Amusing you was not my intention, I assure you...
Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
So what was your intention? To embarass someone? I'm pretty sure you didn't do that either. I think you were just trying to be smart.

His intention was to dish the dirt on Kleaneasy, whom he hates.

Plum: You think he's talking about a different thing than he is talking about. Read the bottom of the last page.

Oh, nevermind. I don't like Kleaneasy myself.

Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
Neither do I really...
Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
I don't remember why I don't like her, but I could check an older post of mine to see what I said, if I really wanted to see why. But I do know she was annoying.
Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
Members will be (and have been) punished with bans and Ting deductions for continually posting short and useless messages. Please... regard our posts as first-line warnings - we aren't just typing to exercise our fingers. My purpose was not to complain about the short post; it was to make fun of the moderators' tendency to repeatedly say "Longer posts next time please" to absolutely no effect. Perhaps I was being too subtle; quote the post in question to see a secret message.

Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
Editing posts to say "Longer posts next time please" (or anything to that effect) simply doesn't work in my opinion. I don't think temporary bans and ting deductions are utilised nearly enough. Bans and deductions ftw!Xenon wrote:Members will be (and have been) punished with bans and Ting deductions for continually posting short and useless messages. Disclaimer -- What follows is solely my opinion and should in no way be taken seriously:
I believe that Acarr and Tobbe use the 'useless-post-warning' message a little too much. I've never seen you, Holy Crap, Hunch or any of the French moderating team use it at all, and I've only seen Stacey and Matyuv use it very sparingly. I think PC was doing just fine without these warnings for the last six years. Editing all posts which contain only one or two or three words so that they contain the useless-post-warning seems silly to me, given that single-smiley posts and '+1' posts and their kin are still made. I find it slightly annoying that I must occasionally add several words of unnecessary padding to some of my more concise posts just to get them up to an acceptable length. Disclaimer over.
My only wish for this rant is that you all understand my opinions on this matter; I am not asking you to agree with them or take them into account in any way. I am not attempting to respond to or criticise the moderating team and their choices; I am only sharing my views on this small matter with the forumgoers.
~I get the feeling that I will regret this post at some point; oh well.
Mlii: It... never mind.
Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
Generally Acarr and Tobbe only edit posts that contain no discussion value... it's just this can usually be changed if the post length is increased.
As for the post warnings, they're handy tools that allow us to justify the punishments (that will naturally follow if these warnings are ignored).

If it offends you that all the posts I labled epic were against you then sorry, that wasn't my intention.

I wouldn't exactly call it “subtle”, but it's just my opinion (and probably that of most right-thinking people herespiraldoor wrote:My purpose was not to complain about the short post; it was to make fun of the moderators' tendency to repeatedly say "Longer posts next time please" to absolutely no effect. I would agree here, but our goal is to continuously improve the general quality of the discussions here, which is why we have decided to deal with such messages.spiraldoor wrote:I think PC was doing just fine without these warnings for the last six years.
I would just like to point out the fact that we are not trying to ban short posts but useless posts. While this is, in my opinion, an example of an acceptable one-word post, I don't think MLII's “How?” in the previous page fits in the same category. If you, however, think we are adding this warning to short yet valuable messages, make sure to contact us about it.spiraldoor wrote:I find it slightly annoying that I must occasionally add several words of unnecessary padding to some of my more concise posts just to get them up to an acceptable length.

Re: Rayman Zone Discussion.
It seems to have been subtle enough to fly right over Acarr's head, and Matyuv appears to have missed the point somewhat by QFTing it.Hunchman801 wrote:I wouldn't exactly call it “subtle”, but it's just my opinion (and probably that of most right-thinking people herespiraldoor wrote:My purpose was not to complain about the short post; it was to make fun of the moderators' tendency to repeatedly say "Longer posts next time please" to absolutely no effect. And the way you said that it was "not my role to point out such things" made me wonder if you'd seen my true point either.
In that case, the 'useless-post-warning' is misleading. It should say "Please make more constructive posts in future", not "Please make longer posts in future".Hunchman801 wrote:I would just like to point out the fact that we are not trying to ban short posts but useless posts.spiraldoor wrote:I find it slightly annoying that I must occasionally add several words of unnecessary padding to some of my more concise posts just to get them up to an acceptable length.

RZ really needs a makeover. If it got one, I would happily join, but I'm not joining any forum with a skin like that.

Well, it hasn't been called Infopop for a long time, but Droolie called it Grue Pee, which does just as well.
