I had to leave the Bog of Murk quite far from the Marshes of Awakening, as some pre-release R3 announcement said that the Bog of Murk, Land of the Livid Dead and Desert of the Knaaren were part of something called "The Underlands", which would contradict the Bog of Murk being near the Marshes of Awakening. But really, there's nothing in the games that suggest they're near (unless you think the Sssssam statues are somehow evidence).

And, something I forgot to mention...Drolpiraat's fangame is set in the cyan part of the R1 island map.

I probably would, but it's arguable. Razoff traditionally likes to go out into his marshes to hunt Muddibogs and other marshland creatures... it's likely Sssam was set up as a statue to represent a prominent member of his prey.

Yes, I was thinking about it yesterday while playing R3 GBA. You get to ride Sssssam in the 'Swamps of Begoniax' levels. I've decided to change my map to show the Marshes of Awakening and the Bog of Murk closer together. I guess the Underlands doesn't all have to be one place; it could be seperated into a couple of unconnected areas that are referred to collectively as "The Underlands", much like Alaska is part of the USA. I'll fix it...

I love this comparison. :P

However, I find it more likely that the Marshes and the Bayou are also part of the Underlands. I'd also say that the Bog of murk can still be close the the marshes AND TDOK/TLOTLD. You see, I figure that the Marshes, the Bayou and the Bog are probably all connected by water, meaning that in R3 GBA Ssssam might take you through the marshes and the bayou to get to the bog.

I've modified your map slightly to explain. The lime green is one version of what the underlands might be, encompassing TBOM, TDOK and TLOTLD, as well as TTOTA. The darker green line is a possible extension of it which encompasses the marshes and the bayou. As far as I can tell, this one has no holes in it according to any official canon, and it allows for the Bog to be close to the other marshes while still being near to the other parts of the underlands.

I hope all this made sense...

Well, there seems to exist an official map showing the locations from R3, which pretty much nullifies both our maps. :o

That map may no longer it exist... so until we find a copy, let's stick with ours. :P

One thing though, with the desert of the Knarren and the land of the livid dead being close, that means that you'd have irish-y rainy lush places boarded by a massive smoldering desert- kinda creates massive climate/weather issuees. Also with the tower of the Leptys being on the other end of the map to the Deserts of the Knarren, why and how would the Knarren build and worship something so far away, considering they seem to always stay under the ground.-just a thought, sorry to be a tool but i really love this whole idea of finally connecting up the worlds (especially having the glade of dreams as the main part, it was always my favorite) and want to make it make 100% sense. Who knows, Michel Ancel might stumble across it and release the next game with a great new world map that he designed *all by himself*. :hehe:

We know that the Glade of Dreams is where the events of Rayman 2 take place, and Rayman 3 seems to take place in something called 'The Crossroads of Dreams', which I suspect may be part of the Glade.

I propose the name 'Valley of Dreams' for the location of the events of Rayman 1.

I suspect that at least one copy of that map exists somewhere in the world...though I'm not sure if we should be trying to find it, or destroy it... :mefiant:

~If we do come across it, it may be possible to superimpose it onto the Glade map (perhaps between the Menhir Hills and the Tomb of the Ancients). But that depends entirely on what the R3 map's coast is like. We'll see...

Maybe we should try and find it, the more we get the more accurate (both by our ideas, and Ubisofts) this map will become.
I didn't even realize a map for R3 existed, should be good to find...

The Crossroads of Dreams is actually the literal translation of the name of the Glade of Dreams in French (La Croisée des Rêves). In my opinion it's just another localisation incoherence and both names actually refer to Rayman's world.

Well, that's good. I didn't like the idea of R2 and R3 being set in different continents or whatever.

I've been trawling through the archives, but I've had no luck yet. Hunch, it wasn't on hoodlumsworld.com by any chance, was it? Because the bastards have blocked it from the archive with their robots.txt thing.

I'm not sure. After the game was released, hoodlumsworld.com redirected to the official website, didn't it?

I wouldn't know, I wasn't around back then. But if this map had stuff like "The Umber Swamp" and "The Summit of Fury" on it, I assume it was around early?

Before the release of game. If I remember correctly, the different places, enemies and power cans were unveiled progressively.

Since people have posted their map ideas, this is the one I use of my fanfics and games. It builds off some of the ideas already mentioned by some, but I took the liberty of adding in my contenents and maybe inacting a sort of magnetic pole reversal. I also picture their planet as being slightly smaller than Earth, but that's just... you know... an idea.

I also never really liked the idea of Mr. Dark being Rayman's father or whatever. He's just a dark magician or wizard - the sort that's rotting inside and out because of their self-sacrifice for obtaining forbidden knowledge.
