My girlfriend just took it and ended up in El Dango's spot, only slightly higher.
We now call that vertical center line the "don't care, do what you want" line.

No, not at all.
I've been reading over the site more, and it's actually quite interesting with how they examine various democratic systems. They also make the point about voter turn-out being at its best when the parties are more varying in terms of views, and you know, comparatively to the rest of the world, the US' Dem/Rep system is actually not enough.
