Holy cow, everyone seems to be somewhat discriminating the Wii console...

Since I got my Wii on the European launch day I still today venerate it, the same thing happens with all the other consoles I have... but I have a particular opinion about the N-GAGE: despite of working exceptionaly well to me, what astonished me it was the "console" discontinuing so fast either the model and the game production.

Discriminating would mean saying it's bad without playing it. These people have experienced it and abandoned it soon after.

What I'm thinking is that everyone is too much loyal to Sony...

Loads of people can go for long periods without playing on the wii, xbox or whatev but may still wish to keep them for when they want to. It's for that reason I still have my Megadrive.

@ Spiral: if your sister wants a Wii then that's up to her, you don't HAVE to touch it.

A reminder to all: crap faux-games did NOT start with the wii, as demonstrated below. [note the composer of the music]

That video should be on the Worst Games Ever topic I've made.

I didn't say that it wasn't up to her and (I thought I made this clear) I have no intention of touching it, unless this involves modifying it so that it plays actual games.

The existence of crap faux-games is not the problem. However their ridiculous popularity is a very big problem, and that DID start with the Wii.

Why else then, do you think Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Simpsons Wrestling on the PS1 sold like hotcakes when they came out?

What? Are you asking me whether they sold well, or are you asking my why they sold well?

They were chart games, that is why. If a game, regardless of being good or bad, is in the charts in anywhere that sells them, it will sell well and therefore be popular among casual gamers and again it did not start with the Wii.

Games don't sell well because they're in the charts. It's the other way around. And just because a game sells well does not mean that it will be popular among the 'casuals'... certain medium-to-hardcore RPGs for example can be popular among actual gamers yet will inevitably be ignored by the mindless masses who'd prefer their shovelware. What precisely are you saying "did not start with the Wii"? Bad games? Bad games which make ridiculously greater amounts of money than quality games?

Spiral, why must you start an argument over the slightest thing?

I explained like 100 times that there have been bad yet commercially successful games since the NES days but we're all still blaming the Wii on all of today's gaming problems aren't we?

If you guys are that unhappy with your wiis, yeah just sell them, surely someone else would love to have one. I'm happy with mine, Haruka's happy with hers, so what's the big deal?

I recall discussing this previously. The Wii has raised bad games to a level of popularity that considerably exceeds that of almost every good game in a way that I don't believe has a precedent. Like many others, I'm displeased with the situation.

I see no problem with a handful of people on a game forum expressing their opinions of a games console. There is no "big deal" that I'm aware of.

~Unless the last five or six posts have made it such? We digress.

My gaming laptop and my gf's 360 kind of get more use these days. It's really all on what sort of games you like. :) lol Unfortunately, I do kind of have the personal opinion that the Wii has turned into a high-tech exercise machine. With the Wii, I can't quite come home from an exhausting day, or a day of running or biking about since I don't own a car, and "relax" with a game.

Because graphics aren't everything, the graphic on a game can be extraordinary and rest being like crap. :?
Of course I am. I said 'quality', not 'graphics'. Although good graphics are always welcome, while 'innovation' can sometimes ruin games. See Mirror's Edge for a good example...

~Games don't need to be 'different' or 'original'. Look at Rayman, for example.
Actually, it's not a matter of being different being the problem. It's the matter of being different and actually pulling it off.

Mirror's Edge, I quite admire. It was fun for the first half, but they did kind of have to make it feel off by bringing gun-play more forward later on.

I agree, the wii's popularity has just clattered the shelves with "family fun" and "brain training" games, not to mention there's always been these games anyway, like what Stacey's saying.

I only found the Wii fun for the first couple months I had it, then I was kicking myself afterwards that I'd wasted good money on it. No recent games for it have appealed to me, unlike that of the 360 and Ps3, which I don't have.

The Brain Training games appeared first on Nintendo DS, don't forget that Acarr.

And since ever that exists either good games or bad games for all the consoles (And computers).

Regarding the "Wii's not responsible for bad games" statement that's been thrown around, I disagree. It might not be fully responsible, but its USP brought about a huge amount of games specially designed for its main value. If the Wii's design had been different, the games manufactured for it would be and hence would be better.

Yes, quite a few games have been ruined by having their development focused on the Wii. Including that one game. You all know the one I'm talking about. I hope nobody names it though; I'd like to think that as a community we're beyond that.
