Re: Off Topic
Welcome to... THE FUTUREAlso, 2010 still seems very futuristic to me.
One day we will celebrate the new year of 2050, and then we'll look back and laugh at how futuristic we found it
Re: Off Topic
In 2050 I'll be 59 years old. Oh, the horror!
Re: Off Topic
Happy New Year everyone
2009 was quite remarkable.

Re: Off Topic
I pronounce two thousand and ten... but I heard on Eurosport "twenty ten". It explains that both terms are valid.

I say "twenty-ten". After all, 1066 is said as "ten-sixty-six".

Two-thousand-and-ten. "Twenty-ten" sounds so... American. I refuse to use it.
The pronunciation of '1066' really has nothing to do with it.PluMGMK wrote:After all, 1066 is said as "ten-sixty-six".

Re: Off Topic
I don't really like the sound of "twenty-ten". I go with the good old twothousandand... style.

It's the first century of the millennium, just like now.spiraldoor wrote:The pronunciation of '1066' really has nothing to do with it.PluMGMK wrote:After all, 1066 is said as "ten-sixty-six".

Re: Off Topic
Just because the first century of one millennium was pronounced a certain way doesn't mean that the first century of a different millennium should also be pronounced that way.

Re: Off Topic
You're just afraid to embrace the new millennium.
Re: Off Topic
I'd say it's because we're all just used to saying it as "two thousand and...". In a few years time, I bet everyone will be saying it as "twenty..." without thinking.

Why would I want to "embrace" a randomly-selected period of time? That's just... gay.PluMGMK wrote:You're just afraid to embrace the new millennium.
You can "embrace" all the millennia you want... just count me out of it.

Re: Off Topic
Lol!
I'm not sure. After 2000-2009, people are used to say it that way. I don't think it will change until 2100.Acarr wrote:I'd say it's because we're all just used to saying it as "two thousand and...". In a few years time, I bet everyone will be saying it as "twenty..." without thinking.
