Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Only by the fact of Rayman having 10 H.P. it actually ruins the fun of a challenging difficulty level...

Too bad I haven't a DSi to give a try to the game and review it for myself.

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
It's a DS game. All DS games have a useless feature which is displayed on the bottom screen. That's what it's for.Quickfist wrote:I don't understand what they did with the bottom screen, it seems totally useless.

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
The map on the bottom screen is pure crap, it totally ruins the whole exploration part of the game. The low-difficulty level is simply laughable, that's all I can say. For some reason though, I like the black bars, probably because they will look good on the wiki
I can't wait for the rom to see the differences.

Notice how they stupidly used the PC version's inferior sound effects and backgrounds.
Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
I wonder if they have squished in new levels or powers etc. or not... or has this already been confirmed?

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Sadly we may have to wait for like a bajillion years for a rom, if the DSi features in Rabbids Go Home didn't work then I should imagine this wouldn't either. Dear DS emu makers, GET GOING!!!
Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
I'm not even so much hung up on that as just the fact that they may be butchering the gameplay element.spiraldoor wrote:Notice how they stupidly used the PC version's inferior sound effects and backgrounds.
Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
DSi roms and emulators don't even exist, sadly.
Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
There's actually no way I'm even getting the DSi. I already have the DS Lite, and I certainly don't see the reason behind buying a DSi for a camera and download system when I already have my laptop and a camera around for those two things.

I don't even play with my DS anymore anyway and as usual, no recent games have appealed to me. :/

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Ah that explains it. Difficulty is not an actual change in challenge or level layout but just a cop out of adding or subtracting HP. So the "hard" game is just regular Rayman? Give me a break!Drolpiraat wrote:This is pure horror... it scares me!
The extra HP is probably on the low difficulty level though. The "high" difficulty level probably has the 3/5HP again, right? RIGHT?
I'm curious to see what else they've changed though. We still need to see the bonuses.
Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Actually, that's sometimes true. HP is quite the important element. It's why I don't like Mario. One hit and you're screwed.
However, giving the player a lot of HP is also quite ridiculous. This is seen in Rayman 3. Honestly, have you ever died once without really just friggin' around with the game? No. Getting hurt merely has consequence on your score.

Holy shit, we're gonna have to find a way to take DSi screenshots.Drolpiraat wrote:DSi roms and emulators don't even exist, sadly.

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Only thing I can suggest is the old fashioned way - taking a photo with a camera. x___X

That's impossible to do with a regular DS.StaceyW wrote:Only thing I can suggest is the old fashioned way - taking a photo with a camera. x___X

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
I wonder if there's some kind of homebrew application for the DS that lets you take screenshots?

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
But if that's the only thing you are changing to impact difficulty in a platform game and none of the in game elements or challenges, I would say it's pretty lazy and it's better to just only have one difficult level if that's the case.Phoenixan wrote:Actually, that's sometimes true. Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Well, yes, that is true as well. Plus why increase the HP if you can just fall into a pit? It makes more sense to just limit hits to 3 unless the powerup brings it to 5.
My memory is a little fuzzy on Rayman Advance (since I don't even want to touch it anymore), but didn't it just have it at 6 by default?

Re: Rayman coming to DSiWare
Rayman Advance has four by default, and goes up to six.
