty impressive. But it's probably due to the beginnings. It hasn't been active really lately. As I'm just posting here, I'm gonna start playing again soon maybe.

Yeah, it's been quiet here for a while. I hope I can play again next month and it would be cool of you would start again. The holiday is here in six weeks' time, so...

Since my laptop has the multiple keys problem, I can only pick up the game when my desktop PC gets fixed, I hope it gets fixed this weekend... :(

I have played a wee bit recently when I made the video of the Piggybank Combo for sfn. I guess I'm ready to start practising the new combos by the end of this month and come the X-mas holiday I will give it full throttle.

Are you ready to play again soon? Did you replay LOTLD by the way?

Basically I'll start replaying TLOTLD again when there's a bit more activity here. The prospect of playing to improve my score, completely alone, seems a bit too much I think.
